Background / History

Defender of the Realm Sea

Su Ting succeeded his father as leader of the Su Imperial Clan and bore that responsibility for thousands of years. He regularly stood at the front of battles against the Devil Race; his protection was credited with preventing the clan's population from being at least halved 12 130.

Several hundred years before his recovery, Devil Emperors led by the Devil Emperor of All Living Beings ambushed him. He suffered severe injuries while protecting a clansman who had not yet reached the Quasi-Emperor realm. Corpse Devil Qi subsequently corroded his flesh and soul, leaving him bedridden on ten-thousand-year mystic ice. By the time Su Chen intervened, the elders believed he had no more than a month to live 7 9 12 16.

Recovery and Withdrawal from the Realm Sea

Su Chen purged the Devil Qi in less than a breath. Upon waking, Su Ting mistook the rejuvenated ancestor for a junior clansman and lectured him on proper conduct. Once Su Ya identified the young man as his father, Su Ting hurriedly dismissed the elders before receiving a beating inside Tingxiao Imperial Palace 8 9.

After discovering a hidden message on the first ancestor's plaque, Su Ting reconsidered the clan's obligation to suppress the Devil Race alone. He proposed withdrawing its Great Emperors if the devils swore a Heavenly Dao Blood Oath not to attack the Su Clan. With Su Chen's approval, he led the clan's Quasi-Emperors to bring their relatives home 12.

The proposed truce failed: the Devil Emperor of All Living Beings revealed that the suppression array had already been broken and ordered an invasion of the Black-Yellow Realm. His transformed power overwhelmed Su Ting, whose spiritual power became unusable under the pressure. Su Chen's protective barrier saved him from the ensuing attack 16 17 19.

Accepting the New Su Chen

Su Ting privately suspected that the soul occupying his father's body was not the original Su Chen. His unlikely clue was the beating after his recovery: his father would have struck much harder. When Su Yun revealed the same discovery, Su Ting argued that their father's exhausted lifespan explained his death and that the newcomer had instead saved the family 30.

He ordered his siblings to keep the truth from the rest of the clan and continue respecting the new Su Chen as their father and patriarch. His acceptance rested on gratitude rather than ignorance: he understood the replacement and credited him with giving the clan a second life 30.

Reckoning with the Liu Imperial Clan

Su Ting confronted the Liu Imperial Clan over its accusations that the Su Clan had colluded with the Devil Race. He fought Liu Ruyan and produced recordings documenting the Su Clan's depleted resources, battlefield losses, and rejected requests for assistance. When the crowd claimed he had accepted the devils' blood oath, he killed thousands of devils without provoking Heavenly Dao punishment, demonstrating that no such oath bound him 43 45 46 47.

The confrontation exposed a greater trap: a forbidden formation used the Su bloodline to drain clan members regardless of their location. Su Ting could not halt the draining through combat and prepared to use the clan's subsidiary formations before Su Chen's intervention stopped it. The attempted sacrifice hardened his position against the Liu Imperial Clan beyond his original intention of punishing only its leadership 50 51 52 54.

Establishing the Clan in the Azure Yang Realm

Su Ting supported leaving the Black-Yellow Realm, telling hesitant clansmen that their ancestral land was wherever their family lived. In the Azure Yang Realm, he helped investigate its dominant powers and led his siblings toward the Immortal Manor Secret Realm 68 69 74.

Their main objective was to test local experts and establish the Su Clan's reputation, not obtain the immortal inheritance. Su Ting's Half-Immortal strength helped secure recognition of the clan as the realm's third overlord-level faction. He subsequently fought the Heavenly Net Hall master and Holy Maiden Palace master together 81 88 93 94.

Mystic Bone High Person interrupted with a surprise attack that severely injured him. Su Ting escaped using the means provided by Su Chen and later returned as a Pseudo-Immortal to settle the debt. During the Heavenly Net Hall's attack on the clan, he also used a realm core to replace a destroyed barrier, revealing that the enemy had broken only one portion of the larger formation 97 131 141.

After Su Chen destroyed the Heavenly Net Hall, Su Ting directed the cleanup and ordered Su Yan to spread battle footage while concealing Su Chen's role. He then withdrew to prepare for immortality 149.

Expansion in the Immortal Realm

Once the clan established its base at Ten Thousand Mirrors Mountain, Su Ting resumed cultivation under Su Chen's direction. He later received orders to spread the Su Imperial Clan's influence across neighboring empires, using subsidiary teleportation marks linked to the Eternal Imperial Palace 172 184.

While advance parties traveled and established coordinates, he alternated between the clan's secret realms and cultivation area. After more than a year of travel by those parties, he and Su Shuang'er prepared to depart for the Myriad Daos Unsealing Empire 201 220.

Appearance

Su Ting appears as a sturdy young man with a broad chest, dignified features, and the bearing of an experienced ruler 7.

  • Clothing: Introduced wearing a golden robe 7.
  • Build: Imposing physique, broad hands, and strongly arched brows 7 30.
  • Thunder manifestations: Can become wreathed in purple lightning, with his hair transforming into dancing electrical arcs 16 94.
  • After his physique enhancement: Thundercloud-like patterns appeared deep in his pupils, and purple lightning formed a tangible robe around his body 27.

Personality

Su Ting is blunt, proud, and quick-tempered. He believes a Su clansman should be capable of answering an enemy with either fists or words, and readily uses taunts in confrontations. His solemn patriarchal image contrasts with his fear of his father, rooted in the strict physical discipline he received as a child 9 10 130.

His foremost loyalty is to his family. He risked his life to protect a weaker clansman and blamed himself for failing to discover the ancestral plaque's hidden message sooner. After learning how thoroughly the other imperial clans had exploited the Su Clan's sacrifices, he placed its survival above continuing an unsupported duty to the Black-Yellow Realm 12 54 58.

He is also pragmatic and capable of restraint. He accepted the new Su Chen despite knowing the truth about his soul, delayed a breakthrough to strengthen his foundation, and instructed his siblings to retreat through the subsidiary formations rather than die fighting stronger opponents 30 74 81.
