Zhu Family and Imperial Betrothal

Zhu Zhuqing is the second young lady of the Zhu Family, the Star Luo Empire’s second-largest family. Her family has intermarried with the imperial house for generations, and she is betrothed to the second prince, Dai Mubai. Her elder sister, Zhu Zhuyun, is engaged to the first prince, Dai Weisi, placing the sisters on opposing sides of the imperial succession struggle 104 148.

Zhu Zhuyun had doted on her during childhood, but their relationship changed into open suppression. After Dai Mubai fled the empire alone, Zhu Zhuqing endured restrictions, reduced cultivation resources, and constant fear of schemes. She nevertheless continued seeking information about him, hoping he was cultivating elsewhere so they could eventually face their rivals together 99 103 104.

Meeting Lu Yu and Escaping Star Luo

Lu Yu deliberately approached Zhu Zhuqing by staging the appearance of a gravely wounded intruder in her courtyard. Initially suspecting an assassin, she watched him for roughly half an hour before checking his condition. She then sheltered him, cleaned away the blood, and supplied healing ointment, unaware that his arrival was designed to gain her trust 99 100.

Zhu Zhuyun’s search of her room created a dangerous scandal: discovery of a strange man in a prince’s fiancée’s quarters could provide grounds for execution. Believing Lu Yu had escaped without her, Zhu Zhuqing broke down over another apparent abandonment. Finding him concealed beneath the bed restored her trust, and she agreed to flee with him 101 102 103.

Zhu Zhuqing surveyed the patrols, drew a map, and planned their escape through the western rear gate. Outside the estate, Dai Weisi’s soldiers pursued them. She refused Lu Yu’s offer to remain behind alone and fought beside him despite being badly outmatched; he ultimately killed all four pursuers and intercepted an attack that would have struck her 104 105 106 107.

Their flight through the outskirts of the Star Dou Great Forest lasted four months. Unknown to Zhu Zhuqing, Zhu Zhuyun had ordered a separate group to ensure her escape while pretending to pursue her. The escort withdrew once she and Lu Yu reached the Heaven Dou Empire 104 108 111.

Suotuo City and Choosing Lu Yu

Zhu Zhuqing traveled to Suotuo City to find Dai Mubai, accepting accommodation in Lu Yu’s courtyard. Lu Yu repeatedly brought her near the Rose Hotel until she saw Dai Mubai arrive with twin women. The sight destroyed her remaining hope that he had left Star Luo to prepare for their shared future 111 112.

That evening, Zhu Zhuqing initiated a kiss with Lu Yu, and the two became romantic partners. She subsequently made clear that Dai Mubai no longer held her affection and accepted Lu Yu’s promise to protect her 112 113 122.

Shrek Academy and the Forest Expedition

Zhu Zhuqing entered Shrek Academy alongside Lu Yu and participated in Zhao Wuji’s assessment, attacking him with Hell Stab. Afterward, Lu Yu gradually disclosed his actual cultivation, unusual Martial Souls, Soul Ring fusion method, and plans to obtain an External Soul Bone 118 120 122 123 124.

Her breakthrough to level 30 prompted a group expedition to the Star Dou Great Forest. After Lu Yu obtained the Eight Spider Lances, they set out to find her third Soul Ring. During the search, an impostor separated her from him through an illusion. Zhu Zhuqing recognized the deception by testing the false Lu Yu’s answers and behavior; the real Lu Yu then reached her 126 128 129.

She later witnessed Lu Yu slaughter fleeing Soul Beasts while searching for the impostor. His brutality frightened her and sharply contrasted with the normally lazy man she knew. She nevertheless remained with him and returned from the forest alongside Yue Li, Tang San, and Xiao Wu 131 134.

Leaving Shrek and the Godhood Inheritance

When Dai Mubai offered Flender rewards for capturing Lu Yu and handing Zhu Zhuqing over, the confrontation helped precipitate their departure from Shrek. Zhu Zhuqing boarded Lu Yu’s Somersault Cloud without hesitation. During the subsequent encounter with Tang Hao, Yue Li shielded her and Ning Rongrong from his pressure 140 141 142.

The God of Life later contacted Zhu Zhuqing and brought her into Lu Yu’s consciousness to discuss the God of Destruction’s inheritance. She urged him not to surrender a godhood for her sake, saying she would be content if he preserved a place for her in his heart. Her intervention helped persuade him to accept the inheritance 147 148.

Heaven Dou City

Zhu Zhuqing enrolled in Heaven Dou Royal Academy as a twelve-year-old, level 30 agility-attack Soul Master. She later wondered whether Lu Yu’s interest in the academy involved Ye Lingling, whose healing Martial Soul appeared suitable for Life’s inheritance, but withheld the question to avoid influencing his judgment 152 159.

Lu Yu’s prospective godhood also made her anxious about remaining a mortal beside him. He told her that treasures belonging to Dugu Bo could help her become a god and reassured her that he would never abandon her. No godhood inheritance for Zhu Zhuqing is confirmed 159.

Personality

Zhu Zhuqing’s cold, guarded manner develops under prolonged family pressure. She initially treats an unexpected visitor as a possible assassin, keeps a weapon ready while checking his condition, and resists showing vulnerability to outsiders. Compassion nevertheless leads her to shelter Lu Yu despite the danger to herself 99 100 105.

Abandonment wounds her more deeply than the prospect of death. Dai Mubai’s departure and Zhu Zhuyun’s apparent rejection leave her desperate for someone willing to face danger with her. Once she trusts Lu Yu, she repeatedly refuses to leave him behind, even when confronted with overwhelmingly stronger enemies 103 105 123.

With Lu Yu, she becomes affectionate, shy, and playfully retaliatory, often pinching him when he teases her. Her devotion does not prevent her from questioning his secrets or recoiling from his cruelty 113 124 131.
