Wen Ning only stopped when the police arrived!
She tossed her long hair over her shoulder, blew at the stray strands still hanging over her eyes, and sneered. "Do your homework before you kidnap someone next time. Your great-grandma here is the Wen family's eldest daughter. I'd have to think twice even about letting Bo Xubai be my grandson. Him? He thinks he's worthy of being my man?!"
The musclehead, who had been desperately struggling to open his blackened eyes, heard this and rolled his eyes back, passing out from sheer fury at Wen Ning.
Actually, the men had noticed something was off about Bo Yan when they fought him.
They all knew that old bastard Bo Yurong had a son he doted on, and they had found out his name, too. But as far as they knew, however well Bo Xubai could fight, he wouldn't fight like the kid before them. This kid fought as if he didn't care whether he lived!
The musclehead had almost thought he would die in this godforsaken place tonight. Now, hearing the police sirens outside, he and his lackeys nearly wept!
Officer, you've finally come! Someone escaped from the mental hospital here! He nearly beat us to death just now, officer! You have to get us justice!
Of course, the officers paid no attention to their agonized wails. They handcuffed them one by one and shoved each of them into a police car.
Wen Jing had arrived with the police, along with Mr. and Mrs. Wen and Tian Xin.
Seeing his sister looking a complete mess, Wen Jing let out a wail and threw himself at her.
Tian Xin hurried over with reddened eyes and hugged her, too.
"You scared me to death!" Tian Xin said tearfully.
With two people suddenly crashing into her arms, Wen Ning lost her footing and stumbled backward.
Bo Yan, who had already composed himself and was silently watching it all, quickly pressed his palm against Wen Ning's back.
Then he noticed Wen Ning's brows draw tightly together.
"What's wrong?" he asked, looking down at her.
While soothing Wen Jing, who was howling like a ghost in her arms, Wen Ning pointed at her foot and mouthed to Bo Yan, I think I twisted it.
Bo Yan pressed his lips together.
Nearby, Mr. and Mrs. Wen hadn't thrown themselves at her in an outpouring of emotion like Wen Jing and Tian Xin, but they, too, felt as though they had survived a catastrophe, and their tears flowed uncontrollably.
Only after they had more or less finished crying did a female officer approach. "We may need you to come back with us to give statements."
Wen Ning readily cooperated. "No problem."
Bo Yan said nothing, his gaze fixed on Wen Ning.
The officer didn't ask the gloomy-looking man anything further. One look told her he listened to his wife. If his wife agreed to cooperate, that settled it.
"That's enough, you brat. It's one thing not to comfort your sister, but you're making her comfort you instead? You're turning heaven and earth upside down, you brat. Let go!" Seeing Wen Jing still clinging to his sister, Mrs. Wen came over and slapped him on the back of the head.
The slap made Wen Jing yelp and squeal.
Wen Ning's eyes had reddened, too, but at the sight, she immediately broke into a smile through her tears.
When she smiled, everyone else started laughing, too.
Even Bo Yan's lips curled up briefly, only for his expression to darken again almost immediately.
I should have broken both of that musclehead's hands for pulling her hair!
As he was thinking this, warmth suddenly filled his palm.
Bo Yan froze for a moment and looked down at the hand holding his.
It was so soft, as though it had no bones.
An untimely blush crept over the tips of his ears. Keeping his face expressionless, he looked up at the person holding his hand, his eyes asking her, Need something?
Wen Ning swung his hand in hers, her tone almost wheedling. "Honey, my foot hurts."
The redness in Bo Yan's ears instantly flared, spreading across much of his neck.
He lowered his head to hide his disordered emotions and said quickly, his tone cold, "Troublesome."
The corner of Wen Ning's mouth twitched. She really wanted to smack this bastard!
But the next second, Bo Yan turned his back to her and lowered himself into a crouch with one knee on the ground.
He hadn't shaken off the hand holding his.
Bo Yan let her keep holding his hand. Once he had crouched down, he gave her hand a gentle tug and said, "Get on, you little troublemaker."
