Background / History
Plans in the Douluo World
After emerging, Gu Yuena chose to understand humanity before waging war. She sealed herself, assumed the form of a little girl, and entered human society. In Aolai City, she encountered Tang Wulin, a human carrying the Golden Dragon King’s complete bloodline 1 3.
She regarded that bloodline as a means to restore the Dragon God’s power. Believing the original Golden Dragon King might already be dead, she envisioned absorbing his bloodline, regaining the Dragon God’s pinnacle, and leading the Soul Beasts against the Divine Realm 3.
Arrival and Forced Discipleship
An unexplained force brought Gu Yuena to the Primordial World, where Xu You broke her self-imposed seal. She initially expected his submission as a fellow dragon, but he defeated her effortlessly. Her inherited authority over elements also failed to function normally in the unfamiliar world 3 4.
Once she accepted that the two worlds’ dragon races were different, she apologized for trespassing. Rather than immediately seek a way home, she resolved to cultivate, perfect her bloodline, conquer the Primordial Dragon Clan, and eventually return to attack the Douluo God Realm 5.
Xu You demanded that she become his disciple. Faced with his killing intent—and persuaded partly by his gift of the Law of Water—she bowed to him to preserve her chance of reviving the Dragon Clan. He subsequently removed her Creation Godhead and inherited cultivation, then taught her the Ancestral Dragon Scripture 7 8.
Life in the Rain Tribe
Xu You appointed Gu Yuena as the Rain Tribe’s shaman and sent her out of his temple. Chief Yu arranged a wooden house and assigned Sui and Wan to care for her. Qing, the existing shaman, opposed losing her position, but Gu Yuena’s display of the Dragon King’s power secured Chief Yu’s support 11 12 13.
The tribe’s poverty and lack of cultivation surprised her. During the catastrophe caused by Gonggong and Zhurong’s battle, she witnessed powers exceeding the God Kings she knew. She also questioned why Xu You protected humans, whom she associated with the betrayal and destruction of the Douluo Dragon Clan 11 17 18.
Changing Cultivation Goals
Witnessing Sagehood gave Gu Yuena a new ambition: surpassing the Dragon God rather than merely restoring his power. However, Xu You’s appointment as Lord of Reincarnation and his subsequent increase in strength made her increasingly despair of ever overcoming him 20 22 24 25.
After killing an ordinary Primordial World wolf whose strength rivaled a top Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast, she accepted that realm alone was insufficient. Her immediate goal shifted toward becoming invincible among dragons of the same level, taking gradual steps rather than rushing to rule the entire race 26.
Mission to Fuxi
Xu You sent Gu Yuena to a human settlement a hundred li east, instructing her to recruit Fuxi as his disciple or leave him the Dragon Transformation technique if he refused. She disliked helping humans cultivate, fearing they could eventually threaten the Dragon Clan, but obeyed 28.
Fuxi rejected the offer. Gu Yuena did not force him; she delivered the technique, gave her own name instead of Xu You’s, and departed. Fuxi subsequently recognized a potential path to Sagehood within the art 29 35.
Appearance
- Dragon form: A colossal silver dragon with powerful draconic pressure 3.
- Human form: A small, exceptionally beautiful girl with exquisite features and purple eyes. Her innocent expression changes when Xu You releases her sealed awareness 1 3 11.
- Clothing: Wears a white gown while flying to Fuxi’s settlement 29.
Personality
Gu Yuena is intensely proud of her bloodline and treats the Dragon God’s supremacy as a fundamental truth. Xu You’s refusal to submit, his demand for discipleship, and his casual punishments deeply offend her. Even after acknowledging the Primordial World’s greater power, she resists accepting that its Ancestral Dragon could surpass the Dragon God 4 5 9.
Her pride does not prevent calculated submission. She accepts Xu You as master because dying would end her hopes of restoring the Dragon Clan, framing obedience as temporary endurance. She holds grudges and repeatedly imagines reversing their positions, including an elaborate revenge fantasy of turning him into a toilet 7 8 28.
She distrusts humans because of their role in the Douluo dragons’ downfall, extending that prejudice to humans of another world. Nevertheless, she can reassess her methods: her experience with Primordial cultivation leads her to value comprehension and same-realm strength over rapid advancement 18 26 28.
Abilities & Skills
Dragon God Inheritance
Gu Yuena inherits the Dragon God’s wisdom, spiritual power, and creation-related authority 3 4.

- Gains the cooperation of surrounding elemental laws after receiving the Law of Water 7.
- Cultivates with assistance from the resonance of Gonggong’s Water-element Great Dao 28.

- Dragon Transformation technique — Temporarily carries and delivers Xu You’s human cultivation method to Fuxi. It is presented as a golden beast-hide scroll when entrusted to her and as glowing, dragon-patterned bamboo slips when delivered 28 29.
Relationships
- Xu You — Master who coerces her submission, removes her inherited cultivation, and teaches her Primordial cultivation. She benefits from his instruction while secretly planning to surpass and punish him 7 8 28 35.
- Di Tian — Devoted subordinate who guarded her for tens of thousands of years. Her submission enrages him, though he eventually accepts it as a hardship on her path back to strength 7.
- Tang Wulin — Human bearer of the Golden Dragon King’s complete bloodline. She sees that bloodline as a possible means of restoring the Dragon God 1 3.
- Chief Yu — Rain Tribe chief who receives her as the Dragon King’s appointed shaman and arranges her accommodation and attendants 11 12.
- Sui and Wan — Attendants responsible for her meals and daily needs. Wan later witnesses and praises her defeat of a giant wolf 12 26.
- Qing — Previous Rain Tribe shaman who protests Gu Yuena’s appointment and the loss of her position and house 13.
- Fuxi — Recipient of the Dragon Transformation Art she delivers on Xu You’s orders. He declines to become her fellow disciple 28 29.
Notable Quotes

Trivia

- Fuxi’s tribespeople mistake her for a divine maiden when she arrives in flight 29.
- Her private insults are not as private as she assumes: Xu You watches her through a water mirror and hears her remarks about turning him into a toilet 35.
