Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Body Forging Realm 1 Reached this realm by thirteen; initially fought using a Qiongqi Bone Rune and the stone spear.
Cultivation rebuilt; Slaughter Bone Rune awakened 4 Severed his previous cultivation to rebuild his foundation. With the Stone Spear's help, reforged the Qiongqi Bone Rune over three days and nights.
Skin Wrinkling; 6,000 jin 7 8 Absorbed a Wood Race warrior's blood and bone essence. His skin developed protective folds, and the Slaughter Bone Rune fully merged with his body.
Radiance Born of Flesh and Blood; 8,000–9,000 jin 12 Used a waterfall, concentrated blood Qi, and the Slaughter Bone Rune to temper his flesh. Rosy points of light began appearing within it.
Blood Refining begun 13 Entered the third step of Body Casting after further hunting and guidance. Recognized that his practical fighting ability lagged behind his cultivation.
10,000 jin 15 Demonstrated this force while ambushing Inkstone Mountain soldiers near the purple copper mine.
Nine major meridians opened 22 Refined the blood Qi of two Dragon Whisker Fish in one sustained push, then stopped to consolidate and nurture the blood within the opened meridians.
Eleven blood vessels opened; nearly 15,000 jin 24 Continued opening his vessels through wilderness combat while suppressing his blood Qi to develop rosy light within his blood.
Blood Refining completed; 17,000 jin 27 28 Blood Qi penetrated the smaller vessel networks throughout his body; his flesh radiated light and his blood contained rosy radiance.
More than 20,000 jin 38 His strength exceeded this mark by the time Jin Wei awakened his bloodline.
Bone Tempering Realm 39 Reached the fourth step of Body Casting before undertaking the clan's blood-medicine treatment.
Full Body Casting Extreme Realm; slightly over 30,000 jin 40 41 Endured nine days in a medicinal cauldron, cleansing his marrow and producing Blood Qi beacon smoke. His attempted flood-dragon manifestation still resembled a bloated water snake.
Second recultivation peak; over 36,000 jin 42 Rebuilt his cultivation again under the Stone Spear's guidance.
Third recultivation peak; 39,000 jin 42 Completed after another three months.
Fourth recultivation peak; 42,000 jin 42 Took two months; his Blood Qi manifestation became less bloated but remained snake-like.
Fifth recultivation peak; 44,000 jin 42 Took one and a half months.
Sixth recultivation peak; 46,000 jin 42 Took one month.
Seventh recultivation peak; 47,000 jin 42 Took twenty-five days.
Eighth recultivation peak; over 48,000 jin 42 Took fifteen days. Each rebuilding used a different Body Casting formula, with progressively smaller gains.
Ninth recultivation; peak Body Forging, 49,999 jin 43 Reached this strength after two months of hunting toward La Mountain, but could not cross the 50,000-jin barrier.
Divine Treasure Realm; successive repository openings 48 Used the Brown Bear Source Treasure Method after preparing with Blood Essence Fruit. The first repository raised his strength to 80,000 jin; the chapter identifies two openings in succession.

Terminology: Skin Wrinkling is called “the Body Casting Extreme Realm” during his early rebuilding, although his father explicitly recognizes that he remains in Body Forging. The later breakthrough produces the full Blood Qi beacon-smoke manifestation 8 40 41.

Background

Qingyang Huan is the youngest child of Qingyang Jue, chief of the Qingyang Clan. His clan shelters hundreds of tribes and settlements across ten thousand li. As a young master, he received its finest medicinal treasures and fierce-beast blood Qi from birth, alongside harsher training intended to prepare him for responsibility 1 8.

He began martial Foundation Establishment three years before the opening chapters. During that period, he acquired the broken stone spear after an encounter involving a fleeing Qiongqi. His repeated excursions into the wilderness worried his mother and sometimes prompted the clansmen to search for him 1 8.

Appearance

Qingyang Huan has a youthful face and commonly wears a beast-hide robe while hunting and fighting 1 2.

  • Wrinkled skin membrane: Protective folds appear when he exerts his rebuilt cultivation 7 8 25.
  • Crescent rune: The Slaughter Bone Rune manifests in his palm rather than retaining the earlier Qiongqi phantom 7.
  • Blood Qi manifestations: His cultivation produces blood-colored radiance, rosy light, and eventually a flood-dragon-shaped manifestation 28 40 48.

Personality

Qingyang Huan is stubborn about opportunities. Even when the Stone Spear repeatedly beats him and dismisses his talent, he refuses to release it or accept its improved cultivation methods as sufficient compensation. His father shares this insistence on securing a tangible benefit whenever fortune appears 2 11.

His ambition is tied to protecting his family and clan, but he also wants to explore the wider world. He shares the improved Body Forging methods rather than keeping them for himself and hunts to support the next generation, recognizing that Qingyang cannot depend on his strength alone 8 19.

He is ruthless and calculating toward opponents, yet not indiscriminately murderous. He initially keeps the Inkstone Mountain soldiers alive, ignores a Wood Race warrior's attempts to provoke an unnecessary direct confrontation, and abandons the copper mine when remaining would endanger his life. Against Jin Wei, he chooses recruitment over killing 10 15 16 25 26.

At home, he is playful and affectionate. He placates his mother with exaggerated complaints, brings fruit to the children, and mischievously makes them undergo their painful first blood Qi baptisms after they tease him. Encounters with veteran warriors and Jin Wei also force him to acknowledge the limits of raw strength and his tendency to underestimate others 8 16 19 20 25.

Abilities & Skills

Improved Five Body Forging Methods

The Stone Spear transmits versions of the Qingyang Clan's methods that are three or four times more profound than its existing inheritance 2.

  • The five methods are Azure Scale Skin Tempering, True Essence Condensation, Blood Burning, Bone Hammering, and Marrow Cleansing 2.
  • Qingyang Huan passes the improved inheritance to the clan, leading its children and some previously trained youths to cultivate anew 8 21.
  • He repeatedly rebuilds his own foundation with different Body Casting formulas to uncover additional potential 42.
  • Resources alone do not guarantee progress: he must also temper his body through combat and learn to apply his strength effectively 13.

Slaughter Bone Rune

Reforged from his Qiongqi Bone Rune, this crescent-shaped rune embodies primal slaughter and gives him early contact with the Dao of Slaughter 4 7 8.

  • Physical refinement: Stimulates his flesh and blood, allowing him to absorb more blood Qi essence 7.
  • Combat awakening: Its power develops through mortal struggle and the boundary between life and death 7.
  • Intensive tempering: Cuts through his flesh and breaks apart incoming blood Qi, helping it penetrate and fuse with his body 12.
  • Danger: Causes severe pain and can influence him toward a blood-colored daze and growing delight in killing 7 12.

Spearmanship

Qingyang Huan practices ancestral Qingyang spear arts and learns to favor simple, effective killing techniques over elaborate movements 16 25.

  • Severing the Void: Used to meet a peak Body Forging warrior's attack head-on 16.
  • Kui Ox Spear Technique: A nine-form clan inheritance combining offense and defense; he masters its first three moves after three months of practice 19 20.
  • Kui Ox Emerges from the Mountain: Deflects a Black-Spotted Python's sudden attack 20.
  • Surging Thunder: Releases concentrated spear light capable of piercing the python 20.
  • Limits: The first three forms initially consume substantial strength. A cramped cave also forces him to abandon his spear and fight barehanded 19 25.

Divine Repositories

Qingyang Huan enters the Divine Treasure Realm through the Brown Bear Source Treasure Method, forming a blood Qi bear to strike open his first repository 47 48.

  • His first opening increases his strength to 80,000 jin 48.
  • The repository connects him to blood-red essence Qi outside his body, allowing continued nourishment and more sustained strength in battle 48.
  • He aspires to open nine repositories, but the Stone Spear has no ready-made method to give him and warns that even nine-repository geniuses are not assured survival or kingship 47.

Hunting and Battlefield Tactics

  • Uses ambushes, concealed positions, and controlled blows to disable soldiers 15.
  • Orders a forest fire to force a Wood Race opponent out of hiding 10.
  • Coordinates with Jin Wei to bring down a Divine Treasure Realm Earthwalking Dragon 26.
  • Recognizes when to retreat, fleeing the copper mine after an enemy releases a reinforcement signal 16.
  • Uses a Stone Spear-provided Ferocious Beast Contract to bind Zi'er, preventing the marten from resisting his commands 46 47.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Broken Stone Spear — An intelligent weapon that drains and stores blood Qi, communicates mentally, purges bodily impurities, and provides cultivation guidance. Its assistance comes with demands for repayment in blood Qi 1 2 13 17.
  • Bronze war spear — A longer weapon chosen because the stone spear is somewhat too short for him; used to practice the Kui Ox Spear Technique 19.
  • Thousand-Year Tree Heart — Taken from a Wood Race warrior and used to restore Qingyang Rong's vitality, enabling his advancement to the Spirit Seizing Realm 10 18.
  • Blood Essence Fruits — Obtained from Zi'er and used to prepare for opening his Divine Repository 46 47.

Relationships

  • Qingyang Jue — Father and clan chief. Pushes him toward responsibility, commits clan resources to his cultivation, and expects him to defend Qingyang's honor 7 11 32.
  • Mother, unnamed — Deeply protective of her youngest child. Scolds him for dangerous excursions but quickly softens when he seeks her affection 8 18.
  • Qingyang Luan — Eldest brother, who assists their father with tribal affairs. Supplies and protects Huan, declaring that his younger brother's enemies are his own 8 11.
  • Qingyang Hao — Second brother and Qingyang Guard member. Returns with a Divine Treasure Realm python needed for Huan's blood medicine 8 40.
  • Third sister, unnamed — Married into the Yuehe Tribe, three hundred li away, two years before his early wilderness adventures 8.
  • Qingyang Rong — Grand elder and supporter. Promises to become Huan's Dao protector, accompanies him to reclaim the copper mine, and benefits from the Tree Heart Huan obtained 11 18 22.
  • Stone Spear — Weapon, demanding mentor, and transactional partner. Challenges his complacency while supplying knowledge and blood Qi; Huan remains puzzled by its conflicting generosity and insistence on payment 2 40 47.
  • Jin Wei — Initially an opponent, later a hunting companion recruited into Qingyang. Huan obtains a treasure-opening method for him while treating his growing strength as a personal challenge 25 26 31 32 38.
  • Zi'er — Purple marten bound through a master-servant contract. Resents losing its freedom and treasures; Huan later recruits it for treasure hunting by promising it their finds 46 47 49.
  • Yun Caiyue — Gifted Wandering Cloud Tribe rival. Her strength motivates him to improve; he later provokes her before Jin Wei fights her on Qingyang's battle platform 28 37.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Awakening the Stone Spear

After the stone spear consumes a bloodline-awakened Scale-Horned Eagle, Qingyang Huan discovers that it is alive. He clings to it through repeated beatings until it offers a bargain: reach the Body Casting Extreme Realm within two years, and it will teach him a method capable of opening at least six treasures 1 2 3.

Wood Race Incursion and the Copper Mine

His solitary training uncovers hundreds of Wood Race members searching a swamp. He reports them to the clan, contributes the improved Body Forging inheritance, and joins the campaign that secures the Thousand-Year Tree Heart for Qingyang Rong 8 10 18.

Later, he discovers an Inkstone Mountain purple copper mine and attempts to seize it through ambushes. The soldiers' coordinated counterattack teaches him that combat experience can offset superior strength. After he escapes, the newly advanced Qingyang Rong takes him back to reclaim the deposit 15 16 19 22 23.

Supporting Qingyang and Recruiting Jin Wei

Huan hunts fierce beasts for children beginning the improved cultivation methods and helps administer their first blood Qi baptisms. During further wilderness training, he encounters Jin Wei, defeats him narrowly, and persuades him to come to Qingyang 19 20 25 26.

The pair hunt together and defeat an Earthwalking Dragon. Huan subsequently brings Jin Wei into the clan and asks his father for a suitable treasure-opening method, securing the dangerous Blood Treasure Method for him 26 31 32.

The Four-Tribe Challenge

When neighboring tribes prepare to challenge Qingyang's younger generation, Qingyang Jue assigns Huan responsibility for stopping them outside the mountain. The clan delays the visitors and supplies resources for his cultivation 32 33.

Jin Wei wins the principal bouts before gravely injuring himself against Yun Caiyue. Huan steps onto the platform and challenges the remaining youths but ultimately does not get his own fight. Jin Wei's breakthrough and bloodline awakening spur him to seek greater strength through the clan's blood-medicine treatment 36 37 38 39.

Journey Toward La Mountain

After repeated recultivation consumes extensive clan resources, Qingyang Jue sends Huan back into the wilderness. Huan and Jin Wei head toward La Mountain to find powerful beasts and opportunities for their next breakthroughs 42 43.

Following their escape from a flying python, Huan binds Zi'er and takes Blood Essence Fruits from its hoard. He advances to the Divine Treasure Realm, then returns to Great Locust Mountain with his companions to search for treasures amid the threat posed by a massive red-eyed ape horde 46 47 48 49.

Trivia

  • His favorite food is Brocade Forest Bird, which his mother prepares for him after his return from the copper-mine conflict 19.
