Background / History
Ancient Sword Academy and Imprisonment
Qi Junsha was a solitary, proud cultivator whose life largely consisted of fighting and secluded cultivation. Before becoming a Loose Immortal, he had few friends. He also once had a dual-cultivation partner, but they separated because the relationship interfered with their cultivation 82 113 114.
His strength helped establish the Ancient Sword Academy as the second-ranked of Sealed Fate Planet’s seven great sects. After his imprisonment, the academy declined to sixth place and nearly lost its standing among the seven altogether 112.
Qi Junsha’s conflict with the Buddha Sect arose during a struggle over a divine artifact that caused widespread losses without yielding the desired treasure. He killed numerous Buddha Sect members before its experts captured him on another planet, transported him to Tanbang Star, and sealed him in profound ice beneath the Sea of Wronged Souls. He subsequently underwent Liberation by Violence and became a Loose Immortal—a result he deeply resented 78 83 114.
Taking Li Qiang as a Disciple
In the Mystic Suppression Pagoda, Qi Junsha overpowered Li Qiang, Geng Feng, and Tianhong, then announced that Li Qiang would become his founding disciple. Unable to defeat him or escape, Li Qiang negotiated the release of his companions, protection for his friends, and Qi Junsha’s company before performing the discipleship ceremony 76.
Qi Junsha initially forced the relationship on Li Qiang to retaliate for the younger man’s disrespect. His impulsiveness was such that he accepted the ceremony before even asking his disciple’s name. Nevertheless, he honored their agreement and gave Li Qiang the Heavenly Silk Purple Gold Xun as a meeting gift 76 82.
After leaving confinement, Qi Junsha shattered Silver Grass Slope’s defensive formation with a single attack and broke the restrictions preventing departure from Heavenly Melody City. Li Qiang had to intervene when his master began seizing the city’s warriors, reminding him that they were friends 77.
Blackwater Island and the Wild Plains
At Blackwater Island, Qi Junsha broke the illusion concealing the ongoing battle and supported Li Qiang against Qianjie Star cultivators. He collected the refined Nascent Soul spirits used by their enemies while shrugging off Situ Yong’s Soul-Shattering Golden Finger. Li Qiang credited his presence with saving the island and its occupants 81 82.
The reunion introduced Qi Junsha to Li Qiang’s extensive circle of friends and disciples. Accustomed to living alone, he was unexpectedly moved by their welcome and enjoyed being acknowledged as their elder. By this point, his original intention to torment Li Qiang had developed into genuine affection 82.
He later warned Li Qiang that a thousand-year Nascent Soul could tempt cultivators seeking either greater power or material for a formidable Law Treasure. Despite teasing Li Qiang about following him, he did not interfere with the decision to help Mo Huaiyuan become a Loose Immortal. He also agreed to transport the group across the Sea of Wronged Souls using a formation that required no crystal stones 83.
Return to the Ancient Sword Academy
Qi Junsha returned to Sealed Fate Planet during the Ancient Sword Academy’s mountain gate festival. Because his reconstructed body looked different from his former appearance, even academy head Ling Junyan initially failed to recognize him. Once his identity was established, the academy welcomed him with formal honors, and news of his return spread across the planet 112 113.
Although his Loose Immortal status placed him beyond ordinary sect affairs, he remained attached to the academy and wanted to reverse its decline. He encouraged its leaders to consult Li Qiang, gave his disciple a Jade Pupil Slip containing miscellaneous arts, and settled into seclusion at the Encircling Sword Pavilion 113 114.
Guiding Li Qiang into God Cultivation
After meeting Mo Huaiyuan, Qi Junsha deciphered the Jade Pupil Slip containing the Heavenly Recommendation Scripture for God Cultivation. Faced with the danger posed by an immortal pursuing the Heaven-Defying Treasure Mirror, the two Loose Immortals prepared Li Qiang to cultivate the scripture 128.
Qi Junsha and Mo Huaiyuan supplied immortal spiritual Qi as Li Qiang’s body was transformed and his divine spirit formed. Qi Junsha hoped that, once Li Qiang became strong enough to evade the immortal, they could safely proceed with their own reincarnations 129.
During the confrontation with the Great Flame Spirit Beast, Qi Junsha used Immortal-Gathering Thunder against it. After Li Qiang disappeared with the immortals, Qi Junsha and Mo Huaiyuan waited on Sealed Fate Planet for several years before setting out to find him 132 163.
Lesser Lin Heaven and Reincarnation Preparations
Reunited with Li Qiang, Qi Junsha traveled with the group to Lesser Lin Heaven. During the battle with Devil Venerable Chiming, he suffered a heavy blow and was lured into the suction of a Swift Boiling Current. Li Qiang distracted Chiming while Mei’er pulled Qi Junsha clear 164 167.
Qi Junsha retaliated by sacrificing a treasure against Chiming, only to learn that the attack had destroyed an external incarnation rather than Chiming himself 168.
At the Illusory God Hall, Li Qiang obtained Gu Xing’s agreement to assist Qi Junsha, Mo Huaiyuan, and Old Xian with reincarnation. Qi Junsha helped occupy the guardian beasts while Li Qiang and Xuan Long gathered divine treasures. Gu Xing later tied his assistance for Qi Junsha and Mo Huaiyuan to Li Qiang taking responsibility for Chiming 170 171.
Qi Junsha subsequently left Li Qiang a Jade Pupil Slip bearing the brief warning, “Be careful!” 204.
Captivity in Xinbo Cape
Qi Junsha and Mo Huaiyuan became trapped in Xinbo Cape, prompting Li Qiang to organize a rescue. Mist Star Cold Woman admitted imprisoning them after they woke and attacked her, then forcing them down into the Mystic Qi 224 246.
Li Qiang found them pinned to an ice wall by strands of Yinlong Mystic Qi. They had been unable to decipher the ancient immortal’s restrictions and had resorted to slowly absorbing the Qi binding them. Li Qiang broke the restraints directly, revealing how far his strength had surpassed theirs 249.
The experience severely damaged Qi Junsha’s confidence. Once convinced that Loose Immortals stood near the pinnacle of the realm, he now wanted to reincarnate and seek an ancient immortal cultivation method. Despite cursing Mist Star Cold Woman, he openly acknowledged her overwhelming ability 249 250.
When Li Qiang accidentally took an Adversity-Crossing Divine Pill, Qi Junsha and Mo Huaiyuan cultivated to absorb some of the escaping power. The group also obtained Soul Crossing Liquid, which could protect Divine Sense during reincarnation, and Mystic Ice Hearts suitable for refining weapons 250.
Li Qiang eventually used Mortal-Breaking Ultimate to escape the collapsing Extremely Profound Ice Eye with both men. Following their rescue, Qi Junsha and Mo Huaiyuan agreed to cultivate at Rong Chenya’s residence 252 256.
Reincarnation on Earth
After their reincarnation, Li Qiang arranged an extensive search for Qi Junsha and Mo Huaiyuan. He personally searched Earth’s cities for three years before receiving a promising lead in Sea City 275 289.
The two had been reborn as brothers and were living as beggars beneath an abandoned overpass. Their spiritual intelligence remained sealed. Li Qiang identified them through their marks, brought them to Zhao Hao’s villa, and cared for them for six months before successfully awakening their memories 290.
Qi Junsha recovered more quickly than Mo Huaiyuan but was deeply shaken by the contrast between his former life and his new identity as “Second Fool.” Li Qiang assured him that he still acknowledged him as his master, even as a mortal. Qi Junsha instead embraced a fresh beginning, accepted being addressed as Second Brother Qi, and proposed returning with Mo Huaiyuan to cultivate under the Ancient Sword Academy’s protection 290 291.
Appearance
- Loose Immortal body: An exceptionally handsome youth with fair, tender hands, despite consistently referring to himself as an old man. He reconstructed his body upon becoming a Loose Immortal 76 113.
- Clothing: Particular about fabric and workmanship. At Heavenly Melody City, he favored a silver embroidered tunic and trousers enough to request two additional sets 77.
- Unwanted youthfulness: His appearance repeatedly caused others to address him as a “little brother.” By the gathering at Coolness Hall, he was dissatisfied with it; he had not yet experienced a heavenly tribulation, after which he could have altered his features slightly 112 254.
- Reincarnated identity: Found living as a beggar on Earth, with identifying marks on his wrists 290.
Personality
Qi Junsha is eccentric, proud, impatient, and fond of practical jokes. He enjoys verbal contests, especially with Li Qiang, and readily accepts flattery while understanding exactly what his disciple is doing. His threatening behavior can also be theatrical: at Black Islet Reef, he frightened Li Qiang and Geng Feng into thinking he might kill ordinary troublemakers, then revealed that he had been teasing them 76 79 114.
Becoming a Loose Immortal changed his temperament. Formerly aloof and difficult to approach, he acquired a youthful, playful disposition and became openly delighted by attention from juniors. He later admitted that even he did not understand the change and hoped reincarnation would restore his former Old Freak Daoist personality 80 82 113 251.
His generosity contrasts with his sinister reputation. He freely gives protective treasures, improves juniors’ cultivation, and becomes deeply attached to Li Qiang. He also protects weaker companions by keeping them out of battles beyond their ability, as when he orders Geng Feng away from the impending confrontation on Heavenly Court Star 77 80 81 131.
His pride remains vulnerable to powerlessness. Mist Star Cold Woman’s superiority leaves him frustrated and self-critical, while being treated respectfully by Li Qiang among far stronger seniors moves him deeply. Despite the formal master-disciple relationship, he privately regards Li Qiang as a brother 249 250 255.
