Kong Deming carries one-quarter of the Sun Moon Empire’s imperial bloodline. His personal standing elevated the Kong Clan, but its small membership and lack of promising younger cultivators left its future dependent on him 6.

Roughly a hundred years before he met Kong Xuan and Kong Ling, a calamity killed or scattered many Kong Clan members. Kong Deming had not yet become a Titled Douluo at the time. He later identified the siblings through a surviving clan jade plaque and believed them to be descendants of relatives who had fled 6.

He never married and had no children or grandchildren of his own. Before taking in the siblings, he spent most of his time researching Soul Tools at the Worship Hall and rarely returned to his nearby home 7.

Xuan Ziwen delivers Fang Sheng’s letter reporting the discovery of Kong Deming’s possible blood relatives. Their shared innate full Soul Power interests him even more than their lineage, and he travels to Shiquan Junior Soul Engineer Academy to meet them 5 6.

After examining their Martial Souls and the Kong Clan jade plaque, he acknowledges them as family and invites them to call him Grandpa. He accompanies them back to Rock Mountain Village before arranging a journey to Mingdu that will not overtax their young bodies 6 7.

Kong Xuan’s explanation that his Soul Ring is God-Given convinces Kong Deming that his grandson may eventually become a god. He promises to remove obstacles from Kong Xuan’s path and increases his protection. Yun Ming later reinforces this misunderstanding by releasing Divine Sense during Kong Xuan’s second-ring breakthrough 8 12.

Reforming Imperial Soul Master Education

Confronted with the limits of the empire’s cultivation knowledge, Kong Deming uses the Worship Hall’s influence to establish broader access to Martial Soul awakening and talent recruitment 9 10.
