By the time Redding arrived at the site where the Water Divine Plane was to be established, bringing the Sovereigns of the Four Divine Beasts' faction with him, quite a few Sovereigns had already gathered there.
The groups of Sovereigns were all small, mostly coming in twos and threes, with one or two traveling alone. Redding's party of seven Sovereigns was the largest group present so far.
The arrival of Redding's group naturally drew frequent glances from the Sovereigns present. Seven Sovereigns already posed a considerable threat.
If Redding and the others shamelessly attacked a Mid-level Sovereign, there was a high chance that the Mid-level Sovereign would fall to their combined assault.
Redding swept his gaze over the gathering. The few Sovereigns traveling alone were nearly all some distance from the crowd. In particular, around the area occupied by Redding's group, not only the lone Sovereigns but even those who had come in groups subconsciously kept their distance.
Anyone who had managed to obtain a Sovereign Spark and cultivate until now was no fool. Of those who had readily trusted others, all but a few whose strength was great enough to suppress everything else had long since had grass several yards high growing over their graves.
No Sovereign was willing to talk to Redding and the others, and they were happy to leave it that way.
The Four Divine Beasts' faction already had quite a few Sovereigns, and they were all comrades who could entrust their lives to one another. Redding sought quality over quantity. Truly reliable Sovereigns were the comrades their faction needed to recruit; no matter how many opportunistic fence-sitters joined them, they would be useless.
If they really needed to expand, they could always wait until the family had been established and the war among Sovereigns began, then hunt Sovereigns and nurture the younger generation. Wouldn't that be far more reliable than looking for ready-made allies?
As more and more Sovereigns gathered, the atmosphere grew increasingly tense. With their numbers growing, Sovereigns who had clashed in the past also found themselves gathered together.
Enemies burned with particular hatred when they met. If they had encountered one another in Spatial Turbulence under normal circumstances, these Sovereigns would certainly have had a "friendly" exchange.
But now that the Sovereigns of the various planes had nearly all gathered here, they were afraid that if they really fought, other Sovereigns would take advantage of them.
Redding could already imagine how thrilling the private battles between these feuding Sovereigns would be in Spatial Turbulence once the gathering ended and everyone went their separate ways.
The thought left Redding feeling rather pleased with himself. Fortunately, he was usually kind to others and good at pulling up the grass by its roots, so he didn't have many enemies in the Four Overgod Planes. He didn't need to worry about being targeted by others the way these Sovereigns did.
Redding's good mood didn't last long, however, before Laius interrupted it with a divine sense message. "Big brother, that brat has become a Sovereign too."
Looking in the direction Laius indicated, Redding found a Sovereign staring fixedly at them.
Sensing the Water Element divine power emanating from that Sovereign, Redding frowned slightly. He shouldn't have offended an expert like this.
As Redding remembered it, every great enemy he and his siblings had offended over the years had been sent on a one-way trip to the Netherworld, heart and soul. There was no reason for a God Level enemy to suddenly appear.
Seeing Redding's puzzled expression, Laius explained quietly from beside him, "Big brother, that brat fought Bowen and me in the Skyrite Mountains back then. In the end, you destroyed his Darkness Element Divine Clone with your Innate Divine Ability."
Laius's reminder finally brought it back to Redding. Something like that had indeed happened.
Back when Redding was still a Lowgod, he had used his Innate Divine Ability to kill the man's Darkness Divine Clone. He hadn't expected the fellow to be so lucky: not only had his Water Element Divine Clone survived, but he had even obtained a Sovereign Spark and become a Sovereign.
Standing alone some distance from the other Sovereigns, Tristan stared fixedly in Redding's direction. In his mind, the figure who had gripped him by the throat hundreds of thousands of years ago slowly overlapped with Redding. "Redding!"
Tristan's fingernails dug viciously into the flesh of his palms.
After his strongest Divine Clone fell at Redding's hands, Tristan hadn't dared linger for a moment. He had left the Infernal Realm at once and made his way to the Celestial Realm, the Fate Overgod Plane.
Tristan had been lucky after arriving in the Celestial Realm. Within a few hundred thousand years, not only had his Water Element Divine Clone broken through to the Highgod level, but he had also seized a High-level Sovereign Spark there.
Although Tristan had Sovereign-level strength, he had fused few profound mysteries of the Water Element laws, and his divine body had not reached the toughness of a Sovereign Artifact. Among Sovereign-level experts, he was almost at the bottom.
On top of that, Tristan had obtained his Sovereign Spark relatively late. Although he possessed Sovereign-level strength, not a single Sovereign had pledged allegiance to him.
As the Water Element Sovereign, he had not a single Sovereign under him for the establishment of the Water Divine Plane. That left Tristan feeling somewhat embarrassed.
Tristan longed to tear Redding and the Four Divine Beasts to pieces, but with so many Sovereigns gathered in Spatial Turbulence for the establishment of the Water Divine Plane, he too worried that other Sovereigns might take advantage of him.
More importantly, Redding's side had strength in numbers, with seven Sovereigns in all. Tristan wasn't confident: if even one of Redding's group was a High-level Sovereign, Tristan might end up being killed by them instead.
Habits formed over countless years had made Tristan cautious. Until he had determined the strength of Redding and the others, he would not lightly attack them.
Redding had no idea what Tristan was thinking, and even if he had known, he wouldn't have cared.
Since mastering the Four Divine Beasts' Innate Divine Ability, they had yet to find a Sovereign-level expert to test it on. If Tristan dared attack the Four Divine Beasts now, Redding might well laugh aloud.
More and more Sovereigns gathered in Spatial Turbulence. Among them, Redding also spotted his alternate identity, Leijia, following the two Sovereign-level experts of Life and Death.
The appearance of ten God Level experts together in Spatial Turbulence, two of them High-level Sovereigns, caused an even greater stir than Redding's group had.
The two Sovereigns of Life and Death weren't the only ones. In another corner of Spatial Turbulence, Redding saw a familiar figure: Uhtred, the Sovereign of Destruction.
At this point, Uhtred had yet to become a Paragon, much less obtain an Overgod Artifact. He was not yet the man who would become one of the Four Rules Sovereigns.
Uhtred's entire body was shrouded in a purple-black robe. Three Sovereigns followed him: two of the Destruction Element and one of the Darkness Element.
In terms of strength, the current Uhtred was not much stronger than an ordinary Law Sovereign.
Against one Sovereign, Uhtred could barely suppress him; against two at once, he would be beaten into a headlong flight.
As for the Fate Sovereign, he was a burly man in golden robes, not Orloff, the good-natured man Redding remembered. Presumably, this Fate Sovereign would fall in the near future and make room for Orloff.
As for the other Law Sovereigns of the Fire Element, Earth Element, and Lightning Element, each also had a number of Sovereigns gathered around him.
Looking across the gathering, there were more than sixty Sovereigns. Aside from the few who had not received word, or the Sovereigns who had fused multiple Sovereign Sparks,
it could be said that nearly all the Sovereigns of the Four Overgod Planes had come.
