Arena Rivalry and Flower-Fruit Mountain

Lin Tian entered the Suotuo Soul Fighting Arena at the Narvis Soul Fighting Arena’s behest, using the alias Great Sage Who Surpasses Heaven. With 48 wins and seven losses, he became a sufficiently dangerous challenger that Manager Huang offered Lu Yu fifty thousand Gold Soul Coins to face him. His alias also provoked Lu Yu, whose own arena name was Great Sage Equal to Heaven 37 38 41.

Initially dismissive of an opponent with only one Ten-Year Soul Ring, Lin Tian soon discovered that Lu Yu’s staff techniques surpassed his expectations. His Thunderclap Break shattered Lu Yu’s iron staff, but Lu Yu defeated him with a barehanded, Self-Created Soul Skill 38 39 40.

Afterward, Lu Yu proposed an equal partnership rather than a subordinate relationship: Lin Tian would lend him the Thunder Pattern Staff, and Lu Yu would teach him staff techniques. Lin Tian accepted on the condition that Lu Yu teach him all of those techniques. He subsequently suggested giving their growing faction a name, and the two established Flower-Fruit Mountain 40 41.

Their first documented duo victory was against Niu Da and Niu Er, the Wild Bull Duo. Lin Tian lent his staff to Lu Yu and attempted to evade the opponents while unarmed, but Niu Da’s ground-stomp skill knocked him down before Lu Yu secured the victory. After a month together, their coordination had improved enough that no two-ring team could defeat them; they then defeated a level-39 defense-type opponent paired with a level-35 agility attack-type opponent 44 45.

Third Soul Ring and External Soul Bone

Following Lin Tian’s breakthrough to level 30, Lu Yu shared the body-strengthening use of Whale Rubber and helped him prepare for a higher-aged Third Soul Ring. Of four proposed lightning-attribute Soul Beasts, Lin Tian chose the Purple-Patterned Thunder Spirit Butterfly, favoring the long-term improvement of his Martial Soul Origin over immediate control, speed, or burst damage 46 47.

The captured butterfly proved to be approximately 3,800 years old, exceeding Lu Yu’s estimate that Lin Tian could safely withstand around 3,500 years. Lin Tian nevertheless chose to attempt absorption. He survived severe physical damage with help from a Recovery Sausage and his Thunder Pattern Staff, which drew the invading lightning away from his body. After recovering, Lin Tian learned to control the resulting Purple-Patterned Wings. He offered to give them to Lu Yu to improve his chances of survival, but Lu Yu declined. Travels and Later Activities

Lin Tian remained with Lu Yu’s circle in Suotuo City, befriended Lu Fei, and began learning the Rasengan alongside Lu Fei and Oscar. Concerned about Lu Yu’s cultivation, he questioned whether repeatedly choosing Ten-Year Soul Rings was slowing his progress 70 74 75 76.

He accompanied Lu Yu and Lu Fei north to search for a Mirror Shadow Beast. After two unsuccessful years, they abandoned the search and departed Snow Drifting City. Back in Suotuo City, Lin Tian helped reassure Oscar that they had genuinely searched for the beast and had not abandoned him 90 93 96.

When Oscar later disappeared from Shrek Academy, Lu Yu suspected that Lin Tian and Lu Fei had taken him away, though this was not confirmed. Lin Tian was subsequently located in Spirit City with Lu Fei and Oscar, where Qian Renxue ordered them watched and considered whether Lu Yu could help her recruit him 121 159.

Lin Tian initially takes pride in his staff skills and superior cultivation, underestimating Lu Yu because of his single white Soul Ring. Their duel forces him to reassess both his opponent and his own training. Rather than cling to his pride, he accepts instruction from the person who defeated him 38 39 40.

His loyalty deepens when Lu Yu shares cultivation resources and secrets with him. He privately resolves to follow Lu Yu unto death and later offers him his newly acquired External Soul Bone, believing flight would make Lu Yu safer 46 51.

He values long-term cultivation over short-term advantages, choosing to strengthen his Martial Soul Origin and focusing on training rather than romance. His willingness to risk an over-aged Soul Ring does not make him fearless: he strongly resists the unknown dangers of testing his chrysalis skill with heavenly lightning 47 49 55 98.
