Background / History
Divine Law Enforcement and Earlier Succession
Asura oversees the Divine Realm’s laws and has carried out countless judgments. Before selecting Tang San as his intended successor in the screen-shown future, he had another candidate, Tang Chen, whose Asura God Nine Trials were sabotaged by the Rakshasa God, Ye Si 15 69.
He had considered placing his godhood with someone close to his chosen successor rather than transferring it directly. This “sheath” arrangement would allow the successor to use Asura power without remaining continuously exposed to its emotion-eroding effects 25.
Interference and Divine Punishment
In the future, Asura and Poseidon exploit loopholes in divine law to assist Tang San. Their interventions include recovering his corpse and arranging for the God of Food and the Nine-Colored Goddess to answer Oscar and Ning Rongrong’s Resurrection Divine Light. Without this assistance, Tang San’s body could not have been restored 15 47.
Asura also orders the original Angel God and Rakshasa God to leave the universe after passing on their godhoods. He presents this as enforcement of divine rules; Yu Xiaogang recognizes that their departure would leave him free to support Tang San without their opposition. Neither goddess actually leaves before divine punishment catches them 15 51.
When the Divine Punishment of Equality for All Beings descends, Poseidon attempts to escape through the cosmic barrier. Asura catches him with a Divine Chain of Order, declaring that he accepts his own aggravated guilt as a law enforcer but will not allow Poseidon to evade punishment. Both gods, together with the God of Food and the Nine-Colored Goddess, are reduced to level zero and sent to Douluo Continent 15.
Judgment in the Present Timeline
The present-day Asura initially orders the gods to watch the sky screen rather than challenge it. He supports punishing whoever causes the future catastrophe once their identity is established, even though the events have not yet occurred 13 20.
Xiao Wu’s unexpected identification as the future Asura God directs suspicion toward him. He denies having performed the transfer in the present and swears to that denial as a God of Law Enforcement. Privately, however, he recognizes the arrangement as something he had already contemplated 24 25.
After further evidence implicates him and Poseidon, Asura accepts punishment without resistance. The God of Destruction seals his godhood and cultivation and banishes him to Douluo Continent alongside Poseidon, the God of Food, and the Nine-Colored Goddess 33 34 35.
Attempt to Restore Tang San
In the future, the now-level-one Asura approaches Tang San’s companions and reveals his role in the resurrection. When they blame him for the reset, he counters that the punishment also saved them from Bibi Dong and Qian Renxue, who otherwise held an overwhelming advantage 47.
He explains that Tang San remains unconscious because his divine soul was scattered. Xiao Wu now possesses the Asura Godhood, and Asura claims he can transfer it to Tang San once she reaches Soul Saint, allowing the new godhood to guide his soul back. He encourages her to cultivate and promises that he and Poseidon will help their successors recover their strength 48 49 50.
The God of Wisdom questions whether this assistance conceals a desire to reclaim his own godhood; the possibility remains speculation. Meanwhile, future Qian Yuhan and Ye Si begin planning revenge against him and Poseidon. Watching these developments, the present-day Asura decides to keep his godhood rather than pass it down 50 70.
Appearance
- Hair: Long and dark red 15.
- Eyes: Dark red 20 25.
- Divine attire: Dark-red divine armor 20.
- Clothing beneath the armor: Fitted black clothes, revealed when his armor peels away during his present-timeline punishment 35.
Personality
Asura usually maintains an expressionless face and a controlled, authoritative manner, even under public accusation. He accepts punishment decisively once the evidence against his future self becomes substantial; the God of Destruction later acknowledges that he showed accountability by neither resisting nor evading the sentence 33 34 35 48.
His conduct also exposes a sharp conflict between his office and his favoritism. He warns Angel and Rakshasa against attacking the six-year-old Wu Wei for events committed by his future self, yet his own future interventions repeatedly bend divine law to protect Tang San. He uses the rules to justify removing rival successors’ divine patrons while arranging extraordinary support for his own intended heir 22 29 47 51.
He is pragmatic when dealing with Tang San’s companions. Rather than deny the consequences of his actions, he stresses that their survival depended on divine intervention and the subsequent reset. His concern that Xiao Wu is neglecting cultivation also reflects his unwillingness to see the transferred godhood go unused 47.
Abilities & Skills
Divine Chain of Order
A dark-red chain summoned through a tear in space, capable of restraining a fleeing deity 15.

- Halts Poseidon despite his burning divine power to escape.
- Pulls him forcibly back after the God of Food and Nine-Colored Goddess fail to stop him 15.
Godhood Inheritance and the “Sheath” Arrangement
Asura devises an indirect inheritance intended to let Tang San wield both Sea God and Asura power 25 49.
- Stores the Asura Godhood on the Asura God Sword after Xiao Wu passes its trial.
- Uses Xiao Wu as a vessel because directly adding another godhood would overburden Tang San’s divine soul.
- Plans for Tang San to access the stored power through a Martial Soul Fusion Skill.
- Loses control of the arrangement when divine punishment erases the sword, leaving Xiao Wu as the true inheritor 49.
Divine Soul Restoration Knowledge
Asura identifies why restoring Tang San’s body has not awakened him and proposes a godhood-based solution 49.
- Explains that Resurrection Divine Light repaired the body but did not return the scattered divine soul.
- Claims a new godhood can guide that soul back into place.
- Requires Xiao Wu to reach Soul Saint before he can separate and transfer the Asura Godhood.
- Cannot immediately resolve the problem with his own depleted cultivation 48 49.
Recultivation Expertise
Asura retains the foundations of his former divine cultivation after the future reset 50.
- Reaches level one without any Soul Rings 47.
- Claims that he and Poseidon can recultivate fast enough to support their inheritors against Spirit Hall 50.
- Without a godhood, returning to God Level would still require an inheritance or a self-created godhood, according to the God of Wisdom 50.
