Background / History
Transmigration and Return to the Upper Realm
Li Xiao was originally a factory worker on Blue Star. Eighteen years before the story begins, he awoke as a newborn in the Li Lineage, retaining his previous memories. He grew up doted on by his relatives in a powerful family without internal fratricide or succession scheming 1.
When rival great lineages threatened the family, his grandfather, Li Kuangfeng, sent him to the Lower Realm. The departure was intended both to temper him and to preserve a surviving descendant if the Li Lineage fell. After one night of cultivation, Li Xiao awakened the Invincible System, obtained Peak Emperor cultivation, and immediately returned home 1 2.
He then advanced to Peak Saint before his astonished relatives. To conceal the system, he invented an account of entering another world with accelerated time, powerful creatures, and abundant food, drawing on memories of his former home. He subsequently destroyed the Pan Lineage to settle its grudge with his family and deter other enemies 3 5 12.
Strengthening the Li Lineage
Seeking enough Spiritual Qi to support the lineage’s expansion, Li Xiao entered the Hundred Thousand Mountains with Li Dan. He defeated an Early Saint flood dragon, secured its submission, and transformed it with true dragon blood. Naming it Long Aotian, he appointed it the Li Lineage’s guardian beast 5 6 7.
Li Xiao removed the altar and prism crystal sustaining the mountains’ dragon vein and installed them in the lineage’s forbidden grounds. The relocation increased local Spiritual Qi more than tenfold. He also established the Ten Directions Killing Formation, distributed cultivation resources, and healed his eldest uncle Li Yan’s thousand-year-old leg injuries with a nine-mark Meridian-Generating Pill 7 10.
Li Yan’s account of masked Saints crippling him raised suspicions that someone was hunting talented Saint Realm cultivators. Li Xiao refused to be intimidated and later deliberately welcomed the possibility that his growing reputation would draw the attackers out 11 18.
God-Worshipping Mountain and the Shadow Killing Pavilion
Li Xiao sent Li Dan to climb God-Worshipping Mountain in his place, equipping him with a protective jade slip. Before the climb, he killed Xiao Huohuo’s attendant and ordered Li Dan to execute Xiao Huohuo after their confrontation 11 12 13.
After the blessing ceremony, Li Xiao discovered and erased a concealed golden mark inside Li Dan. When assassins attacked them shortly afterward, the jade slip saved Li Dan from a sword strike, though the impact injured him. Enraged, Li Xiao sealed the surrounding space, burned the attackers, and searched the final assassin’s soul to locate the Shadow Killing Pavilion 16.
At its headquarters, pavilion master Yingzi admitted that Xiao Dushui had commissioned the attack. Li Xiao demanded the Xiao Lineage’s destruction within one incense stick’s time. After Yingzi’s assassins killed all thirteen hundred members, Li Xiao accepted the pavilion’s submission and physically relocated its headquarters to the Li Lineage 17 18.
Confrontation with the Executioners
Through the Azure Dragon Sect’s Du Lie, Li Xiao found a refuge sheltering Saints from the Executioners. He removed their Soul-Chasing Taboos and explained that the Divine Blessing at God-Worshipping Mountain had marked them. In exchange for their freedom, the fugitives agreed to serve the Li Lineage for ten years 21 22.
Li Xiao returned with them to confront Tang Xuan’s attack on the lineage. When the Executioners deployed an immortal-grade replica Ruyi Staff, he obtained the genuine weapon from the system. He defeated the attackers and destroyed their physical bodies, although Tang Xuan and two others escaped as spirits 24 25 26 27.
Afterward, Li Xiao healed his injured allies with White Bone Pills and appointed the rescued Saints honorary elders. He could not track the three escaped spirits through their concealment, but expected them to return for him 26 28.
Li Tong’s Protection and Awakening
Li Xiao frequently indulged his young cousin Li Tong with food and outings. During a visit to Luoyang City, she wandered away and was terrorized by a young man from a subordinate lineage. Li Xiao rescued her, later confirmed that the offending lineage no longer existed, and ordered a wider investigation into subordinate forces abusing the Li Lineage’s name 29 30 31.
The incident changed his belief that his own strength alone would always be enough to protect Li Tong. With her parents’ permission, he arranged the early awakening of her Heaven-Devouring Saint Physique. When heavenly tribulation threatened her, the system temporarily empowered him beyond the plane’s limits. He consumed the lightning with netherfire, dispersed the clouds with a word, and destroyed a taotie manifestation 32.
The awakening produced ten thousand miles of purple Qi and blessings that benefited cultivators throughout the Upper Realm. Accounts of Li Xiao’s intervention subsequently spread, inspiring rumors that he was a reincarnated immortal 32 33.
Expansion and the Four Symbols Sects
As lineage head, Li Xiao expanded the family’s grounds, supplied white jade towers with manuals, nine-pattern pills, and weapons, and announced recruitment for cultivators at Half-Saint or above. The recruitment brought in 680 guest elders, despite opposition from the Four Symbols Sects. He killed Black Tortoise Sect representatives who challenged him 35 36 37 38.
For the sects’ baptism ceremonies, he divided the Li Lineage’s delegation among three destinations and secretly brought Li Kuangfeng to the White Tiger Sect. An ambush along the route exposed a possible information leak within the lineage: the attackers believed Li Xiao was traveling elsewhere and had intended to strike a less-protected delegation 40 41.
At the White Tiger Sect, Li Xiao rescued Nangong Meng and defeated the rampaging White Tiger will, a blood tiger approaching Peak Saint strength. He then killed survivors who accused him of deliberately delaying his intervention. His visit also helped secure public acknowledgment of the connection between Li Kuangfeng and Nangong Meng 46 47 48.
Upon returning home, Li Xiao learned that Yingzi had not returned from the Black Tortoise Sect. Concerned that the Shadow Killing Pavilion had encountered trouble, he left to investigate 50.
Appearance
- Build and features: A handsome young man with sword-like brows and starry eyes 1.
- Clothing: Commonly wears blue robes 1 2 30 35.
- Presence: His Peak Saint aura places immense pressure on weaker cultivators, including Half-Saints 43.
Personality
Li Xiao is openly confident in his strength and rejects concealing it to lure enemies into underestimating him. He prefers immediate retaliation and overwhelming force, treating the destruction of hostile lineages as both punishment and deterrence. He explicitly rejects the idea that he is a merciful “saint” 1 3 12.
His affection for his family contrasts sharply with his treatment of opponents. He gives relatives precious resources without demanding repayment, spoils Li Tong, and feels guilty when he neglects his parents. Despite his authority, he acknowledges ordinary lineage disciples without putting on airs 10 29 40.
He wants a comfortable life after escaping Blue Star’s exhausting work culture. Fishing, meals, and family outings appeal to him more than routine cultivation or administration. Nevertheless, he personally intervenes when subordinate factions damage the lineage’s reputation and insists that his relatives continue growing strong enough to avoid becoming hostages or liabilities 18 20 28 31 35.
Li Xiao enjoys teasing his grandfather and investigating his relationship with Nangong Meng. In contrast, direct flirtation unsettles him: Liu Sanniang’s advances make him blush and retreat despite his overwhelming cultivation 16 26 41 43.
