Choosing a Continent

As the Laws of the Universe descended, the magic formation was established, and the spatial barrier of the Water Divine Plane gradually stabilized.

A smile hung on Tristan's face. Now that he had opened up the Water Divine Plane, he would no longer have to fight the other Sovereigns in the Celestial Realm for territory, and his strength had grown tremendously in the process.

Clearing his throat, Tristan addressed the Water Sovereigns around him. "Everyone, now that the Water Divine Plane has been established, we Water Sovereigns should look out for one another. How about we each choose a continent in the Water Divine Plane and settle there?"

Tristan had it all planned out. As the Water Element Sovereign, his combat strength was inferior to those Sovereign-level experts, but these Mid-level and Lower Sovereigns could not possibly match him.

If he persuaded these Water Sovereigns to stay in the Water Divine Plane, the Sovereigns backing them surely could not keep an eye on them at all times.

Once they were in the Water Divine Plane, even if these Water Sovereigns refused to obey him, the Water Element Sovereign, he could arrange a few little accidents, reclaim their Sovereign Sparks, and cultivate forces loyal to himself.

Who among those who had managed to obtain a Sovereign Spark and live for hundreds of thousands of years was not full of schemes?

The moment Tristan spoke, the other Water Sovereigns knew what he was plotting.

The Mid-level Sovereign whose earlier words had earned Tristan's resentment was the first to speak again. "Tristan, I don't want my continent!"

With that, he gave Tristan no chance to speak again and flew toward the Sovereign he had pledged himself to.

With the Water Element Intermediate Sovereign taking the lead, the other Water Sovereigns gave up choosing territory in the Water Divine Plane one after another.

Only Redding and one other Lower Sovereign remained silent.

A bunch of shortsighted fools, Redding muttered to himself, but he did not explain what these continents meant to the Sovereigns.

Redding understood what these Sovereigns were thinking. Each of them already had territory in the Four Overgod Planes.

The Water Divine Plane had only just been opened up. Though it appeared no smaller than the Four Overgod Planes, it was nothing but barren wasteland. There were no people, not even a single blade of grass.

There was no telling how much time and effort it would take to develop it to the current level of the Four Overgod Planes.

As these Sovereigns saw it, only a fool would give up their territory in an Overgod Plane to hold on to barren land in the Water Divine Plane, all while worrying about the threat posed by Tristan, a Sovereign.

But what these Sovereigns had not considered was that once the other Divine Planes were opened up, many Sovereigns would surely move to their respective Divine Planes. The Edict Sovereigns already in the Four Overgod Planes would not like the Law Sovereigns occupying their territory and refusing to leave, either.

When that time came, these Sovereigns could only pray that the Sovereigns backing them would grant them a piece of territory.

Otherwise, the continents they looked down on and casually gave up today would likely leave them regretting their decision for millions of years.

After the other Sovereigns gave up their claims, Redding raised a hand and pointed, marking out the continent he had opened up, the nearest continent, which belonged to another Water Sovereign, and the part of the inland sea containing the Planar Teleportation Array.

"Mr. Tristan, since they don't want them, how about this area becomes mine?" The other continent Redding had marked out was slightly smaller than the one he had opened up, but the two continents, together with the sea he had claimed, amounted to nearly a third of the entire Water Divine Plane.

Tristan clearly had not expected Redding to choose to stay in the Water Divine Plane, much less greedily ask for more territory.

Tristan was surprised, but a smile spread across his face the next second. "Of course. From now on, that territory is yours to govern."

With that, Tristan turned his gaze to the other Lower Sovereign who had not given up his claim. "You choose some territory too."

This Sovereign had refined his Sovereign Spark more recently than any of the others. Aside from a few Sovereign friends, he had yet to find a powerful Sovereign to back him.

With Tristan, the Water Element Sovereign, having spoken, the Lower Water Sovereign did not dare to be greedy. Trembling, he chose the continent he had opened up and marked out part of the sea around it as his territory.

Seeing that the Lower Sovereign knew how to conduct himself, Tristan nodded slightly. "Then the remaining continents and seas are mine."

Naturally, Tristan would not leave any territory for the other Sovereigns who had given up their claims in the Water Divine Plane.

As he spoke, Tristan glanced discreetly in Redding's direction.

His Darkness Element Divine Clone had perished at Redding's hands. Now Tristan knew that Redding was only a Lower Sovereign, and that he had also acquired territory in the Water Divine Plane.

Tristan felt he was no longer in a hurry to kill Redding. It would not be too late to wait until Redding had developed his two territories before slowly torturing him.

No matter how strong a mere Lower Sovereign was, he could not escape Tristan's grasp.

Once the Water Divine Plane had been opened up, the Elemental Sovereigns learned from the Water Sovereigns that opening up a Divine Plane could increase the speed at which they fused the profound mysteries of the Laws.

In an instant, a strange light appeared in the eyes of all the Law Sovereigns present.

Redding also returned to Laius and the others. Beside him, Nemo spoke with some urgency. "Big brother, are you all right?"

The grudge between Tristan and the Four Divine Beasts was almost irreconcilable. From the moment Tristan's Darkness Divine Clone perished, the conflict between the two sides had reached the point where one of them had to die.

While Redding was opening up the Divine Plane, Nemo and the others had been on edge, worried that Tristan would attack Redding as soon as it was complete.

They had remained tense the entire time. If Tristan dared to attack, all six of them would strike together to save Redding.

With the Fusion Innate Divine Ability unleashed by the Four Divine Beasts together, they might even be able to kill Tristan outright.

Now that the Water Divine Plane had been opened up, most of the Sovereigns had no interest in remaining in the Spatial Turbulence.

After all, the newly opened Water Divine Plane was still barren, with nothing worth seeing. It fell far short of the Four Overgod Planes.

Just as some of the Sovereigns were preparing to leave, a voice rang out. "Everyone, please wait."

Redding looked toward the source of the voice and saw a burly man in a golden robe.

Redding had some impression of the man. He seemed to be the Fate Sovereign and held considerable influence in the Celestial Realm. Eight Sovereigns followed him, making his faction the second largest at this gathering, surpassed only by the combined forces of the Sovereigns of Life and Death.

The Fate Sovereign in the golden robe drew the attention of every Sovereign present the moment he spoke.

Clearing his throat, the Fate Sovereign said, "Everyone, I am Norman. Today, I would like to ask the Sovereigns present to serve as witnesses. Bryan and I are initiating a duel, and the loser will surrender all of his territory in the Celestial Realm!"
