A silver-haired man in purple robes wielded a metal spear, attacking a burly, dark-faced man.
The dark-faced man held a pitch-black saber, using it to block every thrust of the spear. Each of his moves was filled with an unstoppable destructive presence.
"Second Brother, stop for a moment. Let's watch their fight." Standing on Laius's back, Redding stopped him from continuing on their way.
Both men fighting in the air gave off the presence of Highgods. By Redding's judgment, both had strength approaching that of a Five-Star Fiend.
Generally, someone who had become a god by comprehending all six Profound Mysteries of a single elemental law had the strength of a Four-Star Fiend. To reach the level of a Five-Star Fiend, one not only had to fully comprehend all the Profound Mysteries of a single element, but also had to fuse two of them.
Even the weakest of the Four Divine Beasts had already begun fusing a third Profound Mystery, but that was because Redding's memories of his previous life had given them a head start.
At this early stage of the universe, anyone who could reach such a level of strength could already be called a dragon or phoenix among men.
If they didn't fall before then, it wasn't impossible that they might become Sovereigns.
Watching the two fight from a distance, Redding unconsciously used the Floating Shadow Technique to record the battle.
The universe had only just come into being, and it was rare to see experts of this level fight to the death. Besides, the Lightning Element Highgod had already embarked on the path of the Fusion Law. Recording it might yield some benefit.
With a slash, the dark-faced man knocked the Lightning Element Highgod's spear aside and shouted angrily, "Frost, don't push me too far!"
"Too far?" The Lightning Element Highgod named Frost chuckled. "Pash, did cultivating the Law of Destruction destroy your brain too? If you know what's good for you, hand over your half of that wondrous object and leave quietly. I'll spare your life!"
Rather than anger, Frost's threat drew laughter from Pash. "Frost, you think you've got me beaten? When that wondrous object appeared, we agreed to take a portion each. If you want mine now, fine-but let's see if you're strong enough!"
Divine power erupted, and a dense destructive presence surged from Pash. His saber glimmered with a cold, dazzling silver light.
Watching Pash use the Destruction Element Law, Laius, who was carrying Redding and the other two, sank into thought. His Destruction Element Divine Clone was still only a Lowgod, while this man named Pash had already cultivated the Destruction Element Law to the Highgod level. Some of the ways Pash applied the law in his attacks gave Laius considerable insight.
Beside him, Redding recorded the fight with the Image Recording Technique while thinking, Pash? That name sounds familiar. Have I heard it somewhere before?
After thinking for a long time, Redding finally recalled something from the vast store of memories in his mind. Pash... could this guy be the Blood Peak Sovereign?
In his memories of his previous life, Coiling Dragon had mentioned that the Blood Peak Sovereign's real name was Pash.
However, Pash was called the Blood Peak Sovereign the vast majority of the time, and his real name was mentioned only a few times.
A Highgod who cultivated the Destruction Element Law. As Redding considered it, he became somewhat certain that this Highgod named Pash was very likely the future Blood Peak Sovereign, one of the Seven Sovereigns of Hell and the ruler of the continent beneath their feet.
Of course, the current Blood Peak Sovereign was still just a minor Highgod, and he was even struggling somewhat in his fight against the Lightning Element Highgod.
The battle gradually reached a fever pitch. The pressure the two men radiated seemed roughly equal, but Frost was clearly a little stronger than Pash.
After fighting for so long, Pash was beginning to show signs of weakness. His Destruction Element divine power was rapidly being pushed back, while the purple lightning gained the upper hand in their battle.
Frost's spear sent Pash flying once again. Pash panted heavily, and the hand gripping his saber trembled slightly.
Frost's laughter was rather smug. "Pash, you're no match for me. Hand over that wondrous object quietly!"
Pash clenched his teeth. "Not a chance!"
"If you won't accept a toast, you'll have to drink a forfeit. Then die!" As Frost spoke, lightning blazed around him, and his imposing presence abruptly surged to a new level.
As Laius watched their battle, his Destruction Element Divine Clone suddenly flew out of his Saint Domain True Body. He wore a rather unrestrained smile. "The Edict of Destruction... so that's how it is! Haha!"
As he spoke, the Laws of the Universe sent down a beam of light. Paying no attention to the two men fighting in the distance, Laius's Destruction Divine Clone was instantly enveloped by the light from the Laws of the Universe, which began transforming his Divine Spark.
As he pressed his attack on Pash, Frost swept his divine sense toward Redding and the other three. Sensing the presence they gave off, he saw no reason to fear a mere few Midgods. He would deal with them after he finished off Pash.
Enveloped in the light of the Laws of the Universe, Laius's Destruction Element Divine Spark flew out of his divine body and underwent the light's transformation. In just over a dozen breaths, the Destruction Element Lowgod Spark completed its transformation.
The Divine Spark entered his body, and Laius's Destruction Element Divine Clone slowly opened his eyes.
Beside him, Bowen asked, "Second Brother, how does it feel?"
Laius smiled. "Not bad. It's a pity the Destruction Element Edict can't be fused like the Profound Mysteries of the Laws. Otherwise, I could have greatly increased my strength without cultivating all the way to the Highgod level."
The Profound Mysteries of the Four Edicts differed from those of the Seven Laws. The Profound Mysteries of an Edict formed a single whole, rather than being composed of individual laws. Naturally, they couldn't be fused at the Midgod level like the Profound Mysteries of the Laws to gain power surpassing that of an ordinary Highgod.
Seeing that Laius had made his breakthrough, Redding nodded and smiled. "Let's go."
Laius had broken through, and the battle between the two Highgods was also drawing to a close. Frost was attacking the Highgod named Pash with all his might, keeping him on the defensive. Continuing to watch a battle like this would do little to improve their strength; they would be better off spending the time traveling.
As for Pash, who might be the Blood Peak Sovereign, Redding paid him little mind. Whether or not he would become the Blood Peak Sovereign in the future, he was currently just a Highgod who had yet to reach the Five-Star Fiend level. He might even fall at Frost's hands for lack of strength.
At Redding's command, Laius nodded. His Destruction Element Divine Clone merged into his Saint Domain True Body, and he prepared to resume carrying the three of them toward the Zijing Continent.
Nearby, Frost was suppressing Pash with all his might. Seeing that Redding and the other three were about to leave, he thrust his spear sharply, stabbing at Pash and sending him toward Redding and the others.
Violent Lightning Element Profound Mysteries erupted, and Pash shot through the air like a cannonball, tracing a perfect arc as he hurtled toward Redding and the other three.
As Frost saw it, he had gradually gained the upper hand over Pash, and they were just a few Midgods. If Redding and the others had tried to leave when the fight first began, he would have had no way to stop them. Now, though, he might as well add a few more Midgod Sparks to his interspatial ring.
