Origins and Recruitment

Su Ming’s original existence was an innate being born in Chaos. He abandoned his original body and merged his divine soul into a dead infant in the Immortal Realm, effectively reincarnating. His immense original power produced complications that prevented a complete awakening until his new body became strong enough to bear it 372 373.

His recorded childhood began in the Devil Domain, where his parents were rogue Immortal Dao cultivators killed by the Devil Race. The Heavenly Mystery Lineage’s chief located him through costly divination, after which the Pill Lineage’s chief personally retrieved him and accepted him as a disciple 201.

His low cultivation and seemingly mediocre aptitude initially drew skepticism. Determined not to damage Yuheng’s reputation, Su Ming promised to fight Jiang Hao in thirty years and prove himself worthy of his position 201 202.

Training and Early Competitions

Su Ming befriended Han Xuanji by sincerely offering him Creation Jade. Han Xuanji accepted after learning that Su Ming possessed another piece and offered cultivation guidance in return. Over the following decade, Su Ming became a frequent visitor and developed rapidly as a swordsman 206 208.

At the Sword Trial Assembly, he claimed an inconspicuous rusty sword. Han Xuanji warned that its murderous Sha Qi could corrupt his sword heart. During a subsequent spar with Jian Wuchen, Su Ming instead used the immortal sword supplied by Immortal Lord Yunmiao and largely held his own despite having slightly inferior sword attainment 210 211 212.

When Zhao Yuan mocked Han Xuanji, Su Ming accepted an alchemy challenge on Purple Firmament Peak’s behalf. He later won the Third-Transformation Alchemist division, increasing the peak’s resource allocation; Zhao Yuan finished seventh and acknowledged defeat 219 223.

Lower-Realm Campaigns and Rescues

During a century of fighting alongside Li Changsheng, Su Ming repeatedly survived dangerous encounters, obtained a Golden Immortal inheritance, and helped kill a True Immortal devil while still a Heavenly Immortal. He credited Han Xuanji’s movement technique with saving his life 234.

In the Seven Lineages Martial Competition, he defeated Jiang Hao by suppressing the Divine Light of the Ruins of Return and delivering a decisive sword strike. Jiang Hao acknowledged that Su Ming had held back at the end 238.

After reaching True Immortal, Su Ming answered Han Xuanji’s request to protect the Great Void Spirit Realm. He killed Xue Yan with one sword stroke and ordered the remaining Demon Race forces to withdraw. A concealed Mystic Immortal attack nearly killed him afterward, but Han Xuanji stopped it 248 249 250.

A later secret-realm expedition ended with Su Ming captured by Nether Dragon Devil Venerable, who wanted to devour his unusual body. Han Xuanji rescued him, healed him, and instructed him to conceal his rescuer’s identity. Su Ming maintained that account when questioned by Yuheng and the sect’s Immortal Venerables 270 271 272 273.

Lineage Leadership and His Hidden Identity

At Yuheng’s proposal, the Spirit Void Heavenly Palace established a new lineage with Su Ming as its head. He accepted partly to repay the sect’s kindness and shoulder responsibilities for Han Xuanji, while insisting that he remained a member of the Myriad Phenomena Garden 389.

After helping Li Taiqing kill Immortal Venerable Jinxi, Su Ming was captured while covering Li Taiqing’s retreat. The Nether Lord approached him with an offer of power and assistance in exchange for service. Su Ming refused, choosing to trust Li Taiqing and Han Xuanji rather than surrender his independence in a crisis 398 400.

Following his safe return, Han Xuanji explained his Chaos Devil God origins and warned that his inherited power could either support his Dao or overwhelm his identity. Su Ming left reassured rather than burdened by the revelation 403.

War Against the Devil Race

At Divine Mechanism City, Devil King Instant trapped Su Ming in a time-distorting domain and attacked his soul. Su Ming unleashed his Chaos Devil God power, shattered the domain, and killed Instant with one punch. The lingering will within that power nearly overwhelmed him until Xiao Hong called him back to his senses 432.

The revelation made him a priority target. The Devil Master suspected that he might be the variable feared by the Devil Ancestor and ordered his death, while Heavenly Court representatives urgently reported his identity as a potential future great power 433.

Underworld Service

Seeking his own understanding of life, death, and reincarnation, Su Ming traveled to the Nether Sea rather than relying solely on the Mystic Heaven Dao Palace’s cultivation environment. He subsequently reached an agreement with the Nether Lord and became an Underworld guest elder 471 474.

After helping stabilize Pure Yang Golden Immortal’s soul, he was appointed a nether god with rank equal to the Yama Kings of the Ten Halls. His authority included access to all Underworld texts, command of the nether army, and inspection of the Land of Reincarnation 475.

Su Ming later reached Hunyuan and detected worsening disturbances in reincarnation. On learning that Heavenly Abyss Ancestor and the Devil Ancestor were weakening Reincarnation Purgatory’s seal, he hurried to warn Han Xuanji 496 497.

When the seal broke, Su Ming persuaded the Nether Lord that remaining neutral would endanger the Underworld regardless of who won. He advocated allegiance to Han Xuanji, securing the Nether Lord’s agreement and bringing a major auxiliary force to his senior brother’s side 501.

Predicted Sacrifice

In the simulated future, Su Ming struggled with destructive impulses, eventually joined the Underworld, and became known as Emperor Shuoyuan. When reincarnation collapsed, he attained Hunyuan Taiji and sacrificed his individual existence to reconstruct it. Later generations knew only an impartial cycle of reincarnation, unaware that it had once been Su Ming 373 374 375.
