Background / History
Transmigration and Shrek Academy
Tang San is a transmigrator rather than the original consciousness of Tang Hao and Ah Yin’s child. He privately does not regard Tang Hao as his biological father, while Tang Hao continues treating him as his son without knowing the truth. His family and the Clear Sky Sect have a generations-long feud with Spirit Hall 10 35.
At Shrek Academy, Tang San coordinates teammates through Blue Silver Grass, gives battlefield warnings with Purple Demon Eye, and relies on Ning Rongrong and Oscar’s support to sustain difficult engagements. Against Feng Xiaotian, the team channels enough power into him to manifest the Clear Sky Hammer’s Tool Soul Avatar 27 29 32.
Defeat at the Soul Master Finals
Lin Chen dismantles Shrek’s formation, breaks Blue Silver Cage, damages Tang San’s Eight Spider Lances, and captures Xiao Wu. Tang San’s Clear Sky Hammer attacks fail to recover her, even with Ning Rongrong’s speed, Soul Power, and defense boosts 29.
After Lin Chen shatters the Eight Spider Lances completely, Tang San uses their fragments for Bat Wing Reincarnation. Lin Chen destroys the poisoned fragments with Ten Thousand Swords Pay Homage, leaving Tang San incapacitated. Flender surrenders, and Ning Fengzhi treats the injured Shrek competitors 32 33.
Tang Hao intervenes and escapes with Tang San after detonating his hundred-thousand-year ring, but cannot retrieve Xiao Wu. Tang San initially blames him, then restrains himself after recognizing that his injured father remains his principal source of protection and training 34 35.
Training and Slaughter City
Tang Hao personally trains Tang San, helps him master Nine Nines Return to One, and brings him to the forest where his mother’s inherited power awaits. After receiving that inheritance, Tang San regains confidence and renews his determination to recover Xiao Wu 64 65.
In Slaughter City, he becomes known as King Asura. He reaches twenty-nine consecutive victories, kills opponents without mercy, and drinks their Yellow Springs Dew to increase his Soul Power. He justifies the killings by regarding the city’s inhabitants as criminals deserving death 77.
His reunion with Xiao Wu ends in rejection: she identifies Lin Chen as her master and tells Tang San to leave. Tang San subsequently joins five other Soul Masters in an ambush, publicly offering them the two women accompanying Lin Chen while privately intending to reclaim Xiao Wu and eventually hunt her for her Soul Ring 78 80.
The ambush fails. Lin Chen destroys Tang San’s regenerated Eight Spider Soul Bone and leaves him unconscious, but deliberately spares him as a continuing source of fortune and Villain Value. A year later, Tang San reaches one hundred arena victories and earns access to Hell Road 80 83.
Before leaving Hell Road, Tang San throws Swan’s Kiss into the lava, intending to destroy Slaughter City along with Lin Chen and everyone who witnessed his humiliation 86.
Tang Chen’s Support and the Tang Sect
After Slaughter City’s destruction, Tang San meets Tang Chen, the former King of Slaughter and his great-grandfather. He embellishes his account of Xiao Wu’s capture to secure Tang Chen’s support. Tang Chen offers to accelerate his cultivation by hunting fallen Soul Masters and supplying Yellow Springs Dew 90.
The resulting growth brings Tang San to level 72 but triggers Qi deviation. The Blue Silver Domain restores his clarity, and Tang Hao subsequently places him at Tang Yuehua’s Moonlight Pavilion Hall to cultivate in seclusion. Tang San’s first encounters there expose his instability: he releases his killing domain against the entrance attendants and again upon seeing Lin Chen 91 93.
After more than half a year, he gains preliminary control over his killing intent. With Tang Hao’s support, he establishes the Tang Sect and recruits the four great single-attribute clans 120.
| Clan | Patriarch | Specialty |
|---|---|---|
| Breaking Clan | Yang Wudi | Offense |
| Strength Clan | Tai Tan | Assault and construction |
| Speed Clan | Bai He | Speed |
| Defense Clan | Niu Gao | Defense |
All four patriarchs provide Soul Douluo-level support to the new sect 120.
Imprisonment and Loss of the Blue Silver Bloodline
During the Heaven Dou conflict, Tang San holds off a level-86 grand commander and several Soul Saint commanders using both Martial Souls. Nevertheless, he is captured. Qian Renxue, acting as Xue Qinghe, offers him protection and help becoming a Titled Douluo in exchange for submission; he refuses and is imprisoned 126.
In captivity, he repeatedly invokes Tang Hao and Tang Chen as protection. His defiance eventually gives way to panic, and he begs to see Lin Chen or Xue Qinghe when guards take him away 131 133.
By his return to the Clear Sky Sect, Lin Chen has crippled his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline. Tang San loses the Blue Silver Domain, weakening both his combat ability and his capacity to safely consume Yellow Springs Dew 138.
He proposes taking Ah Yin’s bloodline to restore himself. Tang Hao angrily refuses, and Tang Chen initially rejects the plan because it could damage Ah Yin’s soul and permanently prevent her from returning to human form. Under increasing pressure from Spirit Hall, Tang Chen later agrees to persuade Tang Hao 138 143.
The attempted transplant fails when they discover that Ah Yin’s emperor bloodline and soul are no longer in her plant body. Lin Chen subsequently defeats Tang Hao and Tang Xiao and leaves with Ah Yin, sparing Tang San while warning that his survival depends on remaining useful 147 150.
Titled Douluo and the Journey to Sea God Island
Following Tang Chen’s instructions, Tang San approaches Qian Renxue to negotiate for the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud, bringing six Soul Bones identified as Tang Hao’s. The arrangement serves Tang Chen’s plan to address the side effects of Yellow Springs Dew and Qian Renxue’s interest in cultivating a potential helper 160 161.
After Tang San’s Titled Douluo breakthrough, the Clear Sky Sect attempts to obtain the Titan Giant Ape and Sky Azure Bull Python as Soul Rings. Lin Chen interrupts the hunt, severely injures Tang San, and forces him to abandon both beasts while fleeing 165 182 183 184.
Tang San and the surviving Clear Sky Sect members travel to Vast Sea City, where their lack of money obstructs efforts to obtain a ship. At sea, Tang San finally acquires a hundred-thousand-year octopus ring and advances to level 92 190 191 194.
Sea God Trials
Tang San’s assessment initially grants only Black Level Six Trials, reflecting the damage to his talent after losing the Blue Silver bloodline. Tang Chen nevertheless secures an exceptional opportunity for him to attempt the Sea God inheritance 196 197.
| Trial or challenge | Documented result |
|---|---|
| First Trial: stair ascent | Completes the ascent by drawing on his hatred of Lin Chen and Xiao Wu 196. |
| Second Trial: circular blockade | Crosses the Ring Sea using Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track and Purple Demon Eye without harming its Sea Soul Beasts 196. |
| Third Trial: Tidal Body Tempering | Endures twelve hours and reaches peak level 92 196. |
| Fourth Trial: Evil Orca King | Kills the eighty-thousand-year target 197. |
| Fifth Trial: Seven Sacred Pillar Guardians | Defeats six guardians and gains the upper hand against Sea Dragon Douluo, but attempts a killing blow that Bo Saixi stops 197. |
| Seventh Trial: Bo Saixi | Is repeatedly restrained and defeated. Tang Chen later reacts with delight upon hearing that Bo Saixi agreed to let him pass 200 201. |
Tang San leaves the Sea God Hall declaring that he would rather risk death hunting the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King than continue living in Lin Chen’s shadow 201.
Asura Inheritance and Destruction of the Remaining Elders
Tang Chen sacrifices his life and Asura inheritance to open Tang San’s divine trials. After his death, the surviving third and fourth elders accuse Tang San of bringing ruin upon their ancestor and sect 205 206.
Tang San murders both elders, prevents their Soul Skills with Slaughter Domain, and consumes them as Yellow Springs Dew. He then drains Tang Chen’s remains as well. The stolen power carries him into the Super Douluo realm but also brings overwhelming baleful Qi and spiritual contamination 206 207.
Lin Chen finds him on North Sea Island while he is terrorizing the captive Zi Zhenzhu. Despite his increased cultivation, Tang San cannot withstand one sword strike. Lin Chen again leaves him alive, explaining that Tang San’s continued efforts remain useful to his own path toward godhood 207.
During the Sixth Asura Trial, Tang San follows Tang Chen’s contingency plan against the Blood-Winged Bat King and the Rakshasa God’s evil thought. He lets the two fight over his body, then destroys the weakened survivor with assistance from Tang Chen’s remaining soul image 215.
By the Ninth Trial, Tang San has reached peak level 98 and acquired partial Asura Divine Power. He draws the Asura Demon Sword, but decides that one divine position will not be enough for his revenge 225.
Assault on Sea God Island and Final Shown Battle
Returning to Sea God Island, Tang San kills Sea Dragon and Sea Horse Douluo with the Asura Demon Sword and overpowers Bo Saixi. The Sea God’s avatar intervenes and initially dominates him, but its limited time and declining Divine Power allow Tang San to prolong the battle 228 229 230.
Both are severely damaged in their final exchange. Tang San survives falling into the sea, returns after the avatar’s departure, kills Sea Illusion Douluo, and restrains Bo Saixi and Sea Girl Douluo. He subsequently retreats rather than confront Lin Chen and Bibi Dong, though Lin Chen strikes him during his escape 230 231.
Tang San later appears above Spirit Hall as a god wielding Sea God powers. Lin Chen attains godhood during their confrontation and easily breaks his trident techniques. Tang San then fights with Asura Divine Power and the Asura Demon Sword, briefly matching him before Lin Chen reveals greater strength and repeatedly batters him across the battlefield 235 237.
Appearance
- After awakening his maternal inheritance: His appearance and physique change greatly, though the passage gives no precise new features 65.
- Tang Sect period: Broad, sturdy build with bright, piercing eyes 120.
- Later mortal period: Often described with a gloomy expression; wears a long blue shirt when visiting Qian Renxue 161.
- Killing intent and Yellow Springs Dew: His eyes repeatedly turn blood-red during emotional or spiritual instability 77 91 207.
- Asura god form: Silver hair, blood-red eyes, and dark-red Asura God Armor 237.
Personality
Tang San initially combines tactical composure with exceptional confidence in his destiny. He coordinates Shrek’s formation under pressure and remains calm against multiple Slaughter Arena opponents. Repeatedly favorable cultivation experiences, however, leave him poorly prepared for defeat; Tang Chen explicitly identifies his previously smooth progress as the source of his fragile disposition 29 77 151.
His losses to Lin Chen turn that confidence into resentment, possessiveness, and an obsession with revenge. His desire to rescue Xiao Wu deteriorates into plans to enslave her and take her Soul Ring. He also considers appropriating Ah Yin’s bloodline despite the consequences for her soul and future recovery 80 138.
His treatment of relatives becomes increasingly instrumental. He restrains his anger toward Tang Hao because he needs his protection, privately resents Tang Chen’s restrictions, and ultimately describes their relationship as mutual exploitation. After Tang Xiao goes missing, his immediate concern is his own ninth Soul Ring rather than rescuing his uncle 35 165 186 228.
That deterioration is not solely a side effect of contaminated cultivation. Even after Asura Divine Power cleanses his soul, the narrative states that his dark personality remains. By his return to Sea God Island, he is explicitly characterized as having become a full-fledged villain 225 228.
Abilities & Skills

- Clear Sky Hammer: His principal heavy weapon, used for direct clashes, hammer techniques, and Clear Sky True Body 27 80 183.
- Limitations: Loss of the Blue Silver Emperor bloodline severely weakens his plant Martial Soul. His Twin Martial Soul problem remains unresolved during the later Soul Beast hunt, when the hammer has only six rings 138 182.
Clear Sky Hammer Techniques

- Nine Nines Return to One: The technique’s mastered finishing sequence; Tang San later uses it against Lin Chen 64 80.
- Great Sumeru Hammer: Produces an enormous hammer attack capable of overcoming Sea Dragon Douluo’s Eighth Soul Skill 197 200.

- Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track: A movement technique used alongside Purple Demon Eye to complete the Ring Sea challenge 196.
- Bat Wing Reincarnation: Ranked tenth among Tang Sect hidden-weapon techniques. Tang San launches hundreds of poisoned Eight Spider Lance fragments at Spirit Hall’s team; Lin Chen destroys them before they land 32.

| Divine Slaughter’s Domain | Releases an intense killing aura; initially spreads involuntarily when he becomes enraged 93. |
| Slaughter Domain | Suppresses opponents’ Soul Skills and impedes Soul Power circulation. Used against the Clear Sky elders and Sea God Island defenders 206 230. |

- Shattered during the Soul Master finals; its fragments become ammunition for Bat Wing Reincarnation 32.
- Regenerates tougher and sharper, but Lin Chen destroys the upgraded version during the later ambush 80.
Yellow Springs Dew Cultivation
- Raises Soul Power through consumption; Tang San eventually produces it directly from the Clear Sky elders and Tang Chen’s remains 206 207.
- Carries killing intent, baleful Qi, and spiritual impurities that can cause loss of reason or transformation into a Fallen Soul Master 91 207.
- Without the Blue Silver Domain, repeated use initially requires month-long recovery periods 142 143.
- Later accounts state that mastering Slaughter Domain gives him control over its side effects; Asura Divine Power subsequently cleanses the remaining impurities in his soul 215 225.
Divine Power and Techniques
- Partial Asura Divine Power: Combined with the Asura Demon Sword, places him above Peerless Douluo before he attains godhood 225 229.
- Asura techniques: Asura Slaughter, Asura Control, Asura Judgment, and Shield of Asura 229 230 237.
- Sea God techniques: Sea God’s Wrath, Unfixed Storm, Gone Forever, and Man and Trident as One, Stars Shift 235.
