Appearance
- Youthful face: Has a sweet, harmless-looking baby face and round, almond-shaped eyes. Others sometimes mistake his appearance for evidence of a good temper 26 36 38.
- Pointed canines: Frequently reveals a small canine tooth when smiling, teasing, or acting innocent 21 26 34.
- Height: Roughly two centimeters shorter than Gu Xiao; compensates for the difference with thick-soled shoes 38.
- Grooming: Carefully styles his hair and complains when Fu Huai deliberately ruffles it 4.
Personality
Feng Ji is playful, easily bored, and eager to turn other people's suffering into entertainment. He opposes expelling Lu Keyan because it would end their game too quickly, wagers on how long the scholarship student will resist, and later asks when they can bully the Aisili brothers for fun 2 3 46.
His apparent innocence conceals pronounced class prejudice and a willingness to use violence. He kicks Lu Keyan for looking him in the eye as an equal, dismisses a bar host's possible death as unimportant, and suggests disguising the Aisili twins' deaths as accidents. The narration also states that enemies of the Feng Family have died after underestimating his harmless exterior 5 27 35 38.
Around Gu Xiao, Feng Ji becomes flirtatious, attention-seeking, and skilled at acting spoiled. He blushes under Gu Xiao's gaze, feigns drunkenness to seek physical closeness, and envies the contact Gu Xiao allows other people. His youthful appearance is nevertheless a sore point: Shelley's repeated treatment of him as a “cutie” provokes his anger 4 25 27 38 39.
He values F4's longstanding bond while competing fiercely within it. He refuses to believe He Shuyu and Lu Keyan could break the group apart, yet deliberately needles Ji Chuan and resents Fu Huai's privileged access to Gu Xiao. He also understands that their friendship rests partly on a balance of interests between their families 22 33 39 43.
Abilities & Skills
Mental Power
- Possesses A+ mental power; no advancement beyond this rank is documented 2.
- Is substantially weaker than Gu Xiao. Even mental power intended to soothe Lin Qi affects Feng Ji from over a meter away, leaving him flushed, embarrassed, and unable to resist its influence 20.
Racing and Extreme Sports
- Enjoys many kinds of extreme sports and owns a mountain road used for racing 37.
- Loses to Shelley Aisili after briefly losing focus near the finish. His claim that sleepiness prevented him from accelerating conceals that he had not held back much 37.
- Rides as Gu Xiao's passenger during the rematch. Gu Xiao's speed and maneuvers leave him exhilarated and physically unsteady afterward 38 39.
Deception and Social Manipulation
- Uses an innocent face, sweet smiles, and spoiled behavior to lower others' guard. This façade has deceived both ordinary observers and enemies of his family 26 38.
- Pretends to be drunk to lean against Gu Xiao and ask for help. Fu Huai recognizes the act because Feng Ji has exceptionally high alcohol tolerance 26 27.
- Disguises attacks on Ji Chuan as concern for Gu Xiao, drawing attention to Ji Chuan's absences and supposed romantic pursuits 33 34.
Property & Gifts
- Mountain road: Bought as a gift to himself for his eighteenth birthday; later serves as the course for the races against Shelley 37.
- T-C shareholding: Holds a small stake in the Ji Family-controlled venue, as do the other F4 members 21.
- Iris estate: Gives Gu Xiao an estate valued at one or two billion for his nineteenth birthday. Its garden is planted with irises expected to bloom by Gu Xiao's twentieth birthday, and it contains another, undisclosed gift 17.
- Custom racing suits: Commissioned racing suits for the other three F4 members when he turned eighteen. Gu Xiao's suit features an iris design 38.
Relationships
- Gu Xiao — F4's leader, longtime friend, and the object of Feng Ji's attraction. Feng Ji seeks his attention through gifts, flirtation, and physical closeness, while also urging him to take threats seriously. Gu Xiao tolerates some of his behavior but repeatedly rejects or restrains unwanted contact 3 17 21 33 46.
- Fu Huai — Friend and rival for Gu Xiao's attention. They recognize each other's attraction to him, exchange barbs, and sometimes cooperate over perceived outsiders. Fu Huai exposes Feng Ji's feigned drunkenness and restrains him after the race 13 27 39 44.
- Ji Chuan — Longtime friend and romantic rival. Feng Ji retrieves him from an island for Gu Xiao's birthday, complains about his absences, and becomes intensely jealous when he hugs Gu Xiao 9 24 25.
- Lu Keyan — Initially treats him as a powerless scholarship student and a target for amusement. Feng Ji loses money betting on his resistance, physically assaults him, and later dismisses Ji Chuan's warning that he is difficult to control 3 5 33.
- He Shuyu — Resents his attempts to attract Gu Xiao and criticizes Ji Chuan for allowing him near the group. He recognizes He Shuyu again when the singer performs at T-C 14 17 21.
- Shelley and Hill Aisili — Views the twins as intruders on F4's territory. Races Shelley, loses, and later threatens Hill's safety when Shelley continues provoking him 35 36 37 39.
- Fu Rong — Resents his position as Gu Xiao's fiancé. Urges Gu Xiao to end the engagement and smashes the screen when Fu Rong publicly declares his love and refuses to break it off 43 47.
- Fu Sinian — Strongly opposes his proposed stay with Gu Xiao, fearing that Fu Sinian might desire him even if Gu Xiao has no interest in a beta 44.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Background and the Red-Card Games
- Feng Ji belongs to a circle whose friendships extend back more than a decade. He has previously been hospitalized and reproaches Gu Xiao for never visiting him, contrasting that treatment with Gu Xiao's concern for Lin Qi 17 19.
- During Lu Keyan's punishment, he bets that Lu Keyan will last half a month. After an anonymous bettor wins, he tries to investigate despite the betting rules, retreating when Gu Xiao challenges him 3.
- His kick causes Lu Keyan to fall and grab Gu Xiao's waist, triggering Gu Xiao's retaliation against Lu Keyan 5.
Gu Xiao's Birthday
- Retrieves Ji Chuan from an island for the celebration, then performs the opening dance with Fu Huai at Gu Xiao's instruction. During the dance, the two discuss whether Gu Xiao has noticed their attraction 9 13.
- Gu Xiao seizes his hand during He Shuyu's staged blackout. Feng Ji denies touching him; afterward, he criticizes Gu Xiao for knowingly allowing a potential threat close 15 17.
- Secures Gu Xiao's acceptance of the iris estate, privately hoping the gift will eventually bring Gu Xiao to him 17.
The T-C Outing and Its Aftermath
- Suggests visiting T-C partly to find Ji Chuan. The outing exposes the tension surrounding Ji Chuan's apparent pursuit of He Shuyu 21 22.
- Feigns drunkenness to approach Gu Xiao, then shoves away the omega Fu Huai summons to help him sober up. Gu Xiao catches the omega before he strikes the table and rebukes Feng Ji 26 27.
- After Gu Xiao is attacked outside the venue, presses him to take bodyguards and stop going anywhere alone 33 34.
The Aisili Challenge
- Proposes eliminating the Aisili twins, but Gu Xiao instead chooses to meet them and revokes Lu Keyan's and Murong Xuan's red cards 35.
- Loses his race against Shelley, then accompanies Gu Xiao during the winning rematch. Overwhelmed by excitement afterward, he embraces Gu Xiao until Gu Xiao pushes him away 37 38 39.
Fu Rong's Return
- Tries to persuade Gu Xiao to preemptively end his engagement, only to be confronted with the financial concessions involved 43.
- Reacts violently to Fu Rong's public refusal to dissolve the engagement, but later recognizes that Fu Rong is a genuinely qualified rival for Gu Xiao 47 48.
- At the cafeteria, eagerly follows Gu Xiao to watch an omega confront Ji Chuan, then becomes wary when Gu Xiao shows unexpected interest in the student 50.
Place in the Original Plot
- Gu Xiao's knowledge of the original story identifies Feng Ji as someone who will eventually fight “Gu Xiao” over the omega protagonist, despite his present deference 33.
- In that original trajectory, the protagonist initially mistakes Feng Ji for a good-natured young master. Even after discovering his wrongdoing, the protagonist forgives him when he acts cute and agreeable 26.
- Gu Xiao anticipates that the commoner protagonist will eventually force Feng Ji to confront the idea of equality; this is presented as a future expectation, not a change Feng Ji has already undergone 27.
