In the ruined ancient forest, the blood-drenched youth's eyes grew ever more ferocious.

Boom!

Yet the next instant, the stone spear smashed down again. Qingyang Huan punched to block it and was sent flying once more.

"You're the first person to ever regard this venerable one as prey."

Shimmering with faint purple light, the stone spear flew to where Qingyang Huan had fallen and plunged into the ground right beside his ear.

"This venerable one will give you a chance. Reach the body casting extreme realm within two years, and I'll teach you a method that opens at least six treasures!"

Lying prone on the ground, Qingyang Huan stared fixedly at the stone spear. He wanted to laugh, but the blood at the corners of his mouth was smeared with dirt, and the movement tugged at his wounds, making him suck in a cold breath.

"Senior, do you truly mean that?"

But no more purple light rippled from the stone spear. Clearly, it had fallen dormant again.

"Ha...!"

Struggling to sit up, he burst into laughter. A heaven-sent opportunity-he had finally seized it!

Across the wild lands, from the Human Race multiplying in the Great Wilderness and contending with heaven and earth for life, down to his Qingyang sheltering ten thousand li of territory and carrying on its lineage, weren't all living beings struggling?

Even though his whole body now hurt as if it had been shattered, what did that amount to beside an opportunity that might let him leave the Ancient Land of La Mountain?

Worth it!

Pfft!

Pulling the stone spear out of the ground, Qingyang Huan used it as a crutch and headed out of the ancient forest. This place was far too dangerous. Earlier, the purple light manifested by the stone spear could intimidate the many fierce beasts, but now the spear had fallen dormant again.

"Awooo! Awooo! Awooo!"

Fortunately, he had not gone far before he heard howls ahead. The familiar sound made Qingyang Huan breathe a sigh of relief. The Qingyang Clan's warriors had begun searching for him, their young lord!

Rumbling erupted through the ancient forest. The earth trembled as though fierce beasts were passing through, and a savage presence surged through the surroundings.

Three li away, a group of thirty or forty men exuded a fierce, baleful presence. Each carried several white bone spears as thick as an arm on his back.

Howling as they advanced, they hurled their bone spears, punching straight through the ancient trees before them!

"Awooo! Awooo! Awooo!"

A rain of bone spears pierced the ancient forest. The burly men displayed their wild, overbearing might, howling loudly as they crushed their way through like a band of wild men!

"Big Brother, I'm here!"

"It's the little young lord! I heard the little young lord's voice!"

A voice like muffled thunder rang out. A man a zhang tall, whose rough beast hide could not cover his dark, gleaming physique, hurriedly waved to stop the men throwing spears.

Qingyang Huan saw the dark-skinned, burly man too. He was long accustomed to that build. The men of the Great Wilderness were all brawny and rugged. Even some of the tribe's women were broad and thickset, sometimes carrying spears just like the men and charging into the ancient forest to wrestle fierce beasts. They were truly ferocious.

"You little bastard! You shook off the clan guards and sneaked into the ancient forest again! If I don't beat you so badly you spend three months bedridden in the tribe, I'm not your big brother!"

Soon, an angry roar came from the ancient forest ahead. A burly man with a bow on his back crashed through the forest toward Qingyang Huan, already swinging up his large hand halfway there!

"Little Brother!"

But when he saw Qingyang Huan leaning on the crude stone spear, drenched in blood, the burly man's hand did not fall.

"Which beast left you looking like this? I'll hunt it down and stew it into soup for you!" Fury filled Qingyang Luan's eyes as he roared.

At that moment, Qingyang Huan could not help glancing at the stone spear. Fortunately, it did not react.

Seeing his pitiful appearance, Qingyang Luan said irritably, "The ancient forest is full of dangers. You're lucky you're only injured. Aren't you afraid some exotic beast will carry you off? If there's a next time, I'll break your legs!"

Watching his big brother strive to look fierce, Qingyang Huan smiled, but it tugged at his wounds, making him grimace.

"Come on, back to the tribe!"

Immediately afterward, Qingyang Huan was hoisted onto his big brother's shoulder. Waves of pain coursed through him, forcing him to grit his teeth.

His big brother really was a little rough.

"If we don't get back soon, Mother will worry. Thank goodness you're all right. This time, I hunted down a Divine Treasure Realm Black-Horned Python. The blood Qi essence extracted from it will be enough for you to temper your blood into your bones, and even refine it into your marrow. Then let the neighboring Wandering Cloud Tribe and Golden Spear Clan envy us! My little brother is the true genius!"

Carrying Qingyang Huan, Qingyang Luan kept rambling on. Soon, the group headed out of the ancient forest and joined the Qingyang Tribe's hunting party.

The party numbered several hundred. The burly men all had bare chests marked with scars and carried various kinds of prey on their shoulders, including black bears and pythons. Every beast was at least a zhang in size.

The burly men shouted and howled to one another as they headed toward the Qingyang settlement.

"I heard there's a girl with good talent in the Wandering Cloud Tribe. Little Brother, go carry her back sometime so she can carry on our Qingyang Clan's line!"

"That's right, little young lord. You're already thirteen. You're old enough! Go to the Wandering Cloud Tribe and carry that little woman back. Make her one of our Qingyang!"

"Awooo! Carry her back! Carry her back! Little young lord, go carry her back today! All this prey can be our gifts. Before long, our Qingyang will have a little little young lord! Awooo!"

His big brother's words immediately sent the men around them howling, each supporting Qingyang Huan in going to the Wandering Cloud Tribe to carry back a wife.

Lying prone on a Scale-Horned Horse, Qingyang Huan still ached all over, but he was not the least bit bashful. The men of the Great Wilderness were like this. The more bashful you were, the further their teasing would push, rough and unrestrained.

Just like that, the party soon returned to the Qingyang Clan's territory, a mountain range spanning over ten li in the middle of a wasteland.

Ancient trees spread tangled roots throughout the mountain range, and clear springs flowed. Hidden bunkers and traps lay around its perimeter, and sharp glints even flickered faintly in some concealed places.

The several ancient mountains at its center had already been hollowed out. There were also three small valleys, where rows of stone houses could be faintly seen. Everything looked exceedingly rough-hewn.

They passed an ancient stone stele bearing a few cracks. Carved upon it were two archaic cloud-script characters spelling "Qingyang." It had been erected when Qingyang established its clan, several thousand years ago.

After returning to the tribe, Qingyang Huan first went to see his mother and received another scolding before returning to his stone house. About two hours later, the burly man a zhang tall from earlier arrived carrying a black pottery jar.

"Little young lord, this is the blood Qi essence extracted from the Divine Treasure Realm fierce beast the eldest young lord hunted!" the burly man boomed.

The burly man turned and left, and Qingyang Huan carried the pottery jar back inside his stone house.

Despite his status as a young lord of the Qingyang Clan, his room was actually quite simple: a stone bed, a stone table, and a large bow made from wild ox horn hanging on the wall.

Sitting cross-legged on the stone bed, he gripped the stone spear again. Unfortunately, ever since falling dormant in the ancient forest, it had shown no further activity.

The body casting extreme realm-this was his trial, and also the opportunity he had fought to obtain.

To gain something, he had to give something. Though he was only a youth, he still understood that no fortune simply fell from the sky. In this great age, one had to contend-contend for life, contend for survival.

Simply put, reaching the body casting extreme realm meant producing an extraordinary manifestation at every step while tempering the skin, flesh, blood, bones, and marrow: Skin Wrinkling, Radiance Born of Flesh and Blood, rosy light gathering in the blood, patterns branded onto the battle bones, and Bone Marrow Life-Nurturing!

This represented the utmost limit of tempering.

In the Great Wilderness, after completing the five steps of body forging, a Body Forging Realm warrior would develop a tremendous strength of ten thousand jin, enough to rival an adult Dragon Horse.

With almost every completed step of the five steps of body forging, one gained another two thousand jin of strength. Now that he had begun tempering his battle bones, his strength was already approaching seven thousand jin. Once he perfected his body forging, his strength would certainly exceed ten thousand jin.

Yet even so, he remained a great distance from the body casting extreme realm!

According to legend, after the five steps' manifestations converged at the body casting extreme realm, blood Qi would rise like beacon smoke and manifest the strength of a flood dragon. That was strength surpassing a Dragon Horse's!

But this was the opportunity the stone spear had given him. If he could not attain the extreme realm, perhaps keeping the stone spear and obtaining another opportunity would be even more impossible then!
