Power Progression
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Caster — Cherub | 2 4 | Manifests through the Fuyuki Greater Grail with Mayuri’s Spirit Origin contained in a Caster framework. Possesses EX-ranked magical energy and Noble Phantasm parameters. |
| Accumulated Spirit Power | 46 53 | Thunder Sanctuary continuously absorbs atmospheric mana from the Greater Source. Her reserves become substantially greater than at summoning, increasing the potential output of the Sword of Blazing Flame. |
| Flesh-and-blood incarnation | 57 | Uses the Holy Grail to obtain a real body. The process consumes well over half of the Grail’s sixty-year reserve, preserves her appearance and wings, and dissolves her contract with Tokiomi. |
| Saber — Mayuri Inverse / Leviathan | 63 64 65 | Is summoned again in Singularity F as an inverted Servant. Thunder Sanctuary is replaced by Demon King Leviathan, and the Flaming Sword becomes her strongest attack. Her personality remains unchanged. |
| Power increase through Leviathan’s evolution | 76 | Leviathan devours numerous magical beasts and a Servant carrying an additional Holy Grail. Its expanding Spirit Origin transmits the effects of its increased power to Mayuri through their connection. |
| Fusion with Leviathan | 78 79 | Merges with Leviathan in the Grand Temple of Time, gaining altered armor, four pairs of wings, and golden slit-pupilled eyes. Uses the previously sealed Flaming Sword against Goetia. |
| Independent Holy Grail anchor | 82 | Olga Marie replaces the nodes binding her to Singularity F’s Grail with connections to the Grail recovered from Medusa. This allows Mayuri to leave the Singularity without her Spirit Origin collapsing. |
| Mukuro Hoshimiya manifestation | 84 | Abruptly finds herself in another Spirit’s body, carrying Michael, Mukuro’s EX-ranked Angel. The new body is 148 centimeters tall. |
| Ten Plagues acquired | 163 | Reveals that she gained an anti-pharaoh Noble Phantasm upon arriving in the Sixth Singularity. It remains unused against Ozymandias. |
Background
Mayuri’s soul originally belonged to a male shut-in from another world who watched anime and played games, including Fate/Grand Order. After Alaya recorded the soul in the Throne of Heroes, the Fuyuki Greater Grail summoned her as Caster. Her assumption of Mayuri’s form involved cross-world soul contamination, grafted Spirit-system powers, and the Throne’s automatic Spirit Origin adaptation; even the Grail’s supplied information gave her only a rough explanation 2 3 45.
Her memories provide recognizable faces, names, and fragments of future events rather than a dependable account of the story. She suspects that someone tampered with them. As events diverge from what she remembers, she increasingly finds that prior knowledge cannot reliably predict what will happen 3 16 64.
Appearance
| Form | Distinguishing Features |
|---|---|
| Original Mayuri / Cherub | Exceptionally long, straight pale-gold or champagne-blonde hair; rose-red eyes; two pairs of white wings; a black-and-gold Astral Dress with a short pleated skirt and black high-heeled combat boots. Her wings can be concealed 3 4 5 13. |
| Civilian appearance | Wears loose cream-colored knitwear and dark blue jeans. Without her Astral Dress, her unusually fair skin and rose-red eyes are her most conspicuous features 61. |
| Mayuri Inverse | Pale-gold hair, black wings with a dark-red sheen, and a nearly black Astral Dress marked with dark-red lines. A red-and-black halo bears unsettling symbols 63 64. |
| Leviathan fusion | Her Astral Dress incorporates Leviathan’s carapace patterns. She gains four pairs of wings with dark-purple membranes and bone spurs, along with golden slit-pupilled eyes 79. |
| Mukuro Hoshimiya body | Golden curls nearly reaching the floor, amber-gold eyes, and a short pinkish-purple qipao decorated with glowing star patterns 84. |
Personality
Mayuri is cooperative, pragmatic, and unusually candid for a Servant. She asks Tokiomi to use ordinary Master–Servant forms of address and openly explains her severe lack of close-combat skill. She tolerates insults without treating personal dignity as a reason to abandon a reconnaissance assignment 3 4 12.
Her attachment to fictional characters survives their transition into real people around her. Admiration for Artoria draws her into the harbor confrontation and later prompts her to defend Artoria’s kingship. Memories of using Zhuge Liang in Fate/Grand Order influence her decision to spare the unconscious Waver 13 32 45.
Self-preservation is her central personal goal: she wants to continue living rather than disappear when her Servant existence ends. Nevertheless, she takes responsibility for the Grail disaster, moves her battle with Artoria away from civilians, and helps Irisviel recover Illya because she cannot accept the child being treated as a tool 53 57 61.
Her relaxed habits conceal a strong need for companionship. She enjoys tea, snacks, anime, and sleeping late, but prolonged isolation in Singularity F leaves her talking to empty cans and deeply hurt when Chaldea’s newcomers flee from her. Inversion changes her powers and appearance, not the human personality within her 4 61 64 68 81 83.
- Alcohol sensitivity: Drinking at the kings’ banquet weakens her restraint and disrupts her Spirit constitution’s control thresholds, causing an involuntary surge to maximum defensive output 32 33.
- Combat disposition: Her Servant instincts make lethal action much easier than it had been for her previous self, who struggled even to watch a fish being killed 5.
Abilities & Skills
Servant Parameters
These parameters describe her original Caster manifestation, not every subsequent form 4 5.
| Parameter | Rank |
|---|---|
| Strength | C 4 |
| Endurance | B 4 |
| Agility | B 4 |
| Magical Energy | EX 4 |
| Luck | B 4 |
| Noble Phantasm | EX 4 |
Class and Personal Skills
| Skill | Rank | Effects and Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Magic Resistance | A | Nullifies magecraft incantations shorter than three verses and takes almost no damage from greater magecraft or ritual spells 5. |
| Territory Creation | E | Lowest-ranked because Mayuri has never formally studied or practiced magecraft 4 5. |
| Item Construction | E | Suffers from the same lack of practical magecraft experience as Territory Creation 5. |
| Spiritual Power Integration — Gathering of All Things | A | Absorbs surrounding magical energy, spiritual energy, and energy attacks, converting them into usable Spirit Power 5. |
| Judgment Surveillance — Invisible Observation | A | Conceals Mayuri and Thunder Sanctuary from most humans, magi, and Servants, enabling broad reconnaissance. Her Master and beings with special perception can still detect them 5. |
| Four-Aspect Divine Control | A | Allows Thunder Sanctuary to switch freely among four principal combat forms without a cooldown 5. |
- Energy-conversion limit: Magical energy belonging to Iskandar’s mental landscape is difficult to assimilate and converts too slowly to sustain an extended battle inside Ionioi Hetairoi 38.
- Concealment limit: Presence Reduction is not complete invisibility. Kiritsugu detects her killing intent during her attempted assassination despite her concealment 4 49.
Thunder Sanctuary
Her original Angel functions as a transforming combat platform. Its concealed resting state is an invisible black sphere above Fuyuki 3 5.
| Form | Main Function |
|---|---|
| Lion | High-powered, focused lightning cannon for pinpoint bombardment and breaking fortified positions. It also physically charges and strikes Berserker 5 15. |
| Human | Fires a 360-degree plasma barrage through the thousand eyes covering its body, leaving no blind spots 5. |
| Bull / Ox | Combines heavy defense with chained, wide-area lightning strikes 5. |
| Eagle / Vulture | High-speed flight and homing lightning missiles for pursuing mobile targets 4 5. |
| Griffin | Used against Iskandar’s Giant Divine Vultures during their aerial clash 37. |
- Defensive fusion: Mayuri can merge into its roughly twenty-meter spherical shell. An enemy must destroy Thunder Sanctuary itself to reach her inside 39.
- Expanded perception: While merged, she retains awareness through the shell and can hear extremely faint sounds within several hundred meters 39.
- Interception: Its wings and shell block Hector’s Spear during Gilgamesh’s aerial attack; damaged wings restore themselves almost immediately 45.
Final Judgment: Sword of Blazing Flame — Lahathelev
An EX-ranked Noble Phantasm that releases Thunder Sanctuary’s restrictions and reshapes it into a gigantic drill-lance, concentrating Mayuri’s accumulated Spirit Power into an annihilating torrent of lightning 5.
- Classification: Described conversationally as Anti-City; its formal listing gives Anti-Fortress, Anti-Personnel Human Order, Anti-Beast, and Anti-Purification types 4 5.
- Destructive scale: A single strike can destroy a city and its surroundings, with greater power available through charging 5.
- Demonstrated result: The blast used against Gilgamesh annihilates him and Vimana, then leaves a two-hundred-meter opening in the sea after evaporating enormous quantities of water 53.
- Adjustable expenditure: Against Artoria, Mayuri initially commits three-tenths of her Spirit Power—three times the output used against Gilgamesh—then increases the expenditure to nearly half her reserves 53 54.
Astral Dress: Number Ten Thousand
An A-ranked, self-targeting Noble Phantasm composed of Spirit Power. It stabilizes her manifestation and serves as the foundation housing her Angel and Spirit abilities 5 59.
- Nullifies attacks below B rank and greatly reduces stronger attacks 39 45.
- Stops the arrows and javelins of Iskandar’s army without visible strain 37.
- Combined with Magic Resistance A, leaves Mayuri unharmed by Artoria’s point-blank A+-rank magical-energy beam 50.
- Completely nullifies the Lion King’s initial invisible attack 154.
- Does not guarantee immunity to high-ranked Noble Phantasms or weapons with special piercing effects 39 45.
Spacequake
An A++-rank Anti-World Noble Phantasm based on the spatial disaster caused when a Spirit manifests. Mayuri withdraws from the world, compresses Spirit Power, and releases it through her return, overwhelming the structure of space 38 157.
- Reality Marble destruction: Collapses Ionioi Hetairoi from within 38.
- Controlled area: Can compress its range to avoid distant allies, although doing so also reduces its power 157.
- Sixth Singularity result: Disintegrates Tristan; Gawain and Mordred survive badly wounded by combining their Noble Phantasms 157.
- Limit: Cannot break Goetia’s Grand Temple of Time 78.
Demon King Leviathan
The Noble Phantasm replacing Thunder Sanctuary in Mayuri’s inverted Saber manifestation 64.
- Growth through consumption: Devours magical beasts, a Grail-bearing Servant, and Demon God Pillars to strengthen itself. Acquired ability fragments become embedded throughout Mayuri’s Spirit Origin 76 78 82.
- Fusion: Can merge with Mayuri to produce her transformed combat state 78 79.
- Seventh Lightning: Overwhelms the Lion King, after which her Spirit Origin signature disappears and the Holy City’s protective barrier collapses 159.
- Transport: Carries surviving refugees across the desert 159.
- Control: Obeys Mayuri’s commands, including her order not to eat Hassan’s warriors after Ritsuka intervenes 148.
Flaming Sword
A conceptual attack produced by Leviathan’s condensed power, distinct from Thunder Sanctuary’s Sword of Blazing Flame. It recreates the path along the Tree of Life from the Crown to the Kingdom and severs causality and the bonds between things 59 79.
- Manifests as a narrow, winding flash rather than a literal flaming blade 79.
- Becomes usable in the Grand Temple of Time despite previously being sealed 78.
- Splits Goetia’s Ars Almadel Salomonis beam down its center 79.
- Drains Mayuri heavily enough that she doubts she could immediately repeat an attack of equal strength 79.
Holy Power and Purification
Cherub’s angelic attributes give Mayuri’s attacks an inherent component of holiness and purification 56.
- Particularly effective against Zouken’s worm-based existence and life-extension methods 56.
- Purifies the Grail’s black mud on contact, reducing it to harmless residue 58.
- Offers comparatively little additional benefit against ordinary Servants, where simply increasing attack output is more effective 56.
Mobility and Spirit Form
- Independent flight: Her original Spirit Origin can fly without displaying wings; she travels at approximately six hundred kilometers per hour while carrying snacks and cola 27.
- Intangibility: Spirit Form allows her to pass through castle walls, floors, and other physical barriers 49.
- Contract communication: Exchanges observations and instructions with Tokiomi through their magical-energy link, including visual information 10 22.
Other Manifested Powers
- Ten Plagues: A Noble Phantasm specifically designed to target Egyptian pharaohs. Mayuri gains it in the Sixth Singularity but never tests it on Ozymandias 163.
- Michael: The enormous key-shaped staff she possesses after manifesting as Mukuro Hoshimiya; identified as Mukuro’s EX-ranked Angel 84.
Combat Limitations
- Minimal melee proficiency: Mayuri considers weapon combat against other Servants effectively suicidal. Becoming Saber does not give her the technique of a trained swordsman 4 64.
- Limited practical magecraft: Grail-supplied theoretical knowledge does not compensate for her lack of training 4.
- Contract dependence in Singularity F: Abandoning her Grail-bound duty or forcibly leaving the Singularity would collapse her Spirit Origin. Olga Marie must replace the contract anchors before she can depart 64 82.
Relationships
- Tokiomi Tohsaka — Her original Master. Their arrangement is explicitly one of mutual use, although she appreciates his practical accommodation of her weaknesses. Knowing he intends to sacrifice her, she knocks him unconscious and takes her own wish; afterward, she still rescues him, and he provides her with an apartment 4 51 56 58 59 61.
- Artoria Pendragon — A favorite character from her previous life and a wartime opponent. Mayuri defends her kingship against Iskandar but later confronts her with the Sword of Blazing Flame 13 32 53 54.
- Iskandar — Initially a social acquaintance who gives her a ride to the kings’ banquet. Their disagreement over Artoria leads to Mayuri’s challenge and their battle inside Ionioi Hetairoi 27 32 33 37 38.
- Gilgamesh — Calls her “Miss Angel” during their shopping-district encounter. Later intercepts her on Vimana and is annihilated by her Sword of Blazing Flame 25 45 53.
- Waver Velvet — An opposing Master whom she deliberately spares after Iskandar’s elimination, partly out of gratitude for his future Zhuge Liang incarnation’s usefulness in her previous-life gameplay 44 45.
- Sakura Matou — Rescued by Mayuri from the Matou family and subsequently from the Grail’s black mud 58 60.
- Irisviel von Einzbern — Initially the vessel from whom Mayuri removes the Lesser Grail. After the war, Mayuri brings her food and helps her retrieve Illya from Germany 49 61.
- Illyasviel von Einzbern — Mayuri helps reunite her with Irisviel. At Chaldea, she also accepts Illya’s apology for attacking her in Singularity F 61 83.
- Olga Marie Animusphere — A favorite character from Mayuri’s previous life who becomes her route out of isolation. Olga Marie returns for her, modifies her Spirit Origin, and brings her to Chaldea 68 81 82 83.
- Ritsuka Fujimaru and Mash Kyrielight — Initially frightened by Mayuri’s magical-energy readings and opposed to her Grail-guardian assignment. They later become her companions on the Sixth Singularity mission 67 77 83 148.
- Shirou Emiya — Shares Singularity F’s defensive duties with her, guarding the perimeter while she protects the Grail. Their limited conversation makes him poor company during her isolation; she leaves the guardian duty to him when she departs 63 65 82.
- Leviathan — Her inverted Noble Phantasm, combat partner, and companion during isolation. Their linked Spirit Origins allow power growth and fusion 76 78 81 82.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Fourth Holy Grail War
- Opening display: Cooperates with Tokiomi’s staged assassination of one of Hassan of the Hundred Faces’ bodies, eliminating the target without damaging the nearby gemstone core or grounds 5 6.
- Harbor confrontation: Leaves concealment after receiving permission to appear before Artoria and the other Servants. Her fight with Berserker ends without a decisive result when Kariya’s failing body can no longer sustain him 13 14 15 16.
- Kings’ banquet: Defends Artoria’s efforts to delay Britain’s destruction, drinks despite disliking the wine, and challenges Iskandar. Their subsequent battle reveals Spacequake 32 33 37 38.
- Late-war battles: Is intercepted by Gilgamesh and destroys him with the Sword of Blazing Flame. Later steals the Lesser Grail from Irisviel and fights Artoria outside Fuyuki to reduce civilian casualties 45 46 49 53 54.
- Personal wish: Prevents Tokiomi from using her as the final sacrifice and asks the corrupted Grail for a real body rather than a world-changing wish 51 56 57.
- Grail disaster: Destroys the Grail to close the rift, rescues Tokiomi and Sakura, and incinerates the remaining black mud. The cleanup destroys the Tohsaka Residence and leaves a vast crater 58.
- Aftermath: Helps Irisviel bring Illya to Fuyuki, then settles into a quiet apartment life financed by Tokiomi 61.
Singularity F
- Forced return to Servant existence: After only a short period enjoying her physical body, her existence in the Throne is summoned into Singularity F as Mayuri Inverse. She is bound to guard its Holy Grail rather than help repair it 63 64 65.
- Isolation and first contact: Builds a shelter from scavenged supplies. Chaldea’s detection system identifies her magical energy as approaching Beast-class, causing Ritsuka, Mash, and Olga Marie to flee from her 65 67 68.
- Confrontation with Goetia: Is transported to the Grand Temple of Time, fuses with Leviathan, and cuts through Goetia’s Human Order Cannon with the Flaming Sword. Goetia retreats, leaving her uncertain whether she could have endured another exchange 78 79.
- Departure: Spends three months alone after Olga Marie receives an artificial body and leaves. Olga Marie eventually returns, replaces her Grail anchors, and takes her to Chaldea 81 82.
Chaldea and Subsequent Manifestations
- Life at Chaldea: Reunites with familiar faces, enjoys regular meals and a bed, and receives an assignment to accompany Ritsuka and Mash into the Sixth Singularity 83.
- Another Spirit body: Subsequently awakens as Mukuro Hoshimiya, marking another abrupt change of body and Spirit Origin 84.
- Sixth Singularity: Uses Leviathan against hostile forces, kills Tristan with a compressed Spacequake, and helps transport refugees after Leviathan defeats the Lion King 148 157 159.
- Unanswered summoning mystery: Asks Trismegistus Hermes why the Counter Force summoned her to protect Singularity F. The machine overloads before answering 163.
- Uruk mission: Ritsuka and Mash grieve her disappearance after Chaldea confirms she did not transfer with them. Fou later senses an aura resembling Mayuri’s near Kotori, but the connection is not explained in the supplied account 243.
