History

Foundation and Rise

The Jade Spring Sect was founded nearly three thousand years before Chen Shuangbai’s admission. Its inherited cultivation crafts remained in continuous use, with later generations improving them; one predecessor adapted its alchemy into the sect’s distinctive water-method technique 25 26.

Its rise over the Spirit-Seeking Sect was secured by Ling Qingque’s victory over that sect’s great elder, True Person Kunyuan. After reaching Half-Step Nascent Soul, Kunyuan attempted to subdue or absorb Jing Kingdom’s other four great sects, beginning with Jade Spring. Ling Qingque, who had only recently reached Golden Core Great Perfection, fought him for a full day at Falling Star Cliff and forced him to flee with half an arm lost 34.

The Spirit-Seeking Sect subsequently declined, while Jade Spring expanded its influence and seized Feng Province from it. Ling Qingque also killed one of Spirit-Seeking’s Golden Core True Persons. These conflicts left the two sects bitter enemies and established Jade Spring as Jing Kingdom’s strongest sect 34.

Current Position

The sect exclusively controls three provinces and maintains markets throughout its territory. Rather than suppressing Rogue Cultivators, it supplies them with cultivation goods, earning the best reputation among Jing Kingdom’s five great sects 29 30.

Its close relationship with the Empty Sword Sect creates the possibility of involvement in that sect’s wind copper mine dispute with the Heart-Eroding Stronghold. Jade Spring’s intervention is discussed as a likely necessity for Empty Sword, not an already concluded arrangement. During the escalating conflict, the Expenditure Hall purchases thirty to forty percent more basic pills than in the previous year 33 34.

Organization

Three Great Halls and Nine Divisions

The sect’s administration consists of three great halls, each overseeing three subordinate halls 1.

Great Hall Subordinate Hall Documented Responsibilities
Abyss Suppression Hall Jade Guarding Hall Internal defense, patrols, protection of vital sites, formation maintenance, and responses to invasions or rebellion 23 50
Abyss Suppression Hall Evil Hunting Hall External combat operations and enforcement against disciples who harm fellow members 23 39 45
Abyss Suppression Hall Artifact Forging Hall Artifact production, including pill furnaces specially suited to Jade Spring disciples 28
Dao Transmission Hall Scripture Pavilion Hall Custody and distribution of Law Techniques; consultation of cultivation records 4 21
Dao Transmission Hall Jade Dew Hall Spirit-medicine cultivation and pill refining 7
Dao Transmission Hall Scripture Transmission Hall Instruction of newly admitted disciples 2
Myriad Phenomena Hall Registration Hall Listed as one of the nine subordinate halls; specific duties are not described 1
Myriad Phenomena Hall Expenditure Hall Merit Point assessment, task administration, resource exchanges, and purchasing disciples’ crafted goods 6 14 30
Myriad Phenomena Hall Hundred Crafts Hall Craft work and commerce; maintains a shop at Cloud Peak Market 11 12

Inner Sect’s Six Peaks

Peak Masters must ordinarily be at Late Foundation Establishment. Snow-Listening Peak is the exception: its master, True Person Mei, is a Golden Core cultivator whose strength and status rank second only to Ling Qingque’s within the sect 17.

Peak Known Members or Distinction
Jade-Rinsing Peak One of the six inner peaks 17
Cloud-Roosting Peak Lu Xin’s affiliation, also rendered as Cloud-Resting Peak 17
Dew-Drinking Peak Du Zifeng’s affiliation 37
Moon-Drawn Peak One of the six inner peaks 17
Snow-Listening Peak Led by True Person Mei 17
Heavenly Spring Peak Affiliation of Ding Chengyu, Yi Chongyue, and A Heng; its disciples principally gather at Jade Dew Hall 17 25
  • Inner disciples — Selected for their potential, not merely their current cultivation level. According to Deacon Tian, those admitted to the six peaks have at least a fifty percent chance of achieving Foundation Establishment 19.
  • Outer-sect personnel — Disciples whose potential is exhausted may remain in administrative service. Deacon Tian reached the Eighth Layer of Qi Refinement but could not qualify for the inner sect 19.
  • Law societies — Disciples also maintain societies such as Lush Foliage Pavilion, which preserves the original Spring Rain and Flowering Wood Sword Instruction 36.

Recruitment and Disciple Life

Admission and Training

Requirement or Milestone Rule or Benefit
Recruitment cycle Disciples are accepted once every ten years from across Jing Kingdom 1.
Spirit Root verification Applicants pass through the mountain gate’s spirit-testing formation to confirm their aptitude and expose deception 1.
Initial rank All newcomers begin as registered disciples, regardless of their mortal status 1.
First three months Those who fail to develop a sense of Qi are sent down the mountain 1.
First year Those who fail to reach the Third Layer of Qi Refinement are also dismissed; successful candidates become formal disciples entered in the sect’s records 1.
First Layer of Qi Refinement New disciples may choose two Law Techniques free of charge. Their selections cannot subsequently be exchanged 4.
Third Layer of Qi Refinement Disciples may collect a free, limited-capacity Storage Bag from the Expenditure Hall 14.
After five years Newly admitted disciples must leave the mountain for a three-year regional garrison assignment 50.
  • Foundational instruction — Registered disciples are taught the Jade Spring Qi Ingestion Method immediately after admission 2.
  • Garrison placements — Disciples may choose from available posts or accept the sect’s arrangement. Those with mortal relatives and friends may visit home before taking up their duties 50.
  • Purpose of outside service — Garrison duty tests cultivation results and keeps disciples connected to human life rather than becoming emotionally detached through prolonged seclusion 50.
  • Failed Foundation Establishment — Disciples may remain in outer-sect service to earn resources for another attempt, or obtain permission to establish a tributary cultivation lineage outside the mountain 23.

Rules and Enforcement

  • Mutual protection — Disciples must support one another outside the sect. Fighting or harming fellow members is forbidden; offenders, along with their friends and relatives, face pursuit by the Evil Hunting Hall 39.
  • Protection of the territory — Disciples are expected to intervene against Bandit Cultivators, harmful Demon Beasts, and abusive local officials 39.
  • Secrecy contracts — Learning the sect’s unique alchemy or talisman methods requires a binding contract. Leaking secret techniques is punishable by death 26 27.
  • Controlled advanced instruction — Access to first-tier and higher alchemy teachings depends on qualifications such as talent, inner-disciple status, or exceptional service 26.

Cultivation and Inherited Arts

Water, Wood, and Earth Arts

The sect’s Cultivation Methods, Law Techniques, and Law Treasures predominantly follow water, wood, and earth, with water foremost 5.

  • Other Spirit Roots — Applicants with other elemental aptitudes are still accepted, although those inheritances are comparatively weaker 40.
  • Artifact control — The sect’s elders created a dedicated artifact-control technique for disciples 12.
  • Breadth of instruction — Its collection contains thousands of spells, secret methods, and incantations, including records of previous cultivators’ insights 35 45.
Art Function
Jade Spring Qi Ingestion Method Foundational cultivation method taught to registered disciples 2.
Cold Spring Guidance Introductory water-shaping technique. Chen Shuangbai develops unusually extensive combat applications from it 5 36.
Spirit-Appraising Pupil Observes Spiritual Qi, unusual Qi, and the practitioner’s internal condition 5.
Water and Wood Pure Splendor Incantation Support technique combining healing, purification, battlefield control, and enhancement 35.
Azure Billows Layered Waves Instruction Layers water-aspect Law Power for a charged strike, up to nine layers; its effect is halved in places rich in fire and metal Qi 35.
Spring Rain and Flowering Wood Sword Instruction Six-form sword art emphasizing sustained water-and-wood circulation rather than overwhelming force 36 37.
Vermilion Crow Bathing in Fire True Explanation The sect’s only fire-aspect Cultivation Method 40.

Water-Method Alchemy

The Jade Spring Water Method Pill Refining Technique, also called the Jade Spring Alchemy Technique, uses water as a medium to dissolve spirit medicines and extract their essence. A Pill Furnace remains necessary 25 27.

  • Advantages — Produces gentle, easily absorbed pills with relatively little pill poison; particularly suitable for water- and wood-aspect cultivators and for stabilizing cultivation foundations 25.
  • Limitation — Its pills are generally less potent than comparable fire-method products 25.
  • Standing — Jade Spring ranks among Jing Kingdom’s top two alchemy sects, nearly matching the Spirit-Seeking Sect 6 25.
  • Apprentice classification — Practitioners who can refine only pills below first tier are not recognized as full Alchemists 30.
  • Jade Spring Five Pills — Improved versions of the Water Cloud Pill, Miasma-Cleansing Pill, Jade Healing Pill, Jade Dew Pill, and Spring-Turning Pill, developed by the sect’s Grand Alchemist 30.

Talisman Crafting and Innovation

  • Jade Spring Twelve Spirit Talisman Method — A proprietary talisman-crafting inheritance taught under a binding contract 26.
  • Accessible basic crafts — Basic alchemy and talisman instruction below first tier costs only a small number of Merit Points 26.
  • Original techniques — Disciples may voluntarily submit newly created techniques or Cultivation Methods for Merit, while retaining the originals and their recorded cultivation insights 36.

Resources and Economy

Merit Points and Merit

Resource Uses and Acquisition
Merit Points Measure ordinary contributions. Earned through assignments and craft production; exchanged for techniques, materials, equipment, and facilities 5 6 28 30.
Merit Higher-grade recognition awarded for accomplishments such as submitting original techniques. Can obtain resources unavailable for Merit Points, including Peak Master sermons, admission under a chosen Peak Master, and higher teachings 36.
  • Provincial markets — Sell pills, talismans, formations, and artifacts produced by the sect’s halls to the many Rogue Cultivators in its territory 30.
  • Craft-based income — Sustained market demand allows skilled disciples to support their cultivation through regular production 30.
  • Imperial offerings — The sect maintains close ties with Jing Kingdom’s imperial family and receives substantial annual offerings 4.
  • Tributary lineages — Families founded by former disciples expand the sect’s territory and provide regular tribute. The Fan Household of Jing Valley is one such vassal lineage 23 29.
