The corner of Li Dan's mouth twitched.

Li Yaoyao bit her lip, staring blankly at where the two had disappeared, and complained.

"So I should leave, then?"

Li Xiao and Li Dan stood at the entrance, peering inside.

Li Dan looked worriedly at the pitch-black cave before them.

Li Xiao waved a hand and strode into the cave.

Inside the cave, everything was pitch-black. They couldn't see their own fingers in front of their faces.

But at Li Xiao's realm, he could walk as though on level ground even with his eyes closed.

Behind him, Li Dan stayed close to Li Xiao, looking around curiously.

A pair of huge, blood-red eyes like lanterns opened in the darkness and fixed on the two of them.

"It's here!"

Li Xiao narrowed his eyes as he spoke.

Roar!

A deafening beastly roar echoed throughout the cave entrance.

The tremendous sound sent ripples through the space, scattering broken stones in every direction.

Hearing it, Li Dan hastily covered his ears. A trickle of blood seeped from his ears through the gaps between his fingers.

Noticing Li Dan's condition behind him, Li Xiao swept his gaze around, a sharp gleam flashing through his eyes.

In an instant, several balls of fire appeared in the darkness, floating in midair and illuminating the entire cave.

The ground was heaped with white bones.

Li Xiao raised his head slightly and saw an enormous creature coiled ahead.

"A demon dragon?"

"No, that's not right. This demon dragon hasn't fully formed yet. Give it another few hundred years, and it'll have a chance to transform."

Li Xiao spoke calmly.

The "demon dragon" before them was clearly still a giant flood dragon, but slight bulges on its head showed that it was about to grow horns.

The "demon dragon" narrowed its eyes, its expression fierce as it watched the two warily.

The "demon dragon" seemed to sense danger. It reared up and let out a tremendous roar.

Li Xiao ignored it, his expression settling.

The next instant.

The "demon dragon" opened its bloody maw and shot toward Li Xiao like an arrow.

Rather than retreat, Li Xiao advanced. Raising his fist, he flashed behind the "demon dragon."

He slammed a punch into the "demon dragon's" vital point, seven inches below its head.

Boom!

The tremendous impact cracked the ground.

The "demon dragon" was smashed deep into the earth, as though embedded in it.

"Holy shit! Young master, you're badass!"

Seeing his young master fight so ferociously, Li Dan flushed red with excitement and immediately cheered him on.

"Boss, spare my life!"

The demon dragon instantly coiled up, wariness in its eyes as it spoke in human language.

"You can talk?"

Li Xiao froze upon hearing the demon dragon speak.

"You're joking, boss. At my realm, it's perfectly normal to have awakened intelligence."

Beasts also awakened intelligence upon reaching a certain realm, speaking human language just like people. Some ancient spirit beasts were even born with intelligence.

Seeing the demon dragon before him yield, Li Xiao gathered Peak Saint power in his fist.

If this demon dragon submitted, he could take it back to the Li Lineage. They did lack a guardian demonic beast at home. If it refused, he would destroy it while he was at it.

How could backbone matter more than my life? Once my life is gone, everything is gone. Besides, this boss is so fierce. I can stay by his side and cling to his thigh.

"Fine. You won't be working for me for nothing. I have a drop of true dragon blood that can let you transform instantly."

The demon dragon's pupils abruptly contracted. "What? True dragon blood?"
