As the saying goes, the more you think about it, the more troubles you have.
Humans shouldn't give themselves too much time to think, otherwise they'll get more and more caught up in it and eventually fall into a vicious cycle of confusion.
While thinking is a manifestation of wisdom, it can also be its curse.
Norton was like that; he almost got depressed hiding in Father Abraham's cellar.
I keep trying to figure it out even when I can't, and my brain is practically steaming from all the effort.
Fortunately, Father Abraham's voice finally freed him from his thoughts.
"Ha..." A loud panting sound echoed in the cellar.
After enduring for a long time, Father Abraham finally could not suppress his bloodlust. The bloodshot in the whites of his eyes became more and more severe. He opened his mouth wide, bared his two sharp front teeth, and kept twitching his nose.
"I'm so thirsty... Caesar, why do you punish me!"
"I am... Father Abraham!"
Father Abraham's eyes turned completely crimson, and he trembled with intense longing, which forced him to abandon all other thoughts and taste the blood he craved first.
Father Abraham left the cellar to take care of his physical needs.
His appearance made Norton feel a little emotional.
"As expected of an incompetent species, he couldn't even resist his own urge to eat."
For some reason, Norton felt a little proud when compared to Father Abraham.
But now is not the time to be proud of his bloodline. Norton stood up from behind the torture device and quickly walked to where Father Abraham had been standing.
He witnessed Father Abraham taking several books out of the Church.
Knowing he had a problem, why did Father Abraham still risk going into the church to retrieve the book?
Clearly, this book was meant to answer his questions, specifically about Vampire, which was precisely the kind of knowledge Norton lacked.
Norton flipped through the books on the table.
Sure enough, all of these books were about Vampire.
Unlike Church texts, Church use vague language to instill faith and create a sense of mystery, this book, which delves into detailed research, uses plain language and is extremely detailed, making it easy to understand at a glance.
The first book was * A Brief History of Vampires *.
Vampire are extremely rare these days, and their birth is extremely difficult.
However, in the book "A A Brief History of Vampires," Vampire were once a thriving race.
After the birth of the three sons of God —Shenyin, Kuba, Jonah —no new Vampire were born for a considerable period of time because Jonah forbade Kuba from contaminating corpses.
This situation continued until Jonah, the Primordial God of Death, was imprisoned in the sun, after which some of the corpses of the dead were suddenly able to transform into Vampire.
This is entirely consistent with "Resurrection" and Norton's current ability to feed on the blood of the dead.
It seems that because Jonah was sealed away, he lost his control over the dead. For a considerable period of time, Vampire were born in droves, and all races were reduced to being food for the dead. Only humans, because they had Shenyin favor and the protection of God, were able to survive.
To combat the perverse species of Vampire, the Holy Lord Church was born.
Relying on their unwavering faith in God, they cultivated the Holy Knight, a human weapon.
Thus began the Holy War era, and over a period of nearly a thousand years, the rampant Vampire were completely eradicated.
Millennia of warfare have solidified the Church's position as the Holy Church, and the frequency of Vampire births seems to have decreased over time, perhaps due to Kuba's slaying by Shenyin.
To this day, Vampire are rarely seen in the secular world.
And there is no possibility of Vampire being born from any of the corpses.
This aligns with Norton's feelings over the past eight years.
Having spent eight years traveling and seeing all sorts of monsters, he truly had never seen any other Vampire besides himself.
Norton felt his knowledge had broadened considerably, but it was of little use.
The books that are most relevant to his personal interests are these few.
Vampire Explained
This book, "Vampire Explained to Vampires," is based on theories developed by the Church after nearly a thousand years of research into the Vampire species. It is far more detailed than the one Norton once saw at the Church in Holy Lord City.
Most importantly, it introduces the concept of Divinity.
Divinity —Emperor Adam had doubts about this when he looked at the murals.
The half-wing depicted in the mural represents Bowser's divinity, suggesting that the Church used the concept of divinity in ancient times to complete the relationship between vampires and God.
Vampire are born of God, and because they possess Divinity, ordinary swords and blades cannot harm them. Only by being tainted by God's holiness can one inflict damage upon them through God's Divinity.
God's corpse was hung on a cross, so the cross embodied God's Divinity, thus possessing the power to truly harm Vampire!
Of course, this is the content of the book, which is meant to be self-consistent with Church texts. If His Majesty Adam were to see it, there would be many more interpretations.
Firstly, since the body of a god was nailed to a cross, and God's life and Existence Level the highest, the cross and the stake can suppress and harm all living beings.
However, this possibility is unlikely, because apart from Vampire, other creatures are not afraid of the cross.
Secondly, the cross was made from the body of Kuba.
This is the most likely reason.
Some people might not understand it, but introducing a concept will connect them.
That is the Existence Level.
The Existence Level is abstract and vague, but it truly exists in this world. Norton's Existence Level is higher than Father Abraham's, therefore he can control everything Father Abraham.
If Norton, the progenitor of Vampire to Father Abraham, were to be hanged on a cross, then Norton's Existence Level would cause even Vampire like Father Abraham, created by Norton and of lower Existence Level than Norton, to fear the cross.
Therefore, since Kuba, the progenitor, was killed and turned into a cross, other Vampire must be afraid of crosses!
Therefore, regardless of whether the cross's effect against Vampire originates from God or Kuba, this suppression of Existence Level is the most effective weapon against the Vampire race.
The reason God is called God lies primarily in His Existence Level.
Those of Existence Level cannot even harm those of Existence Level. On the contrary, if those of Existence Level feel something amiss, it will be directly reflected in those of Existence Level. This is absolute control, and the absolute authority possessed by the Creator!
The concept of Existence Level is abstract and vague, but it has been reflected in the Church's research and records over the years.
The most prominent examples of this are the methods used against Vampire and the advancement of Vampire.
