History
Rise to Regional Power
The Qingyang Clan’s inheritance extends back thousands of years. Its rise as the protector of ten thousand li occurred roughly two thousand years before Qingyang Huan’s wilderness training, after the previous ruling clan suffered internal strife and devastating losses against other races. A Qingyang ancestor seized the opportunity to establish the clan’s regional supremacy 2 6.
In recognition of its service to humanity, La Mountain’s regional lord bestowed the Qingyang Token, authorizing the clan to shelter the territory. A variant Qingyang Hou accompanied the ancestor during this rise, beginning the succession of guardian beasts maintained by the clan 6 20.
The strongest cultivator in Qingyang’s recorded history reached the Totem Realm approximately one thousand years before the opening chapters. That achievement had become legendary; the clan’s established cultivation inheritance in Qingyang Huan’s time supported advancement through the Spirit Seizing Realm 2 32.
Wood Race Campaign
After discovering hundreds of Wood Race members searching a swamp within Qingyang territory, Qingyang Huan reported their presence to the clan leadership. During the same council, he revealed the improved Five Body Forging Methods supplied by the Stone Spear 8.
Qingyang’s soldiers defeated the Wood Race force and returned with more than fifty captives. The victory cost twenty-three clan warriors their lives and left over a hundred wounded. Qingyang Huan recovered a Thousand-Year Tree Heart, which Qingyang Jue helped the injured Grand Elder refine in seclusion 10 11.
The treasure healed Qingyang Rong’s longstanding injuries and enabled his advancement to the Spirit Seizing Realm, substantially strengthening Qingyang’s position against its neighbors 18.
Copper Mine Dispute
Qingyang Huan discovered a purple copper deposit being worked by the Inkstone Mountain Tribe. His attempt to secure it led to a deadly confrontation with their soldiers, after which he abandoned the site and returned home 15 16.
Qingyang Jue chose not to rush the dispute, confident that Qingyang Rong’s breakthrough had shifted the balance of power. Rong later forced the Inkstone Mountain warriors to withdraw and surrender their weapons and armor, then prepared to transport the accumulated ore using a spatial bone rune 18 21 23.
Four-Tribe Martial Challenge
Concerned by Qingyang’s growing strength, Inkstone Mountain organized a visit with the Fire Dragon, Wandering Cloud, and Golden Spear tribes. Their plan targeted Qingyang’s shortage of Divine Treasure Realm fighters under twenty, rather than its powerful senior generation 24 31 32.
Qingyang Jue commissioned a hundred-zhang battle platform three li outside Qingyang Mountain and ordered the Qingyang Guard to delay the Golden Spear party for ten days. He initially charged Qingyang Huan with defending the clan’s reputation, then selected the newly advanced Jin Wei as a representative despite objections to his outsider status 32 33 34.
Qingyang Huan defeated the visiting challengers, and the four tribes withdrew. Jin Wei’s bloodline awakening during the confrontation gave Qingyang another exceptional young cultivator 37 38.

Qingyang Guard
- Patrols the clan’s extensive territory and fights hostile forces, including the rival northern tribe’s guard 18.
- Includes warriors selected from other tribes, not only Qingyang clansmen 8.
- Reports the movement of important visitors soon after they enter Qingyang territory 33.
- Carries out strategic orders such as delaying the Golden Spear delegation at Shouyang Mountain 33.
Cultivation and Martial Inheritance
Five Body Forging Methods
The clan’s foundational body-tempering inheritance is coveted by surrounding tribes. The Stone Spear’s revisions are three or four times more profound than the original methods; Qingyang Huan judges that their long-term adoption could double the clan’s strength 2.
| Method | Body-tempering focus |
|---|---|
| Azure Scale Skin Tempering Method | Skin 2 |
| True Essence Condensation Method | Flesh 2 12 |
| Blood Burning Method | Blood 2 |
| Bone Hammering Method | Bones 2 |
| Marrow Cleansing Method | Marrow 2 |
- After receiving the revisions, the clan retrains both children and youths who have reached only the first or second Body Casting steps 8 21.
- The elders accept losing a year or two of immediate progress to improve those youths’ future chances of reaching the Divine Repository stage 21.
Higher Cultivation Methods
- Three Yang Treasure Opening Method — The clan’s established Divine Repository cultivation art 32.
- Spirit Seizing and Soul Condensing Method — Completes the inherited cultivation path through the Spirit Seizing Realm 32.
- Blood Treasure Method — Acquired by Qingyang Jue from a slain demon and believed capable of opening at least four treasures. Its severe pain and destructive demands caused previous clan practitioners to fail; Jue rejects widespread adoption in favor of stability 32.
Spear Arts
- Kui Ox Spear Technique — A foundational nine-form art preserved on nine stone steles in the ancestral hall. It combines offense and defense; complete mastery allows strikes carrying wind, rain, and thunder 19.
- Kui Ox True Body — The ninth form. Qingyang Jue has mastered only through the eighth, unable to reproduce the true creature’s divine bearing without having seen one 19.
- Severing the Void — An ancestral spear technique used by Qingyang Huan against Inkstone Mountain soldiers 16.
Training and Resources
- Children receive their first blood Qi baptism in stone vats using essence extracted from hunted fierce beasts 20.
- The clan maintains an established cultivation path for its children, while young lords receive substantially greater resources 1 19.
- Fewer than one thousand of its thirty thousand members have entered the Divine Treasure Realm. Most of those have opened only one repository after years of accumulation 4.
- Boys of thirteen or fourteen already participate in tribal campaigns 20.
- Qingyang pledges extensive support to Huan’s cultivation, but his repeated rebuilding of Body Forging eventually consumes enough resources that Qingyang Jue sends him into the wilderness to hunt 11 39 43.
Guardian Beast and Treasures
- Qingyang Hou — The clan’s strongest guardian war beast, described as mightier than Qingyang Jue. It carries a trace of the True Hou’s bloodline and sleeps within the ancestral valley 20.
- Guardian succession — The original Hou brought back a young successor before dying; that successor later did the same. The current guardian is the third generation 20.
- Qingyang Token — Granted by La Mountain’s regional lord in recognition of the clan’s protection of humanity 6.
- Thousand-Year Tree Heart — Captured during the Wood Race campaign and used to heal Qingyang Rong, enabling his breakthrough 10 18.
- Spatial bone rune — Used by Qingyang Rong to move the copper ore reclaimed from Inkstone Mountain 23.
- Bronze weapons and armor — Military equipment is repeatedly captured and recaptured in disputes with Inkstone Mountain; some surrendered spears still bear Qingyang’s cloud patterns 23.
Governance and External Relations
Territorial Policy
- Qingyang protects human settlements primarily by hunting hostile members of other races, rather than directly controlling every protected tribe 6.
- It permits subordinate tribes to compete, fight, and annex one another, regarding such struggle as a means of producing stronger warriors 6.
- Challenges to Qingyang’s own supremacy are met with force 6.
- Its protection is incomplete: large areas remain unexplored, and dozens of settlements within its jurisdiction were destroyed in the year preceding the Wood Race campaign 6 10.
Relationships
- Ancient Land of La Mountain — Regional authority above Qingyang; its lord granted the clan its protective mandate 6 18.
- Inkstone Mountain Tribe — Longstanding northern rival. Resource disputes and equipment seizures are common, but both sides generally avoid an all-out war that would weaken humanity against other races 18 23.
- Wandering Cloud Tribe — Western competitor with whom Qingyang maintains exchanges despite recurring friction 28.
- Fire Dragon Tribe and Golden Spear Clan — Fellow major tribes that join Inkstone Mountain and Wandering Cloud in challenging Qingyang’s younger generation 24 34.
- The five major tribes — Jointly defend the wilderness north of La Mountain’s ancient city and cooperate in campaigns against other races; relative strength determines leadership of those campaigns 31.
- Wood Race — Hostile race discovered within Qingyang territory and attacked by the clan’s soldiers 8 10.
