Ye Qizhen became nationally famous after awakening Psychic Power before his college entrance examinations. His rarity as a Spirit Master drew competing offers from all five elite martial schools and made him more widely remembered than the examination’s top scorers 75.

Yan Tianyang personally scouted him and spent a year nurturing him without sparing resources. Although others viewed Ye Qizhen as a prospective successor, Yan assessed him as better suited to being a general than a marshal when discussing the future leadership with Master Li 90 255 373.

His early training concentrated on Psychic Power rather than physical cultivation. Surviving an assassination attempt—and witnessing Jiang Fan’s ability to fight physically despite also being a Spirit Master—helped drive his decision to develop his qi and blood more seriously 82 84 199.

Despite his public reputation, he places little value on maintaining an idol-like image. He openly describes himself as a martial artist and Spirit Master rather than a celebrity, and his private interactions with Jiang Fan are full of teasing, theatrical complaints, and boasts about catching up 80 370 403.

His competitiveness produces genuine effort rather than lasting resentment. He accepts dangerous wilderness training to improve himself, acknowledges Jiang Fan’s superiority, and repeatedly recovers his good humor after discovering that his friend has advanced even further 199 200 315 403.

Ye Qizhen is fiercely loyal to his friends. He refuses to let his guardians belittle Jiang Fan under the alias Tang Fan, even threatening to dismiss them. Ancheng Visit and Assassination Attempt

Ye Qizhen arrives in Ancheng to an official school reception, with wealthy families also seeking his favor. Acting on Yan Tianyang’s instructions, he visits Master Li at the cemetery and attempts to become his disciple 74 75 76 78.

Curious about Master Li’s existing disciple, he investigates with Wei Cangyue and tries to provoke Jiang Fan into sparring. Lan Shengxue intervenes and defeats him instead, demonstrating the danger posed by his weak physical defenses 80 81 82.

Church of Justice assassins then lure away his guardian and surround him with three middle-stage first-rank martial artists and one late-stage first-rank martial artist. Jiang Fan intervenes before a killing blow lands and creates an opening for him to escape; Wei Cangyue kills his pursuer 83 84 85.

Ye Qizhen initially recognizes his rescuer as Master Li’s disciple without realizing that the rescuer is Jiang Fan. Yan Tianyang later tells him the truth 85 88 199.

Wilderness Training and the Folded-Space Inheritance

After becoming a martial artist, Ye Qizhen accepts wilderness training rather than relying solely on protected cultivation. Repeated life-and-death battles bring him to middle-stage first rank, and he later returns to watch Jiang Fan compete 199 200 315.

He warns Jiang Fan about the Sharp Edge Squad’s disastrous past and reports his planned expedition to Yan Tianyang. During a later encounter, he recognizes Jiang Fan despite his disguise and agrees to preserve the secret 325 355.

While hunting with his guardians, Ye Qizhen enters a folded space containing a pack of powerful demonic beasts. Separated from the others, he falls into an icy pool and discovers the deceased master’s hidden resting place beneath it. The resulting inheritance raises him to late-stage second rank and Intermediate Psychic 370 371.

Exchange Study and Joint Hunts

Yan Tianyang sends Ye Qizhen to study alongside Jiang Fan, expecting their proximity to stimulate his improvement. Ye Qizhen subsequently supports Jiang Fan against Li Yanhe’s assassins and volunteers to accompany him into the Outer Wilderness Zone 391 393 397.

Jiang Fan subjects him to repeated overnight beast hunts. Although exhausted by the regimen, Ye Qizhen discovers that it helps him digest his inheritance and rapidly advance through third rank 402 403.

When Jiang Fan faces a ninth-rank pursuer, Ye Qizhen urgently asks Little Turtle to intervene. He later reports the Church of Justice’s prolonged pursuit to Yan Tianyang, prompting the commander to leave immediately to rescue Jiang Fan 410 415.

Ruins Species Expedition

After benefiting from the second spiritual energy resurgence, Ye Qizhen joins Jiang Fan’s expedition against the Ruins Species. He fights alongside him and shows complete confidence that Jiang Fan will protect him from an unexpected Second-Molt attacker 429 435.

Ye Qizhen proposes exploiting the Ruins Species’ attraction to Jiang Fan to infiltrate a powerful tribe. The two approach as apparently exhausted fugitives, seeking access to leaders too strong to confront directly 441.

Inside the tribe, he witnesses Jiang Fan’s advancement to Great Psychic and recognizes how much harder catching up has become. After Jiang Fan destroys the tribe, Ye Qizhen offers the cover story that its inhabitants killed one another 446 455.
