Background / History

Bai Heng was a Foxian traveler and celebrated Sea of Stars Skiff pilot who dreamed of journeying among the stars as a Nameless. Though later offered the position of Helmsman, she refused because official work did not suit her and she preferred the sky and open travel. 147 157

Seven hundred years before her awakening, Bai Heng came into contact with Shuhuo's flesh and blood. Unlike Yingxing, whose condition was temporarily stabilized by an Abundance aura, her contamination was severe enough that she voluntarily entered Six-Phased Ice in the Prison of Confinement to preserve her consciousness. 111 130

She remained imprisoned and fought Shuhuo's influence through a long, painful dream that replayed her own life and the lives of those killed by Shuhuo. 147 Bai Heng was eventually thawed in the Prison of Confinement, initially confused and believing she had reached the underworld. 146

Her awakening revealed that she had become the Thousand-Tailed Vixen, an Emanator of Abundance and a Scourge whose presence rivaled Shuhuo at its height. Her memories and beliefs had been distorted by Shuhuo, including faith in the Benevolence of the Medicine King, but she retained enough of herself to seek Shuhuo's destruction. 147 149
