Background / History
Transmigration and the First War Behemoth
Lin Fan falls asleep while gaming on Earth and awakens in the body of an ordinary Flame Magnificence Sect disciple. His predecessor shares his name, appearance, and even birthmark, and was an orphan. Within three days, Lin Fan is sent to fight the sect’s invaders despite trying to escape beforehand 1 7.
Initially surviving by playing dead, he kills a wounded silver-horned enemy and activates his point system. His free Eternal Draw grants the Undying Body. After discovering that death is temporary, he takes the injured Lü Qiming’s targeting sphere, reaches the War Behemoth through repeated deaths, and marks it for the Divine Essence Cannon. The attack destroys the beast and blows Lin Fan into the sky 1.
On returning to the temporary base, he is recognized as the disciple who shouted “Fire at me!” Fang Qing records his contribution, while Gao Dazhuang publicly introduces him as a hero. Lin Fan enjoys the admiration but is disappointed that his immediate reward is merely being sent to rest 3.
Interception Force and Wartime Reputation
Lin Fan volunteers to intercept a Sunshine Sect raiding party because the mission appears to offer an escape route. Instead, his friends volunteer alongside him, his speech attracts a thousand disciples, and Lu Daosheng appoints him commander. He attempts to leave through a side path, feels guilty, and decides to return—only to encounter the enemy on that same path 7 8.
Surrounded by Sunshine Sect disciples, he uses lottery weapons and tricks Qiu Li into accepting a grenade disguised as a breakthrough pill. His companions arrive while he is preparing to kill himself and escape after reviving; they interpret the act as refusal to die at enemy hands. Their counterattack routs the raiders, and Lin Fan’s continued fighting despite severe injuries strengthens his heroic reputation 9 10 11 12.
Lu Daosheng subsequently has him address the assembled disciples. Lin Fan borrows stirring declarations from Earth, inspiring the camp even though he still privately intends to leave. Away from the crowds, he begins experimenting with cultivation routes and eventually creates the Proud Bone Body Tempering Art 14 15 16.
During another battle, an unnamed junior disciple takes a sword strike meant for him. Believing the disciple has died, Lin Fan postpones his escape and kills the attacker, Liu Zhenhao, to fulfil his promise of revenge. The wounded junior brother actually survives by taking medicine and resting 18 19.
Qiu Li’s hatred later awakens within a War Behemoth, which pursues Lin Fan across the battlefield. Lin Fan eventually kills it, earning points, but the war ends through peace negotiations before he achieves his planned escape. He returns to the sect with the other disciples and becomes a First-Grade Outer Sect Disciple 20 21 23 24 26.
Bandit Hunt and the Wolf-Fang Club
Lin Fan accepts a nearby bandit-hunting mission intending to roam freely and grow stronger. After discovering that a small group is bait for nearly a hundred bandits, he retreats to the sect, buys scrap iron, and manufactures thirty grenades for a second attempt 26 27 30.
The explosives devastate the bandits, but their leader, Li Xionghe, overpowers him. Lin Fan invents a story about having a young wife to lower Li Xionghe’s guard, then detonates a modified grenade at close range. After reviving, he kills the crippled leader with his own spiked club and takes the Violent Wolf-Fang Club manual 31 32 33.
Training Journey and Liu Feng
Joining his senior brothers on a training mission, Lin Fan discovers that demonic beasts also award points. He slaughters a wolf pack, upgrades his club technique, and later intervenes when Qing Mang threatens his companions and three Wang Lineage disciples. Through feints, surprise attacks, and repeated club strikes, he defeats the Body Tempering Ninth Layer opponent 33 36 37 38 39 49.
Liu Feng subsequently attacks him with Earthly Dipper Realm power. Unable to win through a direct clash, Lin Fan poses as the Magic Lamp and persuades him that a grenade contains a divine inheritance. The explosion leaves Liu Feng helpless; Lin Fan revives and kills him. His companions agree to conceal the killing because Liu Feng was a fellow sect disciple 41 42 43 45.
Preparation for Rosy Cloud Forest
Back at the sect, Lin Fan refines his loot, continues creating techniques, and succeeds in producing the Golden Body Tempering Technique. He then secretly sells copies of the Gale Sword Technique, earning 200,000 Flame Magnificence Currency before stopping ahead of a law-enforcement investigation 45 46 48.
After reaching Body Tempering Ninth Layer, he manufactures several hundred grenades and leaves alone. Three days later, he reaches Rosy Cloud Forest, intending to hunt weaker beasts rather than provoke the Earthly Dipper and Heavenly Dipper beasts deeper inside 49.
Appearance
- Build: Approximately 1.78 metres tall; develops clearly defined muscles and well-proportioned features through Body Tempering cultivation 17 31.
- Cultivation changes: His Fifth Stage breakthrough noticeably increases his height, arm thickness, and overall size 6.
- Combat appearance: Physical enhancement can swell his arms and make their veins resemble coiled dragons 19.
- Shared appearance: Looks identical to his body’s original owner, including a matching birthmark 1.
Personality
Lin Fan initially values survival and personal freedom over the sect’s war. He repeatedly tries to escape, regards himself as a passerby in the unfamiliar world, and wants enough strength to travel without restraint. His Undying Body makes him daring, but he recognizes that immortality does not prevent capture or guarantee freedom 1 2 15 16.
He is boastful, narcissistic, and comfortable manipulating appearances. He embellishes his battlefield exploits, enjoys being admired, and uses dramatic speeches to impress other disciples. Their interpretation of his actions as selfless heroism frequently differs from his private motives 3 6 10 14 49.
Despite his self-interest, genuine loyalty affects him. His companions’ willingness to follow him makes abandoning them difficult, and the junior disciple’s sacrifice drives him to keep a revenge promise rather than take an available escape 8 18 19.
His pursuit of strength combines extraordinary diligence with ruthless opportunism. He cultivates through the night and endures hundreds of fatal experiments, but also targets weak enemies, takes finishing blows for points, and rejects surrender when it would reduce his gains 11 16 17.
Abilities & Skills
Undying Body
His principal talent restores him after death, repeatedly allowing him to revive ten seconds later with his injuries healed 1 12 32.
- Recovery: Survives impalement, decapitation, bodily explosions, and being blown apart by a grenade 1 12 15 32.
- Pain immunity: Feels no pain, though his sense of touch remains 4 16.
- Deliberate resets: Kills himself to remove severe injuries or restore his exhausted condition 12 23 36.
- Limits: Can still be overpowered or badly wounded while alive. He considers capture a threat and often hides his resurrection from observers 2 7 11 41.
Point System and Lottery
The system separates Points, obtained from kills, from Hard Cultivation Points, used to raise his cultivation 1 2 4.
- Kill rewards: Both enemy cultivators and demonic beasts provide Points; rewards vary between targets 9 11 36.
- Cultivation resources: Training, refining pills, and documented deaths increase Hard Cultivation Points 4 12 13.
- Lottery: Bronze draws cost 100 points and Silver draws cost 300; higher options remain locked through Chapter 49 12 49.
- Technique upgrades: Points directly improve offensive techniques such as the Violent Wolf-Fang Club, without raising his cultivation realm 33.
- Unreliable draws: Results include weapons, pills, manuals, useless objects, and outright failures 12 21.
Body Tempering and Technique Creation
Lin Fan uses cultivation arts to strengthen his body and accumulate Hard Cultivation Points. His pain immunity permits unusually harsh training, although excessive exertion can still injure him 4 6 7.
- Accelerated training: Combining the Body Refining Art with boulder impacts produces points five times faster than his usual cultivation 6.
- Experimental method: Records successful routes and eliminates fatal ones through repeated resurrection 16.
- Creation limit: After producing a High-Rank Human Grade art, he concludes that further improvement requires a Mystic Grade Cultivation Technique Creation Guide 46.
Violent Wolf-Fang Club
An offensive art taken from Li Xionghe that increases strength, weapon mastery, explosive force, and eventually speed 33 34 37.
- Air explosion: Releases explosive force around the club, splitting the ground on impact 33.
- Higher-level combat: Its advanced mastery helps him defeat Qing Mang despite the opponent’s higher cultivation 39 49.
- Limits: His confidence in challenging the Earthly Dipper Realm does not translate into matching Liu Feng’s speed and Yuan Power in direct combat 34 41.
Explosives and Deception
Lin Fan manufactures grenades and combines them with feigned weakness, false treasures, and close-range detonation tactics 23 30 32 42.
- Mass attacks: Uses grenades to devastate groups of bandits 30.
- Suicidal attacks: Accepts his own destruction to expose stronger opponents to point-blank blasts 32.
- Misdirection: Passes grenades off as a breakthrough pill and a divine inheritance 9 42.
- Combat feints: Distracts Qing Mang, attacks during apparent pauses, and uses a groin strike to gain an advantage 39.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Wolf-fang club: Li Xionghe’s stolen spiked weapon; becomes the focus of Lin Fan’s offensive technique 32 33.
- Nine-ring broadsword: Initially seized from a Sunshine Sect disciple; used for combat and deliberate resurrection resets 9 12 23.
- Type 82-2 hand grenades: First obtained through the lottery, then mass-produced from a manufacturing manual. He carries several hundred when leaving for Rosy Cloud Forest 9 23 49.
