Reincarnation Realm — temporary 43 Activated Netherworld Transformation after Ancestor Guixuan’s death. Feinted an attack and attempted to flee, but Yan Nantian killed him.
  • Continuity note: The opening battle describes Qi Tianlong, Liu Ran, and Ancestor Guixuan collectively unleashing peak Tribulation Transcendence might. The following chapter explicitly identifies Qi Tianlong as mid Tribulation Crossing Realm, so this is not a confirmed permanent advancement 40 41.

Appearance

  • Tall, with an imposing presence and a stern face 13 40.
  • Wears black robes embroidered with intricate ghost-face totems along the hem 29.
  • Described with eyes like cold stars and Ghost Qi swirling around him 31.

Personality

Qi Tianlong is domineering, proud, and intensely concerned with the Ghost King Sect’s standing. He responds violently to losses, destroying furniture when angered and threatening war when Liu Ran refuses to surrender Sun Qi’s killer. His contempt for weaker cultivators is evident when he dismisses Luo Tian’s apparent Yin-Yang Realm cultivation 17 28 40.

Despite his temper, he can act cautiously. He accepts advice to probe the Shadow Pavilion through hired assassins rather than immediately risk the sect’s strength. He also identifies evidence linking Gui Ming’s death to the pavilion, frustrating Luo Tian’s attempt to turn the two sects against each other. Once Ancestor Guixuan dies, however, he abandons his disciples and prioritizes escape 17 34 43.

History

Initial Conflict with the Shadow Pavilion

Qi Tianlong first takes notice of the Shadow Pavilion after it destroys the Heavenly Wolf Gang, a subordinate force that paid substantial annual tribute to the Ghost King Sect. He sends Fifth Elder Yin Tiankui, accompanied by elders and stewards, to Fengluo City to test the organization’s strength 13.

After the expedition is wiped out, he convenes the elders. Gui Ming warns that a costly confrontation could leave the sect vulnerable to the Falling Rosy Clouds Sect and imperial family. Qi Tianlong therefore approves a plan to hire the Blood Kill Organization to assassinate pavilion leaders and expose its reserves 17.

Sun Qi’s Death and the Hunt for His Killer

Sun Qi’s shattered soul jade alerts Qi Tianlong to his personal disciple’s death. He sends Gui Ming to investigate the Gloomy Shadow Mountain Range. The investigation reveals footage of a young swordsman killing Sun Qi and the accompanying disciples with the Falling Rosy Clouds Sword Art 27.

Convinced that the Falling Rosy Clouds Sect owes him an explanation, Qi Tianlong confronts Liu Ran. Liu Ran rejects the sword art as sufficient proof of the killer’s allegiance. Their ensuing duel lasts half an hour without a decisive result, after which Qi Tianlong gives him three days to surrender the culprit 28.

Qi Tianlong circulates the killer’s portrait, directs disciples to report sightings, and offers rewards through the underground black market. He also personally negotiates assassination commissions with the Blood Lord 29 30.

Offer or Commission Terms
Accurate information about Sun Qi’s killer A mid-grade Profound-tier cultivation method and one million low-grade spirit stones; valuable information could also earn direct admission as an inner disciple 29.
Assassination of Sun Qi’s killer One upper-grade Profound-tier cultivation manual and ten million low-grade spirit stones; no deadline because the killer’s true appearance remained unknown 30.
Killing a Shadow Pavilion hall master One million low-grade spirit stones per target 30.
Killing a Shadow Pavilion elder Three million low-grade spirit stones per target 30.
Initial deposit Five million low-grade spirit stones, with the balance to be settled according to completed kills 30.

He subsequently orders Ghost King Sect disciples to kill Falling Rosy Clouds Sect members on sight and dispatches more elites into the mountains to hunt the culprit 31.

Gui Ming’s Death and the Coalition

After Gui Ming is killed, Qi Tianlong personally examines the ambush site. Poisoned needles resembling those used against the Fifth Elder lead him to identify the Shadow Pavilion as responsible. He also suspects that it is secretly cooperating with the Falling Rosy Clouds Sect 34.

Qi Tianlong seeks Ancestor Guixuan’s support for retaliation. Guixuan orders preparations to destroy the pavilion and instructs him to test the Falling Rosy Clouds Sect’s allegiance by demanding its participation 35.

Qi Tianlong threatens Liu Ran with war if he refuses. The two come to regard Sun Qi’s killer as a likely Shadow Pavilion operative who learned the rival sect’s sword art to provoke conflict. Liu Ran agrees to join the attack with selected elites and powerful elders, and the coalition arranges a secret rendezvous in Fengluo City 36.

Battle of Fengluo City and Death

Qi Tianlong arrives with Ancestor Guixuan, Liu Ran, the Blood Lord, and their forces. He orders the Shadow Pavilion’s base surrounded and declares his intention to destroy it. Although unable to discern Yan Nantian’s cultivation, he gives the command to attack 39 40.

During the battle, Bai Tianyu outmatches him. When the Blood Lord is defeated by Luo Tian, Qi Tianlong appeals to Guixuan for a solution. Guixuan uses his secret art but is ultimately killed by Yan Nantian 41 42.

Qi Tianlong then activates Netherworld Transformation, abandons the remaining disciples, and flees behind a feigned attack. At Luo Tian’s command, Yan Nantian pursues him with Sword Qi and kills him. The Shadow Pavilion later exterminates the Ghost King Sect’s remaining members and takes its grounds as a temporary headquarters 43 47.
