Qian Daoliu Has Already Set Out to Attack the Clear Sky Sect, An Yi Awakens Tang Chen Overnight
Heaven Dou City, Moonlight Pavilion.
In the dead of night, the window of the top-floor bedchamber suddenly opened without a sound.
Tang Yuehua, who had only just gone to sleep, snapped her eyes open and sat up in bed, alert.
Cold moonlight streamed through the window, illuminating an unfamiliar figure standing before it.
It was a young man with silver hair, holding a baby still in swaddling clothes.
Tang Yuehua's heart tightened, and she demanded sharply, "Who are you?!"
An Yi remained calm. "Don't be nervous. I'm just here to tell you something. Some time ago, Qian Xunji led a group to hunt down Tang Hao. This evening, the two of them killed each other."
As he spoke, An Yi stepped forward and held the baby out to Tang Yuehua.
"This is Tang Hao's child. Before he died, I promised to help him take the child back to the Clear Sky Sect and hand him over to Tang Xiao. But I don't know the way to the Clear Sky Sect, so I decided to give the child to you instead. Take him back yourself."
Tang Yuehua stared blankly at the baby before her. Her eyes reddened instantly, and her voice trembled. "Second Brother... is dead?"
"He's dead. I watched him draw his last breath."
An Yi spoke evenly. "He smashed Qian Xunji into meat paste with the Clear Sky Hammer. If nothing unexpected happens, Spirit Hall's retaliation against the Clear Sky Sect will begin soon."
"I stopped by to give you a warning. You'd better notify the people of the Clear Sky Sect as soon as possible and tell them to run."
"As for me, I'm going to help you bring Tang Chen back now."
An Yi paused, then added, "By the way, do you have a special token from the Clear Sky Sect? If I find Tang Chen and he doesn't believe me, that could be troublesome."
Tang Yuehua forced down her grief and hurriedly took a token made of a special metal from a hidden compartment by her bed.
The token was heavy, with a lifelike Clear Sky Hammer engraved on its face.
"Grandfather forged this himself and gave it to me when I was little. Take it to him, and he'll definitely recognize it!"
An Yi took the token and put it into his Storage Soul Tool. "All right, I'll go find Tang Chen now. Hurry back to the Clear Sky Sect and warn them. Don't delay. Spirit Hall will receive news of Qian Xunji's death soon, and Qian Daoliu's retaliation could come at any moment."
As his words fell, the space before An Yi distorted. He stepped into it and vanished from the room in an instant, heading toward Slaughter City.
At dawn the next day, An Yi reached the outskirts of Slaughter City.
He wasn't in a hurry to enter, however.
It would take time for news of Qian Xunji's death to reach Spirit City, and Qian Daoliu would likewise need time to gather his men and set out.
If An Yi went in now, Tang Chen might not fully believe him on the strength of his words and a token alone.
It would be better to wait until Qian Daoliu actually led his men to attack the Clear Sky Sect before calling Tang Chen out. With the facts before his eyes, An Yi would be spared the trouble of explaining further.
As for keeping track of Qian Daoliu's movements, that was no difficulty for him.
When they had exchanged probing blows in Vast Sea City, he had taken the opportunity to leave a spatial mark on Qian Daoliu, allowing him to sense the other man's approximate location at any time.
Once Qian Daoliu left Spirit City, it would mean the old fellow had made his move.
An Yi found a secluded spot in the mountain forest near the entrance to Slaughter City and sat down. He also took out the small golden sphere containing the Blue Silver Emperor's Hundred Thousand Year Soul Ring and began absorbing it cross-legged.
Three days later.
An Yi slowly opened his eyes. A crimson Hundred Thousand Year Soul Ring flashed around him before vanishing.
The first Hundred Thousand Year Soul Ring had been successfully attached to the Purple Brilliant Heaven Destroying Dragon.
As for the Blue Silver Emperor Right Leg Bone, it was of little use to An Yi.
His own Martial Soul already possessed both the ability to fly and the ability to recover from injuries, so there was no need to waste a Soul Bone slot. Keeping it to modify a Soul Tool later would be more worthwhile.
Just as An Yi got up and stretched his limbs, his heart suddenly stirred.
The spatial mark he had left on Qian Daoliu had already moved beyond Spirit City and was heading north at great speed.
The show had begun.
An Yi brushed off his robes and walked into the town above Slaughter City.
After finding the entrance hidden inside the tavern, he didn't waste a single word. He casually snapped the necks of several guards, followed the dark passage downward, and walked straight into Slaughter City.
As soon as he stepped through the outer city gates, a squad of black-armored guard knights rode up and blocked his path.
The knight at their head leveled his spear and shouted coldly, "Stop! You've broken the rules of Slaughter City..."
Before he could finish, An Yi vanished from where he stood.
The next instant, An Yi appeared directly in front of the knight. The Purple Brilliant Heaven Destroying Dragon instantly possessed him, and his right claw, covered in purple-gold dragon scales and carrying a violent purple light of destruction, slammed down on the knight's head!
"Bang!"
With a dull thud, the knight blocking his way was smashed into meat paste, armor and all, before he could even scream.
An Yi shook the blood from his dragon claw and swept his gaze over the law enforcement team. "Now, does anyone else want to talk to me about rules?"
The faces of the previously aggressive law enforcement team members changed drastically. They instinctively retreated half a step, and no one dared make another sound.
Just then, a woman with a black veil over her face hurried forward from behind the crowd and lowered her head respectfully. "Welcome to Slaughter City, honored guest. This is your identity token. Your number is..."
"Take me to the King of Slaughter," An Yi interrupted her.
The black-veiled envoy froze and looked up in astonishment. "You... you want to see the great King of Slaughter?"
An Yi glanced at her. "Cut the nonsense. Lead the way."
Sensing the lingering destructive presence around An Yi, the black-veiled envoy didn't dare say anything more. She hurriedly put away the token and stepped aside. "Please follow me."
Led by the black-veiled envoy, An Yi passed through the outer city without obstruction and soon reached the tallest castle deep within the inner city.
This was the King of Slaughter's palace.
The heavy doors to the great hall swung open, and a thick stench of blood hit him in the face.
A tall, blood-colored figure sat on the throne at the far end of the hall. It was the King of Slaughter.
At this point, Tang Chen had been parasitized by the Blood-Red Nine-Headed Bat King for only a few years. He was far from the state of an oil lamp burned dry that he would reach twenty years later, and the life force emanating from him was still strong.
An Yi had no interest in wasting words on a beast. After stopping, he directly contacted the Sea God's Divine Sense in his mind.
Lord Sea God, help me out again. Wake this fellow up.
The next moment, the trident mark on An Yi's forehead suddenly lit up, and a brilliant beam of blue-gold Sea God's Light shot out, striking the King of Slaughter on the throne with precision.
The instant the Sea God's Light enveloped him, the King of Slaughter's face twisted violently, and a low roar rumbled from his throat.
After only a few breaths, the murky blood-red color in his eyes rapidly faded, replaced once more by deep black and clarity.
Tang Chen raised a hand and pressed it to his forehead. His gaze fixed on An Yi below, and his voice was hoarse yet authoritative. "This is... the Sea God's Light? Who are you?"
"You can think of me as the Sea God's successor, though I have no interest in becoming the Sea God myself."
With his hands behind his back, An Yi got straight to the point. "I came to find you today to tell you that your Clear Sky Sect is about to be wiped out."
Tang Chen's gaze abruptly turned cold, and a terrifying pressure instantly filled the entire hall:
"The Clear Sky Sect? What happened?!"
