Hongshi joined Team 7, shaped the Land of Waves conflict, and formed Team 13 before the Chunin Exams brought him face-to-face with Orochimaru. The exams continued after Hongshi protected Team 7 and taught them to control their cursed seals, while the others headed for the tower and his real body slept.
Hongshi and his allies fought through the Land of Snow conflict, returned to Konoha, and prepared for the Chunin Exams as Orochimaru’s invasion unfolded. Sakura developed Wood Release and helped stop Gaara, but Orochimaru trapped Hiruzen, Hongshi, and Neji inside the Four Violet Flames Formation and began an Impure World Reincarnation.
Hongshi stopped Orochimaru’s invasion, drew Itachi into his plans, and helped establish the Nuclear Ninja Village while the Akatsuki began pursuing Naruto. The arc left Naruto with Hinata in Women Town as Hongshi struggled to pay for buns, while Jiraiya and Tsunade’s paths toward a reunion remained ahead.
Tsunade accepted the role of Fifth Hokage as Konoha faced threats from Orochimaru and the conflict over Kusagakure. Sasuke left for Otogakure, while Konoha prepared a major assault and Hongshi set out with his own team.
Hongshi helped Konoha pursue Sasuke, defeat Otogakure’s forces, and awaken Naruto and Gyokucha’s Adamantine Sealing Chains. The story then shifted to the Land of Rivers, where Sakura and her team dealt with Raiga Kurosuki while Kairyū’s group began organizing a ninja village and reconciling the miners with the Kurosuki Clan.
The Nuclear Ninja Village’s forces uncovered Mizuki’s Beast Seal Transformation plot while securing the Land of Rivers and developing Sage Mode. When an Armored Army attacked Sunagakure, Kyōai and his allies answered the call, but Kyōai and Rock Lee ended the stretch trading blows after mistaking each other for monsters.
The Nuclear Ninja Village and Sunagakure confronted Haidō’s Gelel forces, then Temari, Shino, Hōryūsai, and Hongshi investigated Hoshigakure’s star and the bounty against the Sand Ninja. The mission exposed Akahoshi’s crimes and a Stone Ninja plot, while a clash with Ōnoki’s group revealed Orochimaru’s plan to destroy Konoha.
Kyōai and his allies defeated Mizuki’s beastmen assault with the help of Gundams and an antidote, then founded the Blade Ninja Village. The restored rebels accepted the village’s supervision, while Chinchiku led artisans to rebuild Yamakawa Castle.
Hongshi’s team secured the Land of the Moon as a Konoha ally, while Ainz mastered Senjutsu from Shikkotsu Forest and Ryūchi Cave. The group then set out for the Land of Hot Water to unite its clans against the growing Jashin Cult.
