Blazing Sun Cage!
After hearing the name, Kong Xuan and Kong Ling both fell into thought.
Clearly, this should be a control-type Soul Skill.
Kong Deming did not keep them in suspense and immediately began introducing the skill's characteristics.
"This Soul Skill raises multiple pillars of light woven from flames and radiance from the ground, trapping the target inside a circular cage."
"The temperature inside the cage is extremely high, continuously damaging the target and restricting their movements."
"The cage lasts for eight seconds. During that time, enemies cannot break out on their own unless they use a powerful offensive Soul Skill to force it open."
As they listened to Kong Deming's explanation, both Kong Xuan and his sister Kong Ling widened their eyes, stunned by the power of this Soul Skill.
"Grandpa, aren't I following the power attack path? Why did you choose a Control System skill for my second Soul Skill?"
Although she was very satisfied with the skill's effects, Kong Ling still voiced her confusion.
Kong Deming glanced back at his granddaughter and said with a smile, "Not every Soul Skill of a Power Attack System Soul Master has to pursue powerful attacks. With control to complement them, you can bring out your strength better. Otherwise, if you only have attack power but can't hit anyone, wouldn't all your efforts be wasted?"
Kong Ling felt that her grandfather had a point, but she still asked, "But I'll have teammates. A normal seven-person team always has a Control System Soul Master."
Kong Deming stopped and turned to look at Kong Ling. "Ling'er, you must remember that no teammate can stay with you for a lifetime."
At Kong Ling's current age, she might not yet understand those words.
But Kong Xuan understood them all too well. Although the most formal Soul Fighting competitions in the Douluo World were held between seven-person teams, in the end, individual strength still mattered.
Just as Kong Deming had said, teammates could not stay together for a lifetime. One's own Soul Skills really did need to be paired carefully.
This also demonstrated the importance of a family with an inherited legacy.
After all, the Soul Skills produced were random. Only through hundreds or thousands of years of accumulated knowledge could great families determine which Soul Beasts would grant their Martial Souls which Soul Skills.
This was also why some of the Soul Skills of Soul Masters in these families were essentially fixed.
"Watch out!"
Kong Deming suddenly turned to look in one direction, clearly having discovered something.
"Soul Beasts are coming. A pack of Silver Wolves."
A pack?
Hearing that description, Kong Xuan immediately asked, "Grandpa, can you determine their numbers and cultivation?"
Kong Deming closed his eyes. As they drew closer, his perception grew increasingly precise.
"Six in total. Four hundred-year ones and two thousand-year ones. The strongest should be around two thousand years old."
"Grandpa, let me handle them!"
The Atlas Spear in Kong Xuan's hand trembled slightly, as though it, too, could hardly wait for a great battle.
Kong Deming's gaze was deep as he glanced toward the wolves. After a moment's consideration, he nodded. "Go. Be careful."
Kong Deming was quite confident in Kong Xuan's strength.
Even though he only had two rings now, handling a two-thousand-year Soul Beast should not be a problem.
As for danger?
With the Class 9 Defensive Soul Tool Kong Deming had given him, there was no possibility of danger at all, not to mention that Kong Deming himself was nearby!
Within the dense forest, the shadows of the trees swayed.
Six pairs of eerie green beast eyes lit up in the shadows. Low wolf howls rose one after another, and dry leaves rustled beneath sharp claws.
The six Silver Wolves had detected the humans' presence, but they could not judge their strength at all, thinking instead that a picnic had delivered itself to their doorstep.
The two sides were not far apart to begin with. Kong Xuan darted through the forest at top speed and soon encountered them.
The six Silver Wolves closed in on Kong Xuan from every direction. This was their hunting instinct as Soul Beasts.
The one leading them was the largest, its entire body silvery white. Its fur seemed like metal, reflecting a brilliant luster beneath the sunlight.
Looking at it, Kong Xuan felt that this should be the one with two thousand years of cultivation. It could be considered the wolf king among these six.
"Roar!"
The wolf king let out an angry roar, as though issuing an order. Then the other five Silver Wolves lunged at Kong Xuan at the same time.
Kong Xuan did not take them lightly. He activated his Spear Intent, his figure weaving through the pack.
The Atlas Spear traced a fierce arc of light, space twisting slightly wherever its tip passed.
A hundred-year Silver Wolf had barely leaped into the air before the Atlas Spear pierced its throat.
Kong Xuan flicked his spear, sending crimson blood splattering from its tip onto the ground. The Atlas Spear remained as clear and translucent as crystal, unstained by even a trace of blood.
With one Silver Wolf slain, the other four attacking Kong Xuan sensed the danger as well and instantly retreated.
Then the fur covering the four Silver Wolves suddenly blazed with light. Almost simultaneously, they opened their mouths and spat silver balls of light at Kong Xuan.
As they were Soul Beasts unique to the Sun Moon Empire, Kong Xuan naturally knew the Silver Wolves' characteristics.
The Silver Wolf was also called the Silver Wolf of the Six Elements because they possessed the six elemental attributes of water, fire, earth, wind, light, and darkness.
They could freely transform the attacks they unleashed into any of these six elements, so there was practically nothing that could counter them, making them extremely difficult to deal with.
But since Kong Xuan dared to come and face these six Silver Wolves alone, he naturally had a way to handle them.
He stood where he was, his first Soul Ring lighting up as the Atlas Spear in his hand thrust forward several times at incredible speed.
Before the silver balls of light attacking Kong Xuan from four directions could reach him and change attributes, they were pierced by Atlas Spears that appeared out of thin air.
That was not all. The Atlas Spears had done more than block those four attacks.
Almost simultaneously, the other three hundred-year Silver Wolves let out whimpering screams.
Kong Xuan's first Soul Skill was already at the thousand-year level. The spatial attribute was inherently elusive, and combined with its powerful space-rending effect, it was simply not something these Hundred-Year Soul Beasts could withstand.
Three blossoms of blood bloomed, and the three hundred-year Silver Wolves fell to the ground, all signs of life gone.
Not far away, seeing four of its "subordinates" die in an instant, the wolf king let out an angry roar as well.
Kong Xuan had thought the wolf king was about to enter the fray. To his surprise, after roaring, it turned straight around and tried to flee with its tail between its legs.
But Kong Xuan naturally would not let it have its way!
Seeing the two thousand-year Silver Wolves turn to flee, Kong Xuan leaped into the air, then hurled the Atlas Spear at the two wolves with all his strength, as though throwing a javelin.
The Atlas Spear became a streak of light, shooting through the dense forest with a whoosh.
Yet it did not strike either Silver Wolf, merely embedding itself between them.
Had Kong Xuan made a mistake?
Of course not. He had done it deliberately.
The second Soul Ring around Kong Xuan instantly lit up, its deep purple radiance exuding a noble yet dangerous presence.
His second Soul Skill, Divine Atlas Spear Formation, activated!
On the other side, a formation fifty meters in diameter took shape around the Atlas Spear embedded in the ground.
Eighteen illusory Atlas Spears stood along the formation's perimeter, surrounding it like a fence.
The two Silver Wolves inside the formation felt their speed plummet in an instant while powerful gravity pressed down on them. Had they not both possessed a thousand years of cultivation, they would likely have been crushed flat on the spot.
Thousand-Year Soul Beasts already possessed a degree of intelligence. At this moment, a trace of fear flashed through the two Silver Wolves' eyes. They knew that if they could not escape this place quickly, only death would await them!
