Arc 55The Hanged Man and The Fool

Klein escaped Adam’s trap, advanced to Sequence 1, and confronted the forces surrounding Mr. Door and Zaratul as the Apocalypse drew closer. He then sought to become The Fool while keeping the Celestial Worthy’s will at bay, with Audrey treating his unstable mind and Klein entering the Garden of Eden to confront Bailey Delair.

  • Audrey’s encounter with Arihogg exposed the danger surrounding Liveseyd, while Wendel followed a strange door into Utopia and returned with its court document.
  • Zaratul and his allies trapped Klein in the Corpse Cathedral, where Adam revealed their bargain and explained the paths to becoming a Great Old One.
  • Bernadette summoned Deng Shen, while Verdue’s ritual brought Mr. Door through a fleshly gate and triggered supernatural upheavals around the world.
  • Klein reclaimed Sefirah Castle, escaped Zaratul’s assault, advanced to Sequence 1, and absorbed Zaratul’s Beyonder characteristic.
  • Amon appeared as Mr. Door and used the First Blasphemy Slate to block the threat from the Starry Sky, while Adam entered the Forsaken Land of the Gods.
  • Klein learned from the Evernight Goddess how to attempt the Fool ritual, strengthened his humanity, and planned to use Antigonus’s identity while suppressing the Celestial Worthy’s revival.
  • Klein returned to Backlund, attended Benson’s wedding unseen, and asked Audrey to treat his unstable mind and help awaken Mr. Fool if He fell asleep.
  • Klein entered the Garden of Eden, defeated Bailey Delair, and concluded that Hermes had used Miss Justice’s faction to destroy the Garden and escape Adam.
Chapters 1357–1382 Vol. 14 Read

Ch. 1357At the same time

Audrey questioned the ancient Mind Dragon Arihogg about Liveseyd, and he revealed that they were standing in the City of Miracles itself. Meanwhile, Wendel gave in to his fear and agreed to testify in Utopia, then opened his washroom door onto an unfamiliar hall.

  • Audrey suspected that fate had guided her to reveal Liveseyd to Arihogg, who explained that he had entered a Dream Labyrinth to find her.
  • Audrey told Arihogg that she had found Liveseyd inside Groselle's Travels and described the city and the dangerous bronze gate in the Hall of Honesty.
  • Arihogg revealed that the pillars and palaces around him were Liveseyd, and Audrey heard a door open behind her as a huge white rabbit appeared.
  • Wendel grew increasingly anxious as his court deadline approached and imagined Trissy being convicted while he watched.
  • After hearing colleagues say that Utopia could appear in unexpected places, Wendel decided to testify and opened his washroom door onto an unfamiliar hall as a raven watched.

Ch. 1358Weaving Nightmares

Audrey escaped a dream labyrinth where Mr. Wrath and Arihogg attacked each other with nightmares, then woke the manor before the corruption could spread. Arihogg withdrew after warning that Adam might not be Adam, and Klein found no unusual activity in Utopia.

  • Wendel left the washroom at Military Intelligence Section 9 and met Byers, while the black raven vanished unnoticed.
  • Mr. Wrath confronted Arihogg in the dream labyrinth by weaving a nightmare of the Ancient The Sun God, and Arihogg answered with a nightmare of Ankewelt corrupted by the underground.
  • Audrey placated herself and escaped the dream, then used a guard's Virtual Persona to trigger a grenade and wake the manor's residents.
  • Several servants who failed to wake shed their skin and died as the nightmares' corruption spread through the manor.
  • Arihogg flew away with the giant white rabbit pursuing Him, then warned that Adam might not be Adam, just as He might not be Arihogg.
  • Klein checked Utopia through the Worms of Spirit but found nothing unusual.

Ch. 1359Humanity

Klein suspected that the simultaneous events involving Justice and Wendel signaled danger, so he began evacuating Utopia’s outsiders. Zaratul and his allies attacked, forcing Klein to flee through the Fog of History, where Gehrman Sparrow stabbed him and said Adam had given him humanity.

  • Klein reasoned that Hermes had used Justice to learn about Arihogg and became wary when her encounter coincided with Wendel’s return to Utopia.
  • Klein prepared a warning and began arranging for outsiders to leave Utopia, while Wendel checked into the Iris Inn and went to sleep.
  • Roselle Gustav’s Historical Projection helped Zaratul and projections of William Augustus I and Suah enter Utopia; Zaratul extracted Byers’s Worm of Spirit and used Suah’s puppet to isolate Klein’s main body.
  • Zaratul wrapped the Klein puppet in a shroud, severing the marionettes’ Spirit Body Threads and freezing Utopia’s inhabitants; Klein woke beneath Saint Arianna Cathedral and found Sefirah Castle blocked.
  • Klein evaded Zaratul with a paper figurine and fled through the Fog of History, but after reaching the City of the Great Old One, Gehrman Sparrow stabbed him with an ancient wooden cross and said Adam had given him humanity.

Ch. 1360We meet again

Adam captured Klein in his divine kingdom after Gehrman Sparrow’s humanity turned against him, and explained his alliance with Amon and Zaratul. He revealed the second Blasphemy Slate and ended by addressing Klein as Mysteries, calling them old friends who had met before.

  • Gehrman Sparrow pushed Klein out of the Fog of History, while Adam’s Corpse Cathedral blocked the attack from Sefirah Castle and trapped Klein.
  • Klein’s uncontrolled avatars went mad after losing contact with his main body, and Gehrman Sparrow died in the ruined city.
  • Klein sat before Adam in the Corpse Cathedral, and Adam explained that he had made a deal with Amon to capture Klein in exchange for the first Blasphemy Slate.
  • Adam said Zaratul had cooperated because He hoped to become an Angel King under Amon, and explained that neighboring pathways required only their Uniqueness and one Sequence 1 characteristic to become a Great Old One.
  • Adam showed Klein the second Blasphemy Slate, which listed the requirements for the God Almighty and Lord of Mysteries, and said he would otherwise prefer to help Klein become the Dominator of the Spirit World.
  • Adam called Klein Mysteries and said they were old friends who had met once before.

Ch. 1362What made a "Visionary" special

Klein learned from Adam how a Visionary could separate Sequence 1 characteristics and create independent Authors, and concluded that Adam was the Ancient The Sun God’s resurrection. While Klein remained trapped in the Corpse Cathedral with Zaratul waiting outside, Bernadette awakened aboard the Dawn and began calling on the Fool.

  • Klein questioned Adam about being the Ancient The Sun God, and Adam explained how a Visionary could replace separated Sequence 1 characteristics with envisioned ones while preserving their power.
  • Adam explained that he had awakened when the Ancient The Sun God perished and True was born, and that he had disguised himself as a fanatic who wanted his father to return.
  • Adam said Medici had survived for so long as an Evil Spirit because he was a necessary sacrifice.
  • Klein stayed in the Corpse Cathedral to decipher the second Blasphemy Slate because Zaratul waited outside and could turn him into a Marionette.
  • Bernadette woke aboard the Dawn, took the Wishing Lamp, and recited an honorific name to summon the Fool.

Ch. 1363Pillars

Klein and Adam discussed the Great Old Ones, the pillars, and the danger of accommodating multiple sefirot, before Klein questioned whether Adam had any humanity left. In Bayam, Verdue Abraham learned that a pauper’s prayer to the God of War had succeeded, and the pauper survived with some wishes fulfilled.

  • Klein interpreted the Great Old One titles and asked Adam how their relative strength and status worked.
  • Adam explained the three pillars, the Mother Goddess of Depravity’s sefirah, and the risks of accommodating additional sefirot.
  • Adam revealed that the River of Eternal Darkness and the City of Calamity could form a hidden fourth pillar capable of ending the universe.
  • Adam said he had deduced Great Old One formulas before the Primordial awakened within him, and explained that Klein’s marionette had wanted rest and freedom.
  • Klein said Gehrman Sparrow was part of him and asked Adam whether only divinity remained in him.
  • In Bayam, Verdue Abraham paid a pauper to pray to the God of War, and learned that the pauper survived and had some wishes fulfilled.

Ch. 1364Preparing the Ritual

Verdue Abraham performed a ritual to summon the God of War, who agreed to help free Bethel Abraham in exchange for a price paid by Mr. Door and provided the required sacrifices. Meanwhile, Klein questioned Adam about his relationship with the True Creator and the hidden forces behind Fourth Epoch events, while Bernadette’s prayer light remained under attack above the Gray Fog.

  • Verdue Abraham teleported to a remote forest and summoned the God of War to ask how to bring Bethel Abraham back to the real world.
  • The God of War said the ritual required sacrifices corresponding to a Bizarro Sorcerer, a Secrets Sorcerer, and a Parasite, and offered to collect the price from Mr. Door in exchange for Verdue’s blood.
  • Verdue accepted the deal, and the Door of Sacrifice and Bestowal produced three monster sacrifices for the ritual.
  • In the Corpse Cathedral, Adam told Klein that he had only divinity and could become complete only by uniting with the True Creator, with the two competing over which would dominate.
  • Klein questioned Adam about the Red Angel’s death and Fourth Epoch conflicts, and Adam cited hidden powers and intensified Outer Deity erosion after his fall.
  • Above the Gray Fog, the vortex of transparent worms repeatedly attacked Bernadette’s expanding and contracting prayer light until one tentacle touched it.

Ch. 1365"Door"

Klein negotiated with Deng Shen, trading the Wishing Lamp’s delivery to the cosmos by 1368 for two wishes, while Mr. Door’s arrival through Verdue’s ritual caused doors to open across the world. The chapter ended with blood pouring from Klein’s head as he spoke with Adam inside the Corpse Cathedral.

  • Bernadette’s prayer activated the Wishing Lamp, and Deng Shen appeared above the Gray Fog as Klein’s failing control over Sefirah Castle became apparent.
  • Klein offered to send the Wishing Lamp into the cosmos before the end of 1368 in exchange for two wishes, and Deng Shen accepted after binding the bargain with a rule.
  • Verdue completed the God of War’s ritual, causing three demigod-level monsters to burst apart and form a door of flesh through which Mr. Door began to emerge.
  • Verdue’s body fell apart as Mr. Door passed through the door, and supernatural rifts and hurricanes shook Blue Mountain Island.
  • Doors opened on their own throughout the world, including in Bayam, the New City of Silver, Backlund, Trier, and Saint Milom.
  • Klein asked Deng Shen to count Bernadette Gustav’s two previous wishes as his first wish and to create a corresponding region for Utopia in the Spirit World as his second; later, blood streamed from Klein’s head as he questioned Adam in the Corpse Cathedral.

Ch. 1366Wishes

Klein returned after Adam killed him, restored much of his power above the gray fog, and turned against Zaratul in Utopia by calling the Lord of Storms’ attention. As seals failed across the world, Derrick and Alger moved to contain the resulting dangers.

  • Adam watched Klein die inside the Corpse Cathedral, but Klein reassembled above the gray fog and reclaimed his seat as The Fool.
  • Klein promised Deng Shen that he would fulfill his promise, then wished to return to his former condition and recovered Beyonder characteristics from the Curtain.
  • Klein’s marionettes in Utopia resisted Zaratul’s attempt to escape, while Historical Projections of William Augustus, Roselle Gustav, and Suah attacked the shadow isolating the city.
  • Klein’s marionettes shouted Leodero’s name, drawing the Lord of Storms’ lightning down upon Utopia before Zaratul could leave.
  • Derrick learned from Waite Chirmont that the underground seals had failed and accompanied him to use Proof of Glory.
  • Alger ordered teams to remove safer Sealed Artifacts from Bayam’s underground stores, then decided to handle the remaining danger himself.

Ch. 1367Seizing the opportunity

Alger prayed to the Lord of Storms and unleashed a storm that disrupted the battle in Utopia, giving Klein a chance to thwart Zaratul’s escape and drive him from sight. With Adam occupied and the ritual’s effects fading, Klein prepared and drank the Attendant of Mysteries potion.

  • Alger prayed for the Lord of Storms’ protection and rushed underground as lightning enveloped the Sea Waves Cathedral and struck Utopia.
  • Zaratul used the storm as cover to escape through a prepared void, but Klein grafted its destination to the Iris Hotel, leaving Zaratul’s image exposed to the lightning.
  • Klein used Sefirah Castle and The Fool Card to draw Zaratul out of the fog of history, but Zaratul escaped by using paper figurines, a wish, and a prepared stone.
  • Klein moved his resurrection to a marionette outside Utopia, gathered the Curtain and nine Spirit World specialties, and began preparing the Attendant of Mysteries potion.
  • Klein finished digesting the Miracle Invoker potion and drank the Attendant of Mysteries potion while Adam remained occupied by the Lord of Storms.

Ch. 1368Attendant of Mysteries

Klein advanced to Sequence 1 as an Attendant of Mysteries and used his new connection to Sefirah Castle to locate the Angels of the Mysteries pathways. As Alger struggled to hold back the Azure Door and Bethel Abraham neared godhood, Klein intervened and offered Bethel a way to rest in peace.

  • Klein's body and identity reformed through Utopia, allowing him to complete his advancement to Sequence 1.
  • Alger fought to contain the Azure Door and the other Sealed Artifacts beneath Sea Waves Cathedral, then used the snowflake mark to summon Mr. Fool.
  • Bethel Abraham faced attacks from multiple forces while attempting to become a god, but the Door of Flesh and Blood collapsed over Him.
  • Klein gained a brief vision of the Angels and Angel Kings connected to Sefirah Castle, including Zaratul, and used the Staff of the Stars to travel to Zaratul.
  • Klein's grayish-white fog appeared before Alger and quieted the Sealed Artifacts, while his voice told Bethel to give up and promised Him peace.

Ch. 1369The Sacrificial Victim

Amon used the First Blasphemy Slate to block the Mother Goddess of Depravity’s corruption and complete his apotheosis as Error. Klein then exploited Roselle’s unexpected betrayal to defeat Zaratul and absorb his Beyonder characteristic, while Adam headed toward the Forsaken Land of the Gods.

  • Amon returned as Mr. Door, took the monocle, and used the First Blasphemy Slate to block the blood-colored robe and crimson tide from the Starry Sky.
  • Adam picked up the ancient mirror in the Corpse Cathedral and walked toward the second Blasphemy Slate.
  • Zaratul summoned Roselle Gustav’s Historical Projection, but Roselle turned his attack on Zaratul and overwhelmed his mind with knowledge.
  • Klein revealed that he had awakened Roselle and prepared him to resist the Mother Goddess of Depravity’s corruption, then froze Zaratul with the Staff of the Stars.
  • Klein drew Zaratul into a vortex and absorbed his Beyonder characteristic, preventing Zaratul’s attempts to resurrect from reclaiming it.
  • Adam appeared at the edge of the Ruins of the Gods’ Battle and opened a path toward the Forsaken Land of the Gods, where a figure hung upside down from an enormous cross.

Ch. 1370Part Seven wrap-up, leave request, and a plea for monthly votes

The author explained the pacing and symbolism of Part Seven, reflecting on its sacrifices, character choices, and unresolved weaknesses before announcing a three-and-a-half-day break. The story was set to resume with Part Eight, “The Fool,” and the author asked readers for monthly votes and recommended another book.

  • The author explained that Adam and the other antagonists had to act decisively, causing Part Seven’s final conflicts to accelerate.
  • The author described “The Hanged Man” as symbolizing sacrifice and patient self-examination, citing Roselle, Mr. Door, Alger, Little Klein, the True Creator, and Adam.
  • The author said Mr. Door’s sacrifice had been kept brief and acknowledged regret over Zaratul’s limited development and lack of a final battle.
  • The author announced that Part Eight would be called “The Fool” and that updates would resume Thursday, April 9, at 12:30 p.m., after a three-and-a-half-day break.
  • The author asked readers for monthly votes and recommended “My Cell Prison.”

Ch. 1371That night

Doors and windows suddenly opened across Utopia and Backlund, displacing Wendel and Monica from the places where they had fallen asleep. Fors discovered that Dorian Gray Abraham and other members of the Abraham Family had faced a dangerous disruption to their seals, then witnessed a vast cache of high-sequence Beyonder Characteristics appear before them.

  • Wendel woke at Military Intelligence Section 9 headquarters, though he remembered entering Utopia, and found the Utopia court document in his coat pocket.
  • Monica realized the hotel room she had awakened in was in Backlund, not Utopia, after finding a card for the Calpenza Hotel on Morning Street.
  • Fors woke from a nightmare about the apocalypse and the Abraham Family, then Teleported to Dorian Gray Abraham and learned he had nearly died when a seal failed.
  • Dorian asked Fors to take him to the other Abraham Family members, and they found Wallace and several others gathered in a study.
  • Starlight formed into numerous Beyonder Characteristics, including multiple Sequence 3 Wanderer and Sequence 4 Secrets Sorcerer characteristics, two Sequence 1 Key of Stars characteristics, and three Sequence 2 Planeswalker characteristics.

Ch. 1372Tying up loose ends

Fors and the Abraham Family discovered that the scattered High-Sequence Beyonder Characteristics belonged to Mr. Door, whose death had also lifted the family’s bloodline curse. As anomalies spread elsewhere, Audrey investigated a bloody corpse at the Hall manor, Alger left the Church of Storms for the Church of the Sea God, and Klein stabilized after resisting the Celestial Worthy’s awakening.

  • Fors warned the Abraham Family about the characteristics’ negative effects, and Dorian promised her the Wanderer potion formula and ingredients.
  • Dorian prayed to Mr. Fool and learned that the characteristics were Mr. Door’s belongings and that the Abraham Family’s bloodline curse had been completely lifted.
  • Alfred ordered the Hall household secured, while Audrey sent Susie to investigate a blood scent and discovered a skinned corpse in a distant building.
  • Alger asked Mr. Fool for permission to leave the Church of Storms and, after receiving approval to join the Church of the Sea God, flew toward it.
  • Klein stabilized after using Zaratul’s residual mental imprint to counter the Celestial Worthy’s intensified revival, though his mental state remained unstable.

Ch. 1373Urgency

Klein assessed his new powers and considered how to become The Fool before Amon could threaten him. He devised a possible way to fulfill the ritual by fooling history, but lacked a plan for its consequences, so he left Sefirah Castle to seek advice from Will Auceptin and the Evernight Goddess.

  • Klein reviewed the Attendant of Mysteries abilities and recognized that his control over Sefirah Castle made him an Angel King close to a true god.
  • Klein considered the lingering effects of the Mother Goddess of Depravity’s attempted descent and Amon’s rise as Error, concluding that he needed to become The Fool quickly.
  • Klein outlined how he could digest the Attendant of Mysteries potion and become eligible to consume The Fool potion, but identified defeating the Antigonus Family’s ancestor and completing the ritual as his main obstacles.
  • Klein considered fooling history by creating an avatar that stole his fate, consciousness, anchors, and Beyonder Characteristic, making the Tarot Club’s belief that Mr. Fool had revived true.
  • Klein set aside the plan because he had no way to handle the awakened Celestial Worthy, then decided to consult Will Auceptin and the Evernight Goddess.
  • Klein left Sefirah Castle and teleported to Backlund.

Ch. 1374A meeting

Adam carried the second Blasphemy Slate through a passage in the shadow curtain after connecting it to the Chaos Sea, while Ouroboros remained behind with Arrodes. Klein visited Will Auceptin to discuss fooling fate and the requirements for advancing, then prayed to the Evernight Goddess and learned more about the Lord of Mysteries’ resurrection plans.

  • Adam used Arrodes to connect the second Blasphemy Slate to the Chaos Sea, then walked through the shadow curtain as Ouroboros remained at the cross.
  • Ouroboros read Arrodes’s request to be returned to its Lord and left the mirror waiting for an answer.
  • Klein visited Will Auceptin in Backlund and asked whether giving him and the Die of Probability to Ouroboros would help Ouroboros become the Wheel of Fortune.
  • Will explained that accommodating a Uniqueness could simplify a ritual, but advancing to Sequence 0 still required completing the full ritual without shortcuts.
  • Klein prayed at Saint Samuel Cathedral and met a projection of the Evernight Goddess in a dream.
  • The Evernight Goddess said the people in the cocoons were backup candidates for the Lord of Mysteries’s resurrection, and that she would otherwise have died and lived on as Him.

Ch. 1375Conversation

Klein learned how the Evernight Goddess had redirected his descent and how Antigonus used Amon and Adam to fool fate while accommodating The Fool's Uniqueness. He devised a risky plan to steal Antigonus's fate, but first needed water from the River of Eternal Darkness, and awoke after the Goddess promised to provide a collecting item.

  • The Evernight Goddess explained that Antigonus's madness let the Lord of Mysteries' identity influence Sefirah Castle, and that she had used this to redirect Klein's descent to the Forsaken Land of the Gods.
  • The Evernight Goddess told Klein how Adam and Amon helped Antigonus use a demigod as a substitute fate to accommodate The Fool's Uniqueness, and warned that the timing had carried enormous risks.
  • Klein planned to have the Evernight Goddess suppress Antigonus while he stole Antigonus's identity, fate, and self-awareness, then accommodated The Fool's Uniqueness under that identity.
  • The Evernight Goddess said she needed water from the River of Eternal Darkness to help put Antigonus into Eternal Sleep and offered to provide Klein with an item for collecting it.
  • The Evernight Goddess told Klein that Adam had gone to the Forsaken Land of the Gods and met the True Creator, then her projection vanished and Klein awoke in the shadowy hall.

Ch. 1376Morning

Klein returned to human society to steady himself against the awakening will of the Celestial Worthy and wrote to Azik about his former colleagues in Tingen. The chapter left him reflecting on how life had carried him away from the peaceful routine he once imagined.

  • Klein received a golden bird ornament from the Evernight Goddess, recognized its connection to the River of Eternal Darkness, and stored it in Sefirah Castle.
  • Amon paid Sauron Einhorn Medici with a bloodstained crown after explaining that he had used his main body to steal the ritual and replace Bethel.
  • Amon departed after remarking on the Western Continent, while Medici warned himself to stay away from Bansy after absorbing the Beyonder characteristic.
  • Klein used a miracle to clear his ritual altar and went into Backlund to strengthen his humanity by immersing himself in ordinary life.
  • Klein bought breakfast at a café and wrote Azik a letter recalling the members of the Blackthorn Security Company and his former life in Tingen.

Ch. 1377Choice

Klein returned to Utopia’s ruins to recover the Beyonder Characteristics he had left there, while Audrey considered the Psychology Alchemists’ offer to split off an identity that could protect her loved ones. In Bayam, Danitz learned that Alger would secretly become the pontiff of the Church of the Sea God.

  • Klein sent a letter by Azik’s Copper Whistle messenger and reflected on his new powers, lost artifacts, and the risks of his former Sequences.
  • Klein used grafting to enter Utopia’s Spirit World region, returned to its ruins, and found the Beyonder Characteristics among the wreckage.
  • Mr. Wrath apologized to Audrey and offered either full membership in the Psychology Alchemists or a separate identity to remain with her loved ones; Audrey did not answer.
  • Danitz learned that the Church of Storms had replaced Alger as cardinal and that Alger had been transferred back to headquarters.
  • Mr. Fool told Danitz that Alger would wear a mask and serve as pontiff of the Church of the Sea God.

Ch. 1378Joint operation

Danitz announced that Alger would become the masked Pope of the Church of the Sea God, while Leonard learned he would join a long-term campaign against the Rose School of Thought in the Southern Continent. Emlyn and Father Utravsky also prepared to travel there, as several groups moved in response to the coming Apocalypse.

  • Danitz delivered Mr. Fool’s oracle appointing Alger the masked Pope of the Church of the Sea God, and Alger accepted the role.
  • Leonard discussed Amon’s ascension and the coming struggle for the Lord of Mysteries with Pallez Zoroast, then received orders to join the campaign against the Rose School of Thought.
  • The Holy Cathedral told Leonard that orthodox Churches would send demigods to the Southern Continent to hunt the Rose School of Thought in preparation for the Apocalypse.
  • Father Utravsky told Emlyn that the Mother Goddess had ordered them to go to the Southern Continent, and Emlyn said he would contact the Rose School of Thought’s Temperance Faction.
  • An intelligence agency supervisor in Trier heard a mysterious voice repeating the names “Orville” and “Dilaan.”

Ch. 1379Witness

Klein sensed that Zaratul had prepared a concealed path to resurrection, but set aside the search while he focused on advancing and stabilizing his mind. Guided back to Backlund, he secretly witnessed Benson marry Ruth, then left for the Hall Family’s manor in East Chester County.

  • Antoine heard altered whispers mentioning Orville and Dilaan, then continued assigning tasks to his subordinates.
  • At a gravestone, Klein concluded that Zaratul might still be able to resurrect through hidden arrangements involving the Secret Order, but postponed investigating them.
  • Klein traveled through the Spirit World to strengthen his self-awareness and suppress the Celestial Worthy’s awakening will.
  • Klein returned to Backlund and watched from a church corner as Benson Moretti married Ruth Brooke while Melissa attended.
  • After the wedding, Klein emerged from the void at the Hall Family’s manor in East Chester County, ready to seek treatment and resolve another problem.

Ch. 1380Treatment plan

Audrey began treating Klein’s unstable mental state after he revealed that he had become an Angel King and was struggling to suppress the revived will within him. She prepared to enter his Mind World while shielding herself from the memories she would awaken.

  • Klein visited Audrey at her estate, and they discussed the fate of the staff at Megro Manor over tea and pastries.
  • Klein explained how divinity and the original Creator’s will caused corruption, and identified Audrey’s visions as effects of the Chaos Sea and Adam’s influence.
  • Klein revealed that he was now an Angel King and that the will within him had revived enough to threaten his mental stability.
  • Audrey outlined a treatment plan to awaken Klein’s humane memories and use Placate and Hypnosis to lessen the effects of his divinity.
  • Audrey covered her eyes and ears with a silk scarf to seal off her spirit body’s perceptions, then prepared to enter Klein’s Mind World.

Ch. 1381A man of action

Klein underwent psychotherapy with Audrey to awaken memories tied to his humanity and stabilize his mind against the Celestial Worthy’s influence. After discussing the risks of Audrey splitting off an identity, Klein used Audrey’s hair and the Pride mask to enter the Garden of Eden himself.

  • Audrey entered Klein’s mind island and used emotionally charged memories to draw out his human memories, while the light from those memories pushed back the corruption emerging from the Door of Light.
  • Audrey completed the difficult treatment and warned Klein that repeated sessions would help him maintain mental stability under normal circumstances.
  • Klein and Audrey discussed the mental dangers of Beyonder Characteristics, and Audrey suggested that absorbing them might be like taking in food rather than rejecting them entirely.
  • Klein advised Audrey that she could avoid most dangers by abandoning her mystical identities, then questioned whether she would trust Hermes to help her split off an identity.
  • Klein revealed the risks tied to the coming Apocalypse and asked Audrey to follow Mr. Fool’s instructions and help awaken Him if He fell asleep.
  • Klein attached Audrey’s hair to a summoned Pride mask, used Deceit to bypass its rules, and entered the Garden of Eden.

Ch. 1382Destruction

Klein invaded the Garden of Eden and killed Bailey Delair, the leader of the Psychology Alchemists, after sealing the city and overcoming his attacks. The chapter leaves Klein waiting for Bailey’s Beyonder Characteristic and reflecting that Hermes had used Miss Justice’s faction to destroy the Garden of Eden and break free of Adam.

  • Klein sealed the Garden of Eden with the Realm of Mysteries and used Grafting to make the animals representing Bestial Desires fuse with one another.
  • Klein entered the cathedral and dispelled Bailey Delair’s illusions of an Angel, Hermes, and Adam.
  • Bailey transformed into an incomplete Mythical Creature and attacked Klein with a storm of mental energies and desires.
  • Klein’s historical projection lost control after revealing his true form, so he dispersed it above the Gray Fog and sent another version back to the cathedral.
  • Klein used the shadowy curtain to join Bailey to the cross and the dragon statue to the Garden of Eden, then struck Bailey apart with the Staff of the Stars.
  • Klein waited for Bailey’s Beyonder Characteristic and concluded that Hermes had used Miss Justice’s faction to destroy the Garden of Eden and escape Adam.
