Background / History

At fifteen, Bai Heng was Jingliu’s disciple and sought to prove himself by defeating her. His repeated confessions were rejected, often followed by duels, but he continued training rather than abandoning either his feelings or his ambition. By eighteen, he had entered the Cloud Knights and fought Abundance abominations on the Xianzhou Luofu. 15

At nineteen, frontline service forced him to execute Mara-struck comrades as well as abominations. The accumulated killings earned him the name “Grim Reaper” and left him mentally strained enough to seek support from his online friend, Wuxia Feiguang. 16

In his sea of consciousness, Bai Heng encountered Di Kui, Suiren’s destructive split. He rejected the illusions and accusations presented during the “Interrogation of the Heart,” then entered a possession deal with the ancient dragon. He subsequently accepted destruction at the cost of grievously wounding himself, becoming an Emanator of Destruction and defeating Shuhuo during the Shuhuo Rebellion. 20 21 22

Luofu history records the short-lived Bai Heng as Jingliu’s adopted disciple who died beneath her sword during that rebellion. Bai Heng later recalled that his prior fusion with Di Kui had ended in backlash and death. 25 57

Seven hundred years later, he reunited with Jing Yuan and stated that, although he worked for the Interastral Astronomical Society, he belonged neither to the IPC nor the Xianzhou and was loyal only to himself. 30

Bai Heng has ink-black hair and distinctive ink-gold pupils. His destructive transformation manifests lacquer-gold dragon horns, scarlet-gold light in his eyes, black flames, and a blood-soaked, draconic presence. 21 149

Personality

Bai Heng is composed under extreme pressure and notably unwilling to indulge accusations or self-recrimination. During Di Kui’s trial, he destroyed his manifested inner demon rather than entertain its questioning, dismissing it as excessively talkative. 20

He is pragmatic and self-preserving in combat: when three additional Molten Knights emerged, he immediately fled rather than pretend he could win an unwinnable fight. He can also be ruthless when he holds the advantage, reducing Di Kui from potential possessor to a controlled “pet” within the Dark Domain. 69 113

Despite this, he repeatedly shows consideration for others. He avoids targeting innocent workers during a revenge operation, heals injured miners with Bountiful Rain, and repairs Iron Cavalry armor without charge.
