Background / History

Transmigration and Original Cultivation

Wu Wei is a transmigrator familiar with the original course of events, including Tang San’s revival and Spirit Hall’s eventual defeat. He enters the story six years later than Tang San: by his Martial Soul awakening, Tang San has already joined Shrek Academy, and by the time Wu Wei becomes a Soul Master, the Immortal Herbs have already been collected 1 16.

His chief advantage is heaven-defying comprehension, awakened alongside his Martial Soul. Despite starting with level 5 Innate Soul Power, he develops increasingly effective cultivation methods and Soul Skills, eventually reaching level 84 at nineteen. His Wind Spirit Snake evolves step by step into an Azure Dragon 2 3 16. The Blue Silver Emperor Soul Bone is the one opportunity he identifies as having taken from the protagonist’s group 28.

Divine Punishment and the Fallen Goddesses

During the confrontation at Jialing Pass, divine punishment reduces Wu Wei and the rest of the world to level 0. He welcomes the loss because it also strips away the overwhelming advantages held by Tang San, Bibi Dong, Qian Renxue, and the gods. Finding that his Azure Dragon Martial Soul remains intact, he immediately turns his attention to rebuilding his strength 4 5 16.

Qian Yuhan, the Angel God, and Ye Si, the Rakshasa God, fall nearby after losing their powers. Wu Wei records their ensuing fight, defeats them when they attack him, and exploits their fear of being exposed to a populace hostile toward the gods. He demands that they serve him as maids as supposed “atonement” for divine punishment; their coerced service later includes a sexual relationship 18 19 21 28 29.

Exposure Across Time

Unknown to the future Wu Wei, a sky screen broadcasts his actions thirteen years into the past. His six-year-old self realizes that the revelation of his future strength and unusual Soul Rings will attract recruitment attempts, capture, or assassination. He leaves his academy, changes his name, and moves between hiding places while continuing to watch the broadcast 2 3 23 37.

The broadcast also links the comprehension of his two selves. Young Wu Wei learns his future cultivation method and several advanced techniques without having to recreate them independently. Meanwhile, Bibi Dong dismisses the real boy as a candidate because his ordinary background, Wind Spirit Snake, and level 5 Innate Soul Power seem incompatible with the future genius 26 30 57 65.

Recultivation and Soul Ring Research

After recovering his Life Domain, future Wu Wei rapidly rebuilds his cultivation. At level 10, he begins hunting Soul Beasts and demonstrates the full process of converting, upgrading, and rewriting a Blood Essence Soul Ring. He also develops an Enslavement Contract, successfully testing it on a Soft Bone Rabbit, and teaches Ye Si his Automatic Cultivation Method 31 54 57 59 63 64.

These demonstrations provoke consequences in the past: Soul Masters attempt to imitate his methods, Yu Xiaogang condemns their effect on Soul Beast populations, and powerful Soul Beasts regard him as a threat. Wu Wei remains unaware of this upheaval. After leaving the forest with his companions, he encounters five Evil Soul Masters; Qian Yuhan defeats them, and he begins questioning them about their ranks 61 62 66 68.

Appearance

  • As a child: A round-faced six-year-old with large eyes and an otherwise ordinary appearance 23.
  • At nineteen: Black-haired and tall, with sharper features and harder facial lines than his younger self 23.

Personality

Wu Wei is intensely competitive and resents being permanently behind those who obtained opportunities before him. He views universal divine punishment as a welcome chance to restart the competition rather than a catastrophe, laughing even as his own cultivation disappears 1 4 5.

His caution depends on his circumstances. As a vulnerable child, he quickly abandons his known identity and hides; after the reset, he openly mocks and subdues powerless gods. His confidence rests on recoverable self-created techniques, rapid cultivation, and a powerful survival ability rather than on respect for divine authority 3 21 23 30 37.

He is calculating and coercive toward Qian Yuhan and Ye Si, using their fear of exposure and desire for his techniques to maintain control. Nevertheless, he draws a specific boundary around cultivation: although his Blood Essence Soul Rings could consume human blood essence, he refuses to cultivate by devouring Soul Masters 21 45 57.

Abilities & Skills

Heaven-Defying Comprehension and Talent Linkage

His comprehension allows him to create and refine techniques that astonish both Soul Masters and gods 2 13.

  • Develops cultivation methods, movement skills, offensive techniques, and Soul Ring manipulation methods 2 35 57.
  • Connects with his younger self through the sky screen, allowing the child to understand techniques that ordinary spectators cannot discern 26 57.
  • Transfers understanding rather than cultivation levels: young Wu Wei must still practice the resurrection technique before mastering it 30 31.

Azure Dragon Martial Soul

The Azure Dragon is the evolved form of his original wind-attribute Wind Spirit Snake 16.

  • Manifests as an enormous illusory dragon during Martial Soul Possession 16.
  • Retains its evolved form after divine punishment, giving him a substantial advantage during recultivation 16 35.
  • Its superior quality explains why his future self advances faster than his younger self despite both using the same cultivation method 45.

Automatic Cultivation Method

A self-created method that continuously circulates Soul Power without conscious control 21 26.

  • Functions without seated meditation and restores Soul Power while he performs other activities 21 26.
  • Becomes faster when he actively cultivates 31.
  • Can be taught through direct guidance: he leads Ye Si through three circulation cycles until she memorizes the method 64.

Life Domain

An enhanced Innate Domain associated with the Blue Silver Emperor’s life-saving technique, “Wildfire Cannot Burn It Away, the Spring Breeze Brings It Back to Life.” Young Wu Wei adopts the shorter name Life Domain after mastering it 30 31.

  • Resurrection: Provides a survival technique that, according to Wu Wei, requires a god-level opponent to overcome 30.
  • Life detection: Senses living beings within its range, including concealed or distant Soul Beasts 31 58.
  • Concealment: Hides his own life force 31.
  • Soul Power restoration: Absorbs surrounding life force, especially from plants, to replenish expended Soul Power 31 58.
  • Limit: Absorbed life force restores energy but does not directly increase his cultivation level 58.

Blood Essence Soul Rings

A secret cultivation system that transforms ordinary Soul Rings into rings capable of absorbing additional resources 35 57.

  • Soul Ring absorption: Consumes extra Soul Rings to increase an existing ring’s cultivation age without requiring another open ring slot 59.
  • Blood essence absorption: Raises the ring’s structural capacity, allowing it to hold greater amounts of energy 59.
  • Conditional age growth: Blood essence can increase actual ring age when the ring’s structural capacity is sufficiently ahead 60 62.
  • Cultivation feedback: Improving ring quality also raises his Soul Power level 62 65.
  • Original configuration: He deliberately kept his first seven rings black, intending to reserve further upgrade feedback for the more difficult Titled Douluo stage. His red eighth ring came from hunting a hundred-thousand-year Soul Beast 66.

Soul Skill Removal and Inscription

Wu Wei can erase a Soul Ring’s original skill and inscribe a self-created replacement, which he calls an Innate Soul Skill 55 57.

  • Replaces the Azure Wind Wolf ring’s five-percent speed boost with Teleportation 56 57.
  • Inscribed techniques activate with a thought, making them more convenient than their self-created versions 55.
  • Young Wu Wei learns the conversion, removal, and inscription methods through Talent Linkage 57.

Teleportation

A self-created spatial movement skill usable even without a corresponding Soul Ring 56.

  • Moves behind prey for surprise attacks 56.
  • Later becomes his First Soul Skill through inscription; its demonstrated ring-assisted use carries him several meters 57.

Wind Spiral

An offensive technique developed from his Wind Spirit Snake’s wind attribute 56.

  • Compresses rapidly rotating Soul Power into a destructive energy ball 56.
  • Kills the reset Azure Wind Wolf and an owl Soul Beast during his hunt 56 58.
  • Young Wu Wei upgrades his own version from C-rank to S-rank through Talent Linkage 56.

Roaming Dragon Step

A self-created evasive movement technique 20.

  • Allows him to slip through Qian Yuhan and Ye Si’s coordinated attacks 20 21.
  • Supports his close-quarters counterattack, in which he redirects Ye Si’s momentum into Qian Yuhan before pinning them both 21.

Enslavement Contract

A self-created Soul Skill developed with ideas supplied by Ye Si 63.

  • Successfully binds a Soft Bone Rabbit’s soul and gives Wu Wei control over its life and death 63.
  • Is intended for eventual use on the two goddesses; the supplied events establish a successful animal test, not a completed contract with either goddess 63 64.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Storage Soul Tool — Stores his belongings, including his recording device 19.
  • Recording Soul Tool — A rare secondhand device purchased with all his savings at the Great Soul Arena in the Heaven Dou imperial capital. Records and stores footage while consuming little Soul Power 19.
  • Blue Silver Emperor Soul Bone — The source of his acquired life-saving opportunity before divine punishment erases Soul Bones. His understanding allows him to cultivate the technique again afterward 28 30.

Relationships

  • Qian Yuhan / Angel God — Defeated and coerced into becoming his maid. She resents him but seeks his cultivation and Soul Ring methods; later protects the group by defeating five Evil Soul Masters 21 26 59 68.
  • Ye Si / Rakshasa God — His other coerced maid. Uses outward affection to pursue his techniques, contributes to his contract research, and becomes the first of the pair explicitly shown learning his Automatic Cultivation Method 45 63 64.
  • Tang San — The principal benchmark for Wu Wei’s frustrated efforts to catch up. Wu Wei welcomes the reset of Tang San’s power; Tang San later notices that Wu Wei’s teaching method resembles inner-force transfer through acupoints 1 5 65.
  • Tang Hao — Recognizes Ah Yin’s technique in Wu Wei’s cultivation and rushes to inspect the place where he hid her 30.
  • Qian Daoliu — Orders the six-year-old Wu Wei killed on sight for humiliating the Angel God 22.
  • Bibi Dong — Seeks his techniques and orders searches for him, but rejects the real child as an implausible match for the future Azure Dragon cultivator 26 60 65.
  • Ning Fengzhi and Xue Ye — Order efforts to locate him before Spirit Hall can secure him 37.
  • Yu Xiaogang — Calls him a “sinner of the Soul Master World,” arguing that his techniques will accelerate Soul Beast decline 66.
  • Da Ming and Gu Yuena — Regard his ring-upgrading method as a grave threat to Soul Beasts and develop killing intent toward him 61.
