  • Minato sealed Naruto’s Tailed Beast Bomb away before it could hit Sasuke’s Susanoo, and Shinsei ended the training.
  • Naruto’s Nine-Tails chakra receded, and his damaged skin regenerated as Kushina, Minato, and Jiraiya gathered around him.
  • Sasuke dispelled Susanoo, and Shinsei teased him about being jealous of Naruto’s family and starting a family of his own.

Ch. 182Hanabi Hyuga

Shinsei accompanied Hinata to the Hyuga compound to discuss her fear that Hanabi would be branded with the Caged Bird Seal. After Hiashi welcomed them, Shinsei asked directly whether he intended to place the seal on Hanabi.

  • Hinata explained the Hyuga Main and Branch Family system and why she feared her younger sister would receive the Caged Bird Seal.
  • A Branch Family guard stopped Shinsei at the compound gate, but Shinsei waited rather than make trouble for him.
  • Hyuga Hiashi arrived, apologized to Shinsei, and punished the guard until Shinsei asked him to stop.
  • Shinsei, Hinata, Hiashi, and Hanabi gathered in a room to discuss the matter.
  • Shinsei asked Hiashi whether he intended to brand Hanabi with the Caged Bird Seal.

Ch. 183Taking a disciple

Shinsei agreed to reserve a place for Hanabi Hyuga as his disciple, giving Hyuga Hiashi a way to protect her from the Caged Bird Seal. The next morning, Shinsei visited Deidara in Konoha’s interrogation facility, where Ibiki Morino prepared to continue questioning him.

  • Hyuga Hiashi explained why he could not exempt Hanabi from the Caged Bird Seal and proposed that Shinsei take her as a disciple.
  • Shinsei agreed to reserve Hanabi a place among his disciples, and Hanabi greeted him as her teacher.

  • The next morning, Shinsei visited Deidara with Ibiki Morino, and Deidara angrily demanded to be released.

Ch. 184I won't wear that kind of green bodysuit

Shinsei considered how to use the captured Hidan and brought Sasuke to him, hoping Sasuke could alter Hidan’s personality. Sasuke refused Shinsei’s plan to have him train with Might Guy because he would not wear Guy’s green bodysuit.

  • Shinsei stopped Ibiki Morino from torturing Sara further, since the interrogation had already yielded information about the Akatsuki and Deidara's Clay Bombs.
  • Shinsei had a nearby ninja tape Deidara's mouth shut, then went to see the captured Hidan, who complained that his limbs had been chained apart.
  • Shinsei found Sasuke Uchiha on guard duty and used Flying Thunder God to bring him to Hidan's room.
  • Shinsei asked Sasuke to use Kamimusubi to change Hidan into Might Guy, but Sasuke said he did not know Might Guy well enough.
  • Shinsei proposed that Sasuke train with Might Guy for a few days, and Sasuke refused because he would not wear that kind of green bodysuit.

Ch. 185Let youth burn

Shinsei and Sasuke joined Might Guy and Rock Lee for an exuberant training run around Konoha, disguising themselves in masks and green bodysuits. Their run gathered Neji and Tenten, and Naruto recognized Sasuke as the group passed him.

  • Shinsei persuaded Sasuke to learn the Eight Gates Released Formation from Might Guy, promising to teach him Sage Mode in return.
  • Might Guy made Shinsei and Sasuke wear green bodysuits before starting their training with five hundred laps around Konoha.
  • Shinsei and Sasuke covered their hair and faces to avoid being recognized as they ran with Might Guy and Rock Lee.
  • Might Guy recruited Neji and Tenten into the run, and Neji identified the masked pair as Sasuke Uchiha and Shinsei.
  • Naruto spotted the runners, caught up beside Sasuke, and pointed at his nose as he called out to him.

Ch. 186Morning Peacock

Shinsei joined Might Guy’s training with Naruto and Sasuke, then used Sage Mode and Storm Release to learn Morning Peacock. He mastered a basic version of the move and planned to improve it, hoping to study the Raikage’s Lightning Release Chakra Mode at the upcoming Five Kage Summit.

  • Naruto recognized Sasuke despite his disguise, and Shinsei persuaded Naruto to join their secret training.
  • Might Guy led the group through intense exercise, and Shinsei, Sasuke, Naruto, Rock Lee, and Guy completed the training.
  • Might Guy explained the Eight Gates techniques, while Shinsei decided to adapt Morning Peacock rather than train in the Eight Gates Released Formation.
  • Shinsei combined Sage Mode and Storm Release to increase his speed, then practiced Morning Peacock under Might Guy’s instruction.
  • Shinsei ignited the air with his punch and mastered a basic Morning Peacock, then resolved to seek a spar with the Raikage at the Five Kage Summit.

Ch. 187Please call me Hidan, hero of Konoha

Shinsei and Sasuke used Sasuke’s Sharingan ability to restore Hidan’s memories, revealing that Hidan had been sent on a secret mission by the Third Hokage and had forgotten his ties to Konoha. Hidan remembered Shinsei as his friend and welcomed rival, and Shinsei welcomed him back to Konoha.

  • Naruto and Sasuke agreed to continue Might Guy’s punishing training, but Shinsei told them it was a joke and said they had better paths to power.
  • Minato invited Naruto, Sasuke, and Shinsei to dinner, but Shinsei declined and returned with Sasuke to the Interrogation Department.
  • Shinsei had the ninja reassemble Hidan, and Sasuke activated Kamimusubi, causing Hidan to scream as unfamiliar memories filled his mind.
  • Hidan remembered his childhood friendship with Shinsei, his Taijutsu training, and the mission the Third Hokage had given him in the Land of Hot Water.
  • Hidan remembered joining the Akatsuki after losing his memories, then tearfully told Shinsei that he remembered everything.
  • Shinsei welcomed Hidan back to Konoha.

Ch. 188Restoring his identity

Shinsei restored Hidan’s memories and brought him to Tsunade to have his Konoha identity reinstated. After Hidan left with a Shadow Clone, Tsunade confronted Shinsei for his scheme.

  • Shinsei removed Hidan’s shackles, and Hidan embraced him after believing his memories had returned.
  • Hidan offered to plead for Deidara’s release, while Shinsei considered trading Deidara to the Tsuchikage for the Light-Weight Rock Technique.
  • Shinsei brought Hidan to Tsunade, who agreed to restore his identity after hearing that he had completed a secret mission.
  • Shinsei sent a Shadow Clone to arrange Hidan’s lodging, and Tsunade grabbed Shinsei and threatened him for playing with fire.

Ch. 189Hidan's Eight Gates Released Formation

Tsunade gave Shinsei a sealing technique to protect his brain from Chakra-based interference, and he learned it before checking on Hidan. Shinsei tested whether Hidan could use the Eight Gates Released Formation, but Hidan could open only its first two gates and agreed to train again.

  • Shinsei explained how Sasuke's Kamimusubi implanted memories, and Tsunade gave him a sealing technique to protect his brain from Chakra invasion.
  • Shinsei learned the sealing technique overnight and went to Hidan's residence, where he found Hidan running with Might Guy and Rock Lee.
  • Shinsei took Hidan to register as a ninja and collect his equipment, then used Flying Thunder God to bring him to a forest for a test.
  • Hidan opened the Gate of Opening and the Gate of Healing but failed to open the Gate of Life.
  • Shinsei told Hidan to practice the Eight Gates Released Formation again, and Hidan eagerly agreed.

Ch. 190Kamui

Shinsei prepared Hidan to recover the Eight Gates Released Formation, then traveled with Tsunade, Sasuke, and Hinata toward the Five Kage Summit with Deidara as their prisoner. Obito appeared to take Deidara, but Shinsei and the others confronted him before Obito escaped, leaving them to discuss his Mangekyō ability.

  • Shinsei sealed Hidan’s memories to protect them and returned him to Might Guy’s team to train in recovering the Eight Gates Released Formation.
  • Tsunade set out for the Land of Iron with Shinsei, Sasuke, Hinata, and the bound Deidara.
  • Obito appeared beside Deidara in the mist and tried to take him, but Shinsei marked him with Flying Thunder God and attacked.
  • Tsunade, Sasuke, Hinata, and Shinsei surrounded Obito, who introduced himself as Tobi and made himself intangible to their attacks.
  • Obito used a powerful repulsive force to escape into the ground, but Shinsei rescued Deidara before he could be taken.
  • Shinsei told Sasuke that Obito’s ability to ignore damage was likely a Mangekyō ability, prompting Tsunade to look over Sasuke.

Ch. 191Kurotsuchi and Ōnoki

Tsunade’s group arrived in the Land of Iron, where Ōnoki demanded that Shinsei return Deidara. Shinsei refused to surrender his prisoner without compensation and asked for the Light-Weight Rock Technique, leaving the exchange negotiations open.

  • Mifune welcomed Tsunade and her group to the Land of Iron and assigned them rooms.
  • Ōnoki arrived with Akatsuchi and Kurotsuchi and demanded that Tsunade return Deidara.
  • Deidara refused to go back with Ōnoki, while Shinsei insisted that Deidara was his prisoner and demanded a price for his return.
  • Shinsei threatened to take Kurotsuchi as another bargaining chip if Iwagakure started a war, and Deidara reunited awkwardly with her.
  • Ōnoki refused to compromise, but Kurotsuchi asked Shinsei what he wanted, and he requested the Light-Weight Rock Technique.

Ch. 192Enemy attack

Ōnoki refused Shinsei’s offer to trade Deidara for Iwagakure’s Light-Weight Rock Technique and left with his party. After resting and training, Shinsei meditated in his room until Hinata burst through the wall and attacked a corner with Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm.

  • Ōnoki rejected Shinsei’s proposed exchange, then departed with Akatsuchi and Kurotsuchi, leaving Deidara in Konoha’s custody.
  • Shinsei reflected that Deidara was a powerful fighter whose repeated defeats had come from opponents who countered him.
  • Tsunade trained her three disciples in gambling after the Konoha group returned to their rooms.
  • Tsunade considered how Konoha’s strength and the prospect of limited casualties changed her view of war and unifying the Shinobi World.
  • Shinsei cultivated qi in his room and estimated that his chakra reserves exceeded seventy times Kakashi’s former amount.
  • Hinata smashed through Shinsei’s wall with her Byakugan active and struck a corner with Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm.

Ch. 193Light-Weight Rock Technique

Shinsei stopped Ōnoki from abducting Deidara and took the Light-Weight Rock Technique scroll. After Deidara escaped, Tsunade told Shinsei to treat the scroll as spoils of war and uphold Konoha’s standards, while Shinsei concluded he would need to study Earth Release to master it.

  • Shinsei used his Sharingan and Heavenly Foot of Pain to interrupt Ōnoki, who had disguised himself as an earth clone while trying to take Deidara.
  • Shinsei found the Light-Weight Rock Technique scroll among the clone’s remains and woke Deidara, then removed the sealing runes restricting his chakra.
  • Deidara escaped on a giant clay dragon, taunted Shinsei from above, and flew away without attacking.
  • Tsunade told Shinsei to keep the scroll for himself, not share it, and avoid Danzo’s methods if he hoped to become Hokage.
  • Shinsei studied the scroll and determined that the technique required exceptional chakra control and Earth Release understanding, so he resolved to begin practicing Earth Release.

Ch. 194Dust Release

At the Five Kage Summit, Shinsei clashed verbally with the Raikage as the leaders argued over the Akatsuki and Yugito’s capture. The Raikage charged Deidara, and Ōnoki rose into the air with him and aimed Dust Release at the Raikage.

  • Shinsei entered the summit hall with the Konoha party and greeted Deidara, who stood beside Ōnoki.
  • The Raikage accused Shinsei of insulting him, and Shinsei challenged his strength; Killer B rapped about their argument until the Raikage punched him.
  • Mifune reminded the Kage that they had gathered to confront the Akatsuki and rescue Yugito, calming the Raikage.
  • The Raikage demanded that Ōnoki explain Deidara’s presence and threatened to send Kumogakure’s army to the Land of Earth if Yugito was not returned.
  • Deidara declared that Yugito would not return, so the Raikage charged at him; Akatsuchi raised an earthen wall, and Ōnoki carried Deidara aloft and formed a Dust Release attack.

Ch. 195Rapid Response Force

At the Five Kage Summit, Tsunade proposed a Rapid Response Force to rescue the Two-Tails Jinchūriki and fight the Akatsuki, over the Raikage’s call for a full Allied Shinobi Forces. The Kage debated who should lead the force, and the chapter ended with the Raikage nominating Killer B and Tsunade nominating Shinsei as captain.

  • Mifune stopped Ōnoki and the Raikage from fighting and urged the Kage to discuss how to deal with the Akatsuki.
  • Tsunade proposed that each village contribute elite shinobi to a Rapid Response Force, and Mei Terumi and Chiyo supported her.
  • The Raikage called for forming the Allied Shinobi Forces, but Tsunade and Mei argued ordinary shinobi could not withstand Pain’s techniques.
  • Ōnoki supported forming the Rapid Response Force and asked who would lead it, while Shinsei suggested choosing a new commander through combat.
  • Killer B volunteered to fight the Akatsuki, and the Raikage nominated him to lead the force.
  • Tsunade nominated her disciple Shinsei as captain of the Rapid Response Force.

Ch. 196Perfect Jinchuriki

Shinsei entered Sage Mode to compete against Killer B and Akatsuchi for command of the Rapid Response Force, then challenged them both at once. After overpowering them in close combat, he faced Killer B as the Eight-Tails' chakra emerged.

  • The Kage selected Shinsei, Akatsuchi, and Killer B as candidates for command of the Rapid Response Force, and the group moved outside to fight.
  • Shinsei used a meditating Shadow Clone to enter Sage Mode and told Killer B and Akatsuchi to attack him together.
  • Shinsei's punch sent Killer B flying, while his Shadow Clone smashed through Akatsuchi's earth walls.
  • Shinsei used his Sharingan and superior strength to grab and throw several of Killer B's swords.
  • Killer B retreated and released the Eight-Tails' chakra, preparing to show Shinsei the strength of a Perfect Jinchuriki.

Ch. 197Battling the Eight-Tails

Shinsei overwhelmed Killer B in their initial clash and challenged him to unleash the Eight-Tails. After Killer B transformed, Shinsei matched the beast’s attacks with immense strength and began dragging it across the field, leaving their contest unresolved.

  • Shinsei disarmed and threw Killer B aside, then taunted him into using the Eight-Tails’ full power.
  • Killer B communicated with the Eight-Tails and transformed into the ox-headed, octopus-bodied beast.
  • The Eight-Tails attacked Shinsei with its tentacles, but Shinsei caught and bundled all eight tails.
  • Shinsei and the Eight-Tails began a tug-of-war, and Shinsei steadily dragged the beast toward himself.

Ch. 198Tailed Beast Eight Twists

Shinsei overpowered Eight-Tails, then stopped his dangerous attack and clashed with the beast’s spinning technique until the Raikage intervened. The Raikage accepted Shinsei as captain of the Rapid Response Force, and the Tsuchikage conceded Konoha’s victory.

  • Shinsei used his strength to hurl Eight-Tails around and overpower him in a direct clash.
  • Eight-Tails began forming a Tailed Beast Bomb, but Shinsei struck him beneath the chin and sent the energy blast skyward.
  • Eight-Tails wrapped himself in his tentacles and spun, while Shinsei formed a massive chakra sword and swung it at him.
  • The Raikage blocked Shinsei’s attack and ordered Killer B to stop; Shinsei’s sword still injured Eight-Tails, and Shinsei stored a severed tentacle in a scroll.
  • The Raikage accepted Shinsei as captain of the Rapid Response Force, and the Tsuchikage declared Konoha the winner.

Ch. 199White Zetsu attacks

The Five Kage’s force advanced toward Amegakure to rescue Yugito, but White Zetsu ambushed them with his Spore Technique and drained most of their chakra. The chapter ended as Killer B threw a pencil at White Zetsu.

  • The Raikage chose Shinsei as captain of the Rapid Response Force, and Killer B accepted Shinsei as a teammate in a rap.
  • The Raikage led the group toward Amegakure to rescue Yugito, and Darui proposed an attack route on the map.
  • Shinsei asked about the Raikage’s familiarity with Amegakure, and the Raikage revealed a scar from a previous failed attempt to confront Pain.
  • Hinata detected White Zetsu underground and struck the ground to expose him, after which the Raikage grabbed him and demanded to know where Yugito was being held.
  • White Zetsu’s spores infected the group and drained their chakra, but Shinsei, Tsunade, and Killer B resisted most of the effect.
  • Killer B finished a rap about the ambush and threw his pencil at White Zetsu.

Ch. 200The mask

Obito Uchiha confronted the Five Kage and revealed that Iwagakure’s Four-Tails and Five-Tails had been captured. Shinsei’s attack damaged Obito’s mask, and Obito retaliated against Ōnoki with Shinra Tensei.

  • Obito Uchiha appeared before the Raikage, who demanded Yugito’s return and offered to bargain to save her.
  • Ōnoki objected to the Raikage negotiating with the enemy, and Obito Uchiha announced that Iwagakure’s Four-Tails and Five-Tails had been captured.
  • Ōnoki attacked Obito Uchiha with a technique that erased everything inside a contracting cuboid, but Obito escaped through a tree.
  • Shinsei launched Storm Release: Severing Wave at Obito Uchiha, who turned intangible as the attack sliced through his mask and the trees behind him.
  • Ōnoki mocked Obito Uchiha’s scarred face, and Obito extended his right hand toward Ōnoki and used Shinra Tensei.
