Background / History
Early Life and the Heavenly Court
Emperor Venerable had already attained the Dao by the final years of the Mythological Era. His earlier title and origins were obscured, but Xiao Ping'an recognized him through his creation of Nine Secrets: Jie. Reports claimed that he challenged Netherworld Venerable, suffered a crushing defeat, and vanished; Emperor Venerable later described their encounters as discussions and exchanges of pointers rather than a straightforward challenge 3 30.
More than a hundred thousand years later, he reappeared after reportedly cutting away his former cultivation and karma. He proved his Dao anew, took the name Emperor Venerable, and established the Heavenly Court in imitation of Desolate Heavenly Emperor. By this period, he had defeated Netherworld Venerable in later exchanges and tested himself against nearly every Dark Supreme 29.
He also attacked Mount Kunlun, scattering its powerful inhabitants, and worked with Netherworld Venerable to forge the Ninety-Nine Dragon Mountains. His foremost divine general, Chuan Ying, led the Heavenly Court's forces against opponents below the Supreme level 47 77 97.
Alliance with Xiao Ping'an
Emperor Venerable visited Heavenly Pillar Mountain to recruit Xiao Ping'an for an attempt to bring the entire Heavenly Court to immortality. Their initial contest exposed Xiao Ping'an's superior strength. Rather than demand submission, Emperor Venerable proposed that they lead the Heavenly Court together and even offered Xiao Ping'an its leadership, which he declined 30.
Xiao Ping'an accepted the alliance after receiving Heaven's Mandate Orange Gold. Emperor Venerable then sought his help persuading Dark Supremes to join the expedition and brought him to confront an injured True Immortal in the Big Dipper's Arctic Sea Eye 30 31.
Their cooperation also included exchanging secret techniques. Together with Longevity Heavenly Venerable, they combined incomplete versions of the Tribulation-Transcending Heavenly Art with knowledge of Saint Spirit transformations to deduce a method for repairing Immortal Platform cracks and living another lifetime 39.
Possession and the Failed Ascension
While exploring the Road to Immortality on Flying Immortal Star, Emperor Venerable encountered a strange cocoon and was ambushed by the Weird creature within it. The creature penetrated his Immortal Platform despite his resistance and the protection of the Immortal Ascension Cauldron 46 78.
His corrupted form attacked Annihilation Heavenly Venerable, tearing apart and eating his limbs. Longevity Heavenly Venerable and Carefree Heavenly Venerate escaped, while Annihilation Heavenly Venerable remained captive. The corrupted Emperor Venerable later killed Taowu, Taotie, Hundun, Qiongqi, and the Kui Ox, then captured Huashe 46 48 58.
He subsequently refined fifty Nine-Turn Immortal Pills, restoring numerous Dark Supremes to their peak. At least thirty-six emerged immediately after the pills were completed; eighty-six pill-restored Dark Supremes later assembled for the renewed attack on the Road to Immortality 55 67.
The expedition opened a genuine route toward the Immortal Domain, but Emperor Venerable was obstructed and subjected to baptism at the Heavenly Gate. Dark Emperor Venerable then activated linked formations intended to refine the Nine Heavens and Ten Lands into a World Cauldron. The assembled experts turned against him, and the Reincarnation Lake briefly awakened Emperor Venerable's original soul before the dark entity broke free again 69.
The coalition destroyed his main body, and the Heavenly Gate closed without anyone becoming immortal. The Heavenly Court's surviving holdings became targets for plundering Dark Supremes 70 71.
Escape from the Dark Entity
Emperor Venerable returned as a weak primordial spirit after consuming stored medicines and the essence of Huashe, Annihilation Heavenly Venerable, and a prehistoric monster. Chuan Ying examined him closely and confirmed that no trace of the Weird creature remained 77 78.
He explained that he had resisted the creature from within and forced it to abandon a plan to sacrifice the heavenly soldiers and generals. Nevertheless, he acknowledged his own earlier wrongdoing: forging the Immortal Ascension Cauldron had cost countless beings their life-source lands, and the artifact had failed to merge with him to grant immortality as intended 78.
Having erased his former body and Great Dao to escape possession, he chose to cultivate the Natural Dao. He then attempted another nirvana by merging with the cauldron's weapon spirit. The process endangered his identity, leaving his true spirit close to becoming a weapon spirit permanently 78 79 80 96.
Chuan Ying eventually sought Xiao Ping'an's assistance. Xiao Ping'an used Emperor Venerable's own cultivation methods alongside Netherworld Venerable's art to awaken him and restore flesh and blood. Emperor Venerable reclaimed his secular name, Yu Feng, and emerged through nirvana as an infant, whom Chuan Ying protected and raised 96 97 105.
Heavenly Emperor Yu Feng
After tens of thousands of years studying the Natural Dao, Yu Feng attained the Dao again. His tribulation and reopening of a Road to Immortality alarmed Dark Supremes who feared another world sacrifice. Those who attempted to seize his body or essence blood were killed 103 105.
Dark Emperor Venerable attacked him soon afterward. Yu Feng recalled his former Dao Fruit, matched the enemy's sixth-lifetime strength, and resisted its Weird Substance. Through the Natural Dao, he created a domain capable of binding the enemy's crimson immortal sword and ultimately killed both Dark Emperor Venerable and the dark entity 104 105.
The victory publicly cleared him of the dark entity's crimes. Holy lands, clans, and powerful races acknowledged his rebirth as Heavenly Emperor Yu Feng, while visitors brought their prodigies to meet the reigning emperor 105.
The Strange World
Yu Feng later entered the Strange World and established another Heavenly Court. His ambitions extended to defeating its resident Red Dust Immortals and taking command of the world 136.
When Xiao Ping'an arrived, he discovered that a local Red Dust Immortal had merged with Yu Feng's primordial spirit. Although Yu Feng possessed Red Dust Immortal power, he was confused and locked in a prolonged struggle for control. Xiao Ping'an burned away the invading soul and healed his primordial spirit, after which Yu Feng enclosed himself in a cocoon of divine chains to reconstruct his Dao 203.
Appearance
- Original appearance: Tall and heroic, with an extraordinary bearing, swirling Chaos Qi, and exceptionally abundant vitality 30.
- Corrupted appearance: Withered and gaunt, covered in dense black hair and resembling a black-haired zombie; his teeth became bloodstreaked and his presence sinister 46 48.
- First resurrection: An illusory figure retaining his familiar appearance and soul fluctuations, but without a true physical body 77 78.
- Weapon-spirit nirvana: Emerged as a baby who treated the fist-sized Immortal Ascension Cauldron as a toy 97.
Personality
Emperor Venerable is proud, ambitious, and intensely devoted to cultivation. He never married or had children, directing his efforts toward immortality instead. His confidence survived defeat: after losing exchanges with Netherworld Venerable, he continued improving until he surpassed him 39 78 96.
He could also be candid and pragmatic. On discovering that Xiao Ping'an was stronger, he acknowledged the difference and offered shared leadership rather than insisting on superiority. After his downfall, he accepted Chuan Ying's intrusive examination and eventually gambled on Xiao Ping'an's willingness to help him 30 78 96.
His rebirth brought remorse without extinguishing his ambition. He admitted the suffering caused by forging his cauldron, abandoned his former cultivation path and title, and rebuilt himself through the Natural Dao. He nevertheless later sought dominion over the Strange World 78 105 136.
