• Shen Heng survived the simulation’s final battle, was punished for manipulating Calamity Beasts against other trainees, and returned to the classroom after his consciousness was torn apart and restored.
• The trainees finished camp, and Chang Lei ranked Shen Heng fifth overall with an A+ rating despite his D-rank ability.

As Calamity Beast threats spread and Xu Yuqin’s illness worsened, Shen Heng trained new martial artists and searched for a Firmament Breath Beast that might help treat her. He and Le Gu Nan lured the beast down in the Qi Mountains, but it recovered from their attack and tried to dodge.

• Shen Heng reached the Third Tier, learned that Xu Yuqin had only two or three months left, and posted a bounty for Firmament Breath Beast Lung Crystals.
• Shen Heng killed a Scale-Armored Hyena that had attacked Lin Xiaoyu, then saw Calamity Beast incidents increase as the Ruins Realm’s connection with Blue Star deepened.
• Shen Heng taught Ye Chengyun, Fang Yunshu, and Yu Jingming how to cultivate, and he encouraged Yu Jingming to build strength despite failing to awaken an ability.

Back in Linhai, he began learning Sevenfold Force, while Le Gu Nan cured Xu Yuqin’s Weak Breath Disease and Shen Shuning prepared to awaken her ability.

• Shen Heng killed the Firmament Breath Beast and extracted its Lung Crystal, then Le Gu Nan purified it for Tao Man’s sick child, extending its effect by three months.
• Shen Heng agreed to help the Longzhou Supervision Bureau trap the Golden Rat, but the wary beast avoided their vault ambush and escaped.
• Shen Heng tracked the Golden Rat to its nest beneath Dream Wonderland, where he and Le Gu Nan visited the amusement park and entered a haunted house together.
• The Golden Rat attacked a young man near the amusement park, but Shen Heng held it in the air and killed it with Vibrating Blade · Triple.
• Shen Heng and Le Gu Nan helped Chen Rui’s team when a Black Concealment Wolf attacked, and Shen Heng killed it with one saber slash.

Shen Heng investigated disappearances at the seafood market and uncovered Qiu Rui’s connection to the shape-changing Calamity Beast Shadow Erosion. After the team attacked it, Shadow Erosion’s Pain Resonance incapacitated everyone but Shen Heng, who remained behind to hold it off while Fan Hong evacuated the injured.

• Shen Heng joined Wang Hai’s investigation of disappearances near the seafood market, and the team searched the market before arranging checks of its workers.
• Shen Heng tested the market’s workers, including Qiu Rui, while the group watched for signs of a Calamity Beast.
• After connecting Qiu Rui’s visits with the market and the team’s encounters with powerful beasts, Shen Heng asked Wang Hai to bring him in for questioning.
• Qiu Rui confessed that he had sheltered Shadow Erosion, a liquid Calamity Beast that ate people and threatened his family, and had lured martial artists into its path.
• Shen Heng and the team tracked Shadow Erosion to a water pipe and attacked it, using coordinated strikes and Han Ling’s armor-piercing bullets to destroy its head.
• Shadow Erosion’s remains reformed and used Pain Resonance to incapacitate the team, while Shen Heng endured the attack and helped move the others toward the exit.
• Shen Heng refused Shadow Erosion’s offer of an Erosion Servant bond and fought it alone while Fan Hong evacuated the injured.
