Background / History
Adoption and upbringing
After Lu Chi disappeared, Lu Yuanqing and Pan Feng brought Lu Jiyang into the family as their adopted son. The marriage agreement originally intended for Lu Chi and Su Yunian subsequently became an engagement between Jiyang and Yunian 45.
Jiyang grew up closely attached to his adoptive parents and five older sisters. Before Lu Chi returned, his parents considered him obedient, considerate, academically outstanding, and respectful toward teachers. This longstanding reputation made them reluctant to believe accusations against him 2 17.
Previous life and rebirth
In his previous life, Jiyang repeatedly framed the original Lu Chi, turning their parents and sisters against him. Less than a year after Lu Chi returned, one accusation resulted in Lu Yuanqing beating him and forcing him to kneel outside during torrential rain. When Lu Chi developed a neglected fever, Jiyang lured him away, murdered him, and staged his death as suicide by hanging 1 36.
Jiyang secured inheritance rights to the Lu family's assets, but Zhang Yong—who had married Lu Sangning—later plotted against him. After enjoying his success for only a few years, Jiyang was dismembered in a foreign country, and the family's wealth ultimately passed to Zhang Yong 24.
Reborn with memories of those events, Jiyang again seeks the Lu fortune. His priorities are to eliminate Lu Chi as an inheritance rival, prevent Sangning from marrying Zhang Yong, and eventually kill Zhang Yong once his own control of the money is secure 24.
Appearance
Jiyang has handsome features and fair skin. His first appearance presents him as a neatly dressed, well-behaved young master, concealing his hostility toward Lu Chi 3.
- Initial clothing: White shirt, gray vest, gray casual dress trousers, and black leather shoes 3.
- Height discrepancy: His introduction places him at approximately 175 centimeters, while a later fight describes both him and Lu Chi as over 1.8 meters tall 3 24.
- Build: Less robust than Lu Chi; his pampered upbringing leaves him physically outmatched in their fight 24.
Personality
Jiyang carefully maintains a courteous, affectionate, and slightly delicate public persona. He flatters his sisters, performs concern for their health, and presents himself as someone who needs their protection. When confronted with evidence of wrongdoing, he cries and claims he only acted because he feared losing his parents' love 10 17 29 46.
Privately, he is possessive of the Lu family's wealth and intensely jealous of Lu Chi's biological status. He interprets money, gifts, and even differences between their cars as signs that he is being displaced. Being called the “fake young master” is a particular trigger for his anger 10 23 37.
His rebirth reinforces his belief that he is Heaven's favored child and entitled to defeat anyone obstructing him. His affection is conditional: when Sangning refuses to support him, he privately threatens future retaliation. Auntie Wang also recalls him hitting and cursing servants, as well as trying to defile her young grandson 17 25 29 39.
Abilities & Skills
Previous-Life Memories
Jiyang retains knowledge of his former life, including Lu Chi's earlier behavior, Zhang Yong's betrayal, and the absence of surveillance cameras in the Lu mansion 24.
- Uses this knowledge to identify threats to his inheritance 24.
- Initially assumes Lu Chi will remain the submissive, easily manipulated person he remembers 24.
- Briefly suspects Lu Chi might also have been reborn when his concealed phone is exposed, but rejects the possibility 17.
Deception and Emotional Manipulation
Jiyang uses apparent vulnerability to redirect blame and preserve family support 6 29 46.
- Victim-playing: Cries, apologizes, and invokes fear of abandonment after his schemes are exposed 10 17.
- Backhanded sympathy: Attributes Lu Chi's supposed lack of manners to poverty and inadequate upbringing while pretending to defend him 8 37.
- Calculated affection: Uses gifts, flattery, and protective gestures to win his sisters' favor 29 35.
- Limitations: Recorded conversations repeatedly undermine his denials, and Sangning eventually stops responding to his usual performance 9 25 39.
Academic and Musical Ability
- Academics: Described as having grades among the best before Lu Chi's return 2.
- Singing: Performs “If You Can Come” as contestant number 8 on The Voice of Huaxia and advances to the next round 44.

- Recruits Qiu Yugang, He Xing, and Zhang Da to make trouble for Lu Chi 16 17.
- Uses money to recruit others, including Li Bingqing, for schemes against his rival 27 29.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Attempt to Discredit Lu Chi's Return
- Promises Scarface 500,000 to portray Lu Chi as a gambler burdened with debts before the family brings him home 2 9.
- Greets Lu Chi with an affectionate embrace while privately viewing him as a rival for the family fortune. Lu Chi counters by staging a fall and accusing Jiyang of pushing him 3.
- Plans to spill juice on himself and blame Lu Chi at the welcome dinner. Lu Chi avoids the setup by claiming a potentially fatal juice allergy 5.
- Transfers five million to Lu Chi after offering brotherly assistance, intending to lower his guard. Lu Chi later characterizes the payment as hush money 7 9.
- Is exposed when Lu Yuanqing plays Scarface's recording of their arrangement. His father beats him with a rod, then softens after Jiyang claims he feared being abandoned 9 10.
School Bullying and Loss of Allowance
- Arranges for students to bully Lu Chi, but the students identify him when their families face pressure from Lu Yuanqing and Pan Feng 16.
- Attempts to conceal his phone and then reach a restroom to delete evidence. His WeChat history confirms both his instructions and his insults toward Lu Chi 17.
- Later attacks Lu Chi after being slapped and provoked at home. Lu Chi overpowers him while pretending to beg for mercy, records his threats, and stages visible injuries before their father arrives 23 24.
- Loses his allowance, cards, and money after Lu Chi plays the recording. Lu Yuanqing makes their restoration conditional on Jiyang recognizing his mistakes 25.
Li Bingqing Scheme and Family Favoritism
- Pays Li Bingqing to make Lu Chi fall in love with her and neglect his college entrance examinations. The 400,000 used for the scheme comes from money Lu Yunke secretly gives him after his allowance is cut 27 29.
- Gives Lu Qingru a cheap pink watch and emphasizes his supposed concern for her health, winning her sympathy and a promise of protection 29 30.
- Claims the missing 400,000 went toward miscellaneous purchases, school supplies, and meals for classmates when Yunke questions him 30.
- Believes his romantic trap is succeeding when Lu Chi and Li Bingqing deliberately act close in front of his classroom 37.
- Pretends he will leave the family during another argument, but abandons the threat after Sangning refuses to indulge his victim-playing 38 39.
Singing Competition and Continuing Rivalry
- Attacks Zhang Yong during his confrontation with Sangning, earning her thanks and treating the incident as a victory over Lu Chi 35.
- Accepts Qingru's offer to enter a singing competition and invites Lu Chi to compete. Both brothers advance on The Voice of Huaxia 35 44.
- Dismisses Lu Chi's success as luck. When Lu Chi urgently leaves to rescue the kidnapped Sangning, Jiyang follows him to continue the mockery, unaware of the emergency 45 46.
- After Lu Chi kicks him and departs, Jiyang suppresses his swearing in front of Qingru and manufactures tears. She again promises that they will eventually drive Lu Chi out 46.
