Background / History

Family and early career

Bibi Dong inherited her two top-tier Spider Emperor martial souls from her parents, both of whom were high-level Soul Masters. Unlike Xuan Ming’s mutated twin martial souls, hers are presented as a normal inheritance of two closely matched parental martial souls 184.

As Qian Xunji’s disciple and Spirit Hall’s Holy Maiden, she developed a relationship with Yu Xiaogang during his years in Spirit City and accompanied him to Sea God Island. Yue Guan reported the relationship to Qian Xunji, but the Pope neither intervened nor instructed his subordinates to stop it 111 201.

While still Holy Maiden, Bibi Dong proposed extending Spirit Hall’s influence into the Heaven Dou Empire through a puppet prince. Her arguments won Elder Hall support, although the elders considered a potentially uncontrollable puppet too risky. Qian Renxue heard the proposal and later insisted on carrying out the infiltration herself 35.

Becoming Xuan Ming’s patron

When Yue Guan brought Xuan Ming to the Pope’s Palace, Bibi Dong diagnosed the dangerous partial fusion of his martial souls and the damage caused by forcing his Soul Power through their blockage. She initially agreed to invest in him because of his potential, openly treating her assistance as an effort to recruit him 25 34 58.

Repairing the conflict proved costly. Xuan Ming’s Black Dragon resisted even her Soul Devouring Spider Emperor, leaving that martial soul weakened enough to require an estimated six months to a year of recovery. She nevertheless completed the repair and supervised his medicinal baths 39 40.

After Xuan Ming departed for Heaven Dou City with Qian Renxue, Bibi Dong maintained contact through Yue Guan’s almost annual visits, sometimes accompanied by Hu Liena. She avoided openly competing for him while Qian Daoliu supported Qian Renxue 91.

Emotional conflict and the Worship Hall struggle

During Xuan Ming’s later return, the Nine-Tailed Heavenly Fox amplified Bibi Dong’s desires and resentment. She restrained him and attempted to force intimacy, eventually calling him “Xiaogang”; he broke free and repelled her. She subsequently confronted the fox, which used her feelings, her past relationship, and Hu Liena’s affection for Xuan Ming to torment her 96 97.

Bibi Dong later apologized and asked for a chance to make amends, but Xuan Ming rejected her appeals. When the fox incapacitated him with Rakshasa evil thoughts, she removed the contamination and watched over him throughout the night 113.

Her protection of Xuan Ming brought her into direct conflict with Qian Daoliu. She took Qian Renxue hostage to stop him from killing Xuan Ming and later defended the valley where Xuan Ming was recovering. The confrontation destroyed the remaining pretense of cooperation between her and the Worship Hall 121 123 126.

Golden Crocodile subsequently assumed almost all practical authority over the Pope’s Palace. Bibi Dong remained Pope in name, stayed away from Spirit City, and waited for an opportunity to recover her position 148 154.

Tournament crisis and imperial rule

Bibi Dong challenged Golden Crocodile’s handling of Spirit Hall and defended her right to direct its affairs. During the tournament, she also rejected Yu Xiaogang’s request for guidance on Tang San’s twin martial souls, confiscating and destroying his Pope Token 161 162 199 200.

After Qian Renxue’s disguise as Xue Qinghe was exposed, Bibi Dong sealed Spirit City, compelled Ning Fengzhi to declare his allegiance, and kept him and Sword Douluo under house arrest. She ordered the Soul Hunting Plan to begin immediately 219.

Under her leadership, Spirit Hall developed into a centralized empire controlling nearly seventy percent of the continent’s Soul Master forces. Its expansion continued despite resistance from the allied Heaven Dou and Star Luo empires 231 256.

Reform, godhood, and later duties

The Rakshasa inheritance aggravated Bibi Dong’s jealousy and emotional instability. Xuan Ming confronted the danger directly, then trained her until her domain could govern its sinister power rather than be governed by it. As empress, she combined internal purges with technological development. She established a Soul Tool research institute using materials and specialists brought from the Sun Moon Empire, recognizing that coercive order alone could not provide lasting stability 294 299.

After the two great empires submitted, she delegated daily government to Qian Renxue and entered seclusion. On returning, she condemned Qian Renxue’s accommodation of resurgent old interests and launched another purge.
