Chapters 152–176 Vol. 2 Read

Ch. 152The Cloak of Levitation's Approval

Strange tried to escape Kaecilius and was driven into a collection room, where the Cloak of Levitation intervened and helped him bind Kaecilius. After Strange uncovered Kaecilius’s mouth, he saw a chilling fanaticism in the defeated sorcerer’s eyes.

  • Strange opened an improvised portal that sent Kaecilius’s two followers into a desert and a rainforest, but Kaecilius blasted Strange through a door into the collection room.
  • Strange threw several magical artifacts at Kaecilius after failing to activate them, then reached for an axe on the wall.
  • The Cloak of Levitation yanked Strange away from the axe and knocked the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak into his arms.
  • Strange threw the bands at Kaecilius, and they bound him and forced him to his knees.
  • Strange removed the restraint from Kaecilius’s mouth and saw fanaticism in his eyes.

Ch. 153Two in one, I really didn't have the energy to split the chapters.

Strange defeated Lucian after Kaecilius escaped, then refused the New York Sanctum’s vacant position as its sorcerer because he had killed someone. The Ancient One challenged Strange’s belief that he had become selfless, leaving him to confront the ego that had driven him as a doctor.

  • Kaecilius argued that serving Dormammu would grant eternal life, while Strange realized he had once treated patients as insignificant tools and insisted that every life mattered.
  • Lucian ambushed Strange with his stolen Sling Ring, and Kaecilius escaped after sensing Lynn’s hidden power; Lynn subtly helped Strange gain the advantage and knock Lucian unconscious.
  • Lynn and The Ancient One returned with Mordo and Wong, and Strange reported that Kaecilius had escaped and that another attacker was dead.
  • The Ancient One offered Strange the New York Sanctum’s vacant position, but Strange refused the title of Master and said he would not kill again.
  • The Ancient One told Strange that, as a doctor, he had wanted to save only himself and reminded him that no one could control death.

Ch. 154Strange's Challenge

Strange confronted The Ancient One about drawing power from the Dark Dimension to prolong her life, while Mordo defended her and condemned Strange for avoiding responsibility. Lynn left Strange his contact information before departing with Wong, and the chapter ended with Strange alone in the Sanctum after Mordo walked away.

  • The Ancient One explained that Dormammu fed on fear, and Strange pressed her about the Dark Dimension spells he had found in the Book of Cagliostro.
  • Lynn warned Strange to consider the consequences of speaking, but Strange insisted on asking, and he accused The Ancient One of using Dark Dimension energy to sustain her life.
  • The Ancient One declined to discuss the accusation and urged everyone to prepare for the return of Dormammu's zealots.
  • Lynn gave Strange his number and left through a portal with Wong, leaving Strange and Mordo in the Sanctum.
  • Mordo argued that Strange was a coward for questioning The Ancient One instead of focusing on their enemy, then walked away and left Strange alone.

Ch. 155The Ancient One passed on her mantle, Lynn's shock

Strange and Mordo confronted Kaecilius, who mortally wounded the Ancient One before Lynn secretly rescued her. After the Ancient One appeared to die and passed her mantle to Strange, she returned to Lynn, entrusted him with her magical notebook, and left Earth through a portal.

  • Strange trapped Kaecilius and his followers in the Mirror Dimension, but Kaecilius twisted its space and chased Strange and Mordo.
  • The Ancient One arrived and fought Kaecilius, who stabbed her and sent her falling through a portal into New York.
  • Lynn swapped the Ancient One for a fake corpse and secretly caught her, while Strange and Mordo believed she had died.
  • Strange followed the Ancient One's soul and learned that she had accepted her death and wanted him to succeed her.
  • The Ancient One returned to Lynn, gave him her notebook of magical insights, and revealed that she knew he was a transmigrator.
  • The Ancient One left Earth through a star-filled portal, telling Lynn she was leaving the world to them.

Ch. 156An irritable Lynn

After Lynn helped defeat Kaecilius and Strange stopped Dormammu’s invasion, Mordo left the sorcerers over their willingness to break natural laws. Strange then joined Wong in rebuilding the London Sanctum, where he completed his first defensive rune slab and found his hands had largely recovered.

  • Mordo agreed to help Strange defend Hong Kong, and Lynn arrived to take on Kaecilius while Strange used the Eye of Agamotto to reverse the destruction around the Sanctum.
  • Lynn dismantled Kaecilius’s magic and beat him and his two followers, while Strange trapped Dormammu in a time loop until he agreed to withdraw from Earth.
  • Dormammu reclaimed the dark magic sustaining Kaecilius and his followers, and their bodies crumbled to dust as the rift closed.
  • Mordo condemned Strange’s use of the Time Stone and left, while Lynn returned to New York to have dinner with Natasha.
  • Strange and Wong spent weeks repairing the London Sanctum, and Strange completed his first defensive rune slab after two weeks of work.
  • Strange noticed that his hands still trembled but had mostly recovered.

Ch. 157Everyday life: Peter and Tony's falling-out

After spending several quiet days with Natasha, Lynn went out with her and learned that Tony and Peter were in conflict over Peter’s attempt to prove he deserved to become an Avenger. Natasha said their dispute was still ongoing, with Tony doubting Peter’s readiness and Peter feeling mistrusted.

  • Natasha said Tony thought Peter would not listen, while Peter believed Tony did not trust him.

Ch. 158A heart-to-heart with Tony

Lynn persuaded Tony to explain to Peter why he had taken back the suit and kept him away from dangerous missions. Tony agreed to talk to Peter, and Lynn and Natasha spent the afternoon walking around New York.

  • Natasha told Lynn that Peter had grown dejected after Tony ignored his messages and barely acknowledged him at school.
  • Lynn found Tony in the lab and urged him to explain his concerns to Peter rather than leave him guessing.
  • Tony said Peter was not ready to face the consequences of his mistakes and admitted he feared Peter was repeating his own reckless habits.
  • Tony agreed to talk to Peter and tell him that his problem was inexperience, not a lack of potential.
  • Lynn told Natasha that Tony would speak with Peter, then joined her for a walk through New York.

Ch. 159A worried "old father"

Tony met Peter after school, apologized for failing to train him properly, and began teaching him how to use his suit. He warned Peter that being a hero required assessing danger and asking for help, then returned Peter’s suit and told him to continue practicing.

  • Tony picked Peter up outside school and apologized for leaving him to figure out the suit on his own.
  • Tony offered to train Peter from scratch, and Peter eagerly agreed to go to the private lab.
  • Tony spent several hours teaching Peter the suit’s modes, authorization locks, and emergency procedures.
  • Tony challenged Peter to think before rushing into danger and to call for backup instead of carrying every responsibility alone.
  • Tony told Peter to rest, keep training, and take his suit back; Peter thanked him and apologized for destroying the previous suit.

  • Odin gave Lynn the Tesseract, and Lynn brought it to Tony’s laboratory to store in the underground vault.
  • Lynn returned home and comforted Natasha as she described her childhood in Ohio with Yelena, Alexei, and Melina.
  • Natasha recalled escaping to Cuba, where Dreykov took her and Yelena away, and said she believed Dreykov and the Red Room were gone.
  • Lynn told Natasha that Dreykov and the Red Room still existed and offered to help find Yelena and end the Red Room for good.

Ch. 164Sisters reunited

Natasha reunited with Yelena in Bucharest after receiving her coded reply, and learned that Dreykov and the Red Room were still active. Yelena brought an antidote that could free the Black Widows from mind control, and the three left through Lynn’s portal to protect it and find a way to make more.

  • Lynn intervened when Taskmaster restrained Natasha, gave her an antidote, and she freed Antonia from Dreykov’s control.
  • Yelena and the freed Black Widows surrounded Dreykov while Lynn sent the base’s coordinates to Coulson and returned home, leaving Natasha to organize the survivors and confront Dreykov.

Ch. 166Writer's block...

  • Odin gave Lynn an ancient runestone and asked him to convince Hela to become a warrior rather than a tyrant before Odin died in front of Thor and Loki.
  • Hela arrived, shattered Mjolnir, and knocked Thor and Loki out of the Bifrost passage; Lynn later told Thor the truth about Hela, Ragnarok, and Odin’s final instructions.
  • Lynn and Thor found Valkyrie in a tavern, and she agreed to return with them after learning Hela had come back.
  • At the Bifrost, Lynn stabilized the wounded Heimdall and ordered Thor to face Hela, Valkyrie to stop Fenris, and Loki to fight the undead while raiding Odin’s Vault.
  • Hela overwhelmed Thor in Asgard, but when Lynn approached her, she froze with her raised hand trembling.

Ch. 168A temporary truce

Lynn negotiated a temporary truce with Hela, then brought Thor and the surviving Asgardians to a new settlement in Norway. As the refugees began rebuilding their lives, Thor started learning what it meant to lead them, while Hela remained in Asgard and gathered strength.

  • Hela attacked Lynn, but stopped after he demonstrated his power and offered her a deal that let her rule Asgard without forcing its people to stay.
  • Hela agreed to Lynn's terms with three conditions, then ordered her undead army to cease fighting as Frigga organized the civilians' evacuation.

Ch. 169Strengthening Everyone and Taking Natasha Across the Universe

After months of peace, Lynn used a fragment of the Eternal Flame to strengthen the team and then took Natasha on a journey across remarkable planets. The chapter ended with Lynn and Natasha returning to the present moment together while Thanos contemplated the newly forged Infinity Gauntlet.

  • Lynn gathered Tony, Banner, Steve, Natasha, Hawkeye, Sam, and Rhodey and used the Eternal Flame fragment to enhance their physical abilities, despite the painful six-hour process.
  • Wanda and Pietro continued developing their abilities, and Tony arranged for them to attend a private school so they could learn to live in the ordinary world.
  • Lynn told Tony he was leaving Earth with Natasha and gave him a communicator in case the team faced an unsolvable problem.
  • Lynn and Natasha traveled through the universe, visiting Velathis, Thalassos, Xaloth, Ignis, Aethera, and other planets.

  • Lynn teleported back to the SSC base, where Tony and the surviving members were reeling from the catastrophe.
  • Lynn confronted Tony without speaking and punched him, sending him crashing into an alloy wall.

Ch. 171Lynn went all out

  • Lynn confronted Tony at the SSC base, accepted that the team had meant well, and warned them they owed everyone an explanation.
  • Lynn went to the Sanctum Sanctorum and demanded the universe’s complete star map from Strange so he could find Thanos.
  • Strange gave Lynn the star map, and Lynn used it to travel to Thanos’s Garden.
  • Lynn attacked Thanos with overwhelming force, wrecking his farm and cabin and leaving him battered and kneeling.
  • Lynn accused Thanos of being a coward who had chosen destruction instead of seeking a real solution to the universe’s problems.
  • Lynn began repeatedly beating Thanos and lecturing him about the Snap and the consequences of his self-appointed plan.

Ch. 172Educating Thanos, Carol Danver returns to Earth

On the Garden Planet, Lynn gradually broke through Thanos’s certainty in his plan to erase half of all life, and Thanos finally began to accept that he had committed a grave wrong. Back on Earth, the Avengers struggled to rebuild and search for Lynn and Thanos until Carol Danvers arrived and asked for Nick Fury, only to learn that he had disappeared too.

  • Lynn challenged Thanos’s belief that killing half the universe was necessary, arguing that he had ignored peaceful ways to address scarcity and punished countless innocents.
  • After days of arguments and beatings, Thanos began questioning his convictions, admitted he might have been wrong, and showed humility about his crimes.
  • On Earth, SSC and the Avengers worked to restore order after the Snap while searching unsuccessfully for Lynn and Thanos.
  • At an SSC meeting, Steve Rogers described their lack of leads when the headquarters shook and the team rushed outside.
  • Carol Danvers descended onto the lawn after tracing an abnormal energy burst to Earth and asked where Nick Fury was.
  • Steve told Carol that Nick Fury had disappeared too.

Ch. 173Lynn and Carol's Confrontation

After the Snap, Lynn and the SSC team tracked an Infinity Stones energy signature to the Garden Planet, where they found Lynn protecting a farming Thanos. Lynn defeated Carol when she attacked, reassured the SSC team that the vanished would return, and then confronted Carol over her absence from Earth and broken promises, leaving her trapped and asking whether she still wanted to fight.

  • The SSC team detected an Infinity Stones energy signature and traveled with Carol to the Garden Planet, where they found Lynn and Thanos tending the land.
  • Carol attacked Lynn to reach Thanos, but Lynn overwhelmed her in a single clash and trapped her with spatial power.
  • Lynn explained that Thanos had destroyed the Infinity Stones and was being kept alive to make amends, then promised the SSC team that the vanished would return.
  • Steve, Tony, and the others left for Earth after Lynn told them to keep things stable and asked Tony to contact him when the opportunity came.
  • Lynn berated Carol for neglecting Earth, missing Monica’s childhood, and breaking promises to the Skrulls, then challenged her to continue fighting elsewhere or leave.

Ch. 174A turning point: Ant-Man returns

After five years of farming on the Garden Planet, Lynn learned that Scott Lang had returned from the Quantum Realm with a possible way to undo Thanos’s snap. Lynn returned to Earth and joined Tony’s time-travel planning, leaving Thanos assigned to retrieve the Power and Soul Stones with him.

  • Lynn kept Carol imprisoned on the Garden Planet, where she eventually accepted working alongside Thanos as the two farmed for five years.
  • Scott Lang returned to SSC’s base and explained that the Quantum Realm’s unusual spacetime might allow them to travel into the past and recover the Infinity Stones.
  • Tony, Banner, Ivan, and JARVIS tested Scott’s proposal, and JARVIS concluded that quantum time travel was theoretically feasible.
  • Tony contacted Lynn, who returned to Earth with Thanos and Carol after hearing about Scott’s discovery and the successful simulations.
  • Tony assigned teams to retrieve the Stones, and Lynn said he and Thanos would retrieve the Power Stone and Soul Stone.

Ch. 175Thanos's Difficult Choice

Lynn privately asked Thanos to help obtain the Soul Stone by returning to the moment Gamora died, offering him three choices for how to handle his past self. Thanos postponed his decision, while Tony warned that the time-travel equipment needed precise coordinates, and Lynn reaffirmed his plan to bring everyone back.

  • After the meeting, the Avengers dispersed, and Carol watched Lynn and Thanos leave before returning to the guest quarters.
  • Lynn told Thanos they would travel to the moment he sacrificed Gamora and offered to let events unfold, have Thanos kill his past self, or take the Soul Stone himself.
  • Thanos reflected on his past treatment of Gamora and said he needed time to decide; Lynn warned that killing his past self would be difficult to bear.
  • Tony told Lynn the Quantum Tunnel could only target an approximate date without precise temporal and spatial coordinates from Thanos.
  • Tony apologized for the past losses, and Lynn hugged him, saying they needed to focus on bringing everyone back.

Ch. 176Action

Lynn and the Avengers launched their time-travel missions to retrieve the Infinity Stones, while Thanos and Lynn traveled to Vormir to obtain the Soul Stone. Thanos saved Gamora by replacing his past self’s sacrifice, and the group returned to the SSC base with four stones and Gamora.

  • Lynn gave Tony the spacetime coordinates, and Tony, Banner, and JARVIS completed the time-travel platform before the teams departed.
  • In 2012 New York, Steve stole the Mind Scepter, Banner obtained the Time Stone, and Tony and Scott failed to secure the Tesseract after Loki escaped with it.
  • Tony and Steve traveled to 1970 to pursue the Tesseract, while Scott and Banner returned with their stones.
  • In 2013 Asgard, Ivan extracted the Aether from Jane, and Thor spoke with Frigga before returning with Ivan.
  • On Vormir, Thanos caught Gamora after his past self pushed her from the cliff, knocked his past self into the abyss, and obtained the Soul Stone and Infinity Gauntlet.
  • Lynn, Thanos, and Gamora returned to the SSC base with four Infinity Stones, where Gamora held onto Thanos while he gently touched her hair.
