- Enlarged disguise: Can become a person-sized parrot while suppressing his aura to the first tier 91.

Personality
The Archaeopteryx is proud, hot-tempered, and sensitive to perceived insults. He repeatedly invokes his ancient divine-beast lineage and eighth-tier strength, objects to being called “Little Green,” and initially considers carrying a human beneath his dignity. Xu Jintang’s criticism of his appearance is enough to make him refuse to fly until she placates him 90 91 96.
He resents confinement and being treated as an ordinary pet. His complaints about a cramped pet beast space become a recurring dispute with Xu Jintang, while attempts by her classmates to handle or tease him provoke insults and pecking 99 101 117 195. Despite his bluster, he quickly becomes submissive when confronted by the power that forced his contract 118 147.
His concern for his tribe reveals a more serious side. Faced with the possible extermination of his flock, he warns Xu Jintang of the danger rather than casually accepting her help. Her immediate decision to accompany him dispels the resentment he has accumulated toward her 258 259.

History
Snow Lotus Dispute and Forced Contract
The Archaeopteryx is one of three eighth-tier demonic beasts contesting a ten-thousand-year snow lotus in the Extreme Cold Forest. Although the Ice Soul Dragon initially intimidates them into yielding it, he suspects that the dragon has become severely weakened 89.
He subsequently attacks, declaring his intention to kill the dragon and Xu Jintang and become the forest’s new king. After seizing Xu Jintang, he demands the lotus, dragon bones, and dragon blood in exchange for her release. His attempt to choke her activates the scales’ protective power and results in his forced contract instead 90.
Xu Jintang establishes her authority through the contract formation, then assigns him to guard the cave while she absorbs the lotus. He obeys, but grows impatient enough to uproot and kick down the surrounding trees 90.
Return to Human Territory
On the flight back, he reveals the contract’s release condition and insists that Xu Jintang reach the eighth tier within five years. At her request, he also recalls the beasts attacking Sector S. Once they reach the army, he adopts a parrot disguise and cooperates with her claim that he is merely a first-tier beast 91.
He later accompanies her into an underground tomb, explaining its likely dangers and offering to destroy a sixth-tier statue. Xu Jintang instead uses the scales’ power, avoiding the exposure of his identity 94.
Life at the Academy
After returning to the Federation Star Region, he explores outside the villa but is mistaken for a stray parrot by Song Tianqi. Xu Jintang introduces him to her classmates as her contracted beast 99.
Dissatisfied with his basic pet beast space, he announces that he will earn money for a deluxe version. His proposed shortcut is for Xu Jintang to enter the Ability User Competition and use the scales to win its two-million-star-coin individual championship reward 101 103 105.
He also provides protection beyond direct combat. On discovering a consciousness fragment attached to the Soul-Seizing Bell, he destroys it without damaging the bell and warns Xu Jintang that its owner is probably a ninth-tier expert 128.
Studio Incident
During the Happy Match-Up recording, Xu Jintang sends him to search for a suspicious staff member. He later blocks the man’s attack and restrains him for questioning 174 175.
An accomplice’s intervention allows the suspect to escape. The Archaeopteryx shields Xu Jintang from further arrows, then withdraws into his pet beast space before security arrives to avoid exposing himself 175.
Defense of the Green-Membrane Bird Tribe
When human forces attack his flock, he urgently returns with Xu Jintang. Her willingness to face the danger alongside him marks a decisive improvement in their relationship 258 259.
He reaches the tribe after soldiers have breached its defenses and begun killing its young. His attack scatters the troops, rallies the birds, and forces the general to order a retreat. He pursues the soldiers until all have withdrawn from tribal territory 259 260.
Afterward, he orders treatment for the wounded and a casualty count, then attends to resettling the survivors. He cautions Xu Jintang against provoking neighboring tribal chiefs while exploring 260.
Surveillance and Continued Concealment
Following Xu Jintang’s encounter with the Blazing Flame Lions, the Ice Soul Dragon’s aura triggers a satellite alarm. The Archaeopteryx destroys the satellite and carries her away, changing course when further surveillance blocks their route 261.
Military footage of a human riding him contributes to suspicions that a human has defected to the demonic beasts. A later wanted notice draws speculation that his unidentified rider must be a ninth-tier expert 259 268.
He remains with Xu Jintang during her later flight from a wine-gourd wielder. Although revealing himself would expose their association, he offers to intervene when the attacker traps her in the Wine Gourd Grotto-Heaven. The Heaven and Earth Token breaks the trap before his intervention is needed 279.
Equipment & Items
- Basic pet beast space — Bought by Xu Jintang for twelve thousand star coins after she refuses his request for the ninety-nine-thousand-star-coin luxury version. He repeatedly complains that it is cramped 99 101.
- Luxury pet beast space — Eventually purchased at the Myriad Treasures Pavilion before Xu Jintang leaves for her Command Camp internship 195.
Relationships
- Xu Jintang — Former hostage turned contractual master and traveling companion. Their early relationship is coercive and argumentative; her decision to help save his tribe removes his accumulated resentment 90 259.
- Ice Soul Dragon — Initially a rival he hopes to kill and replace as forest king. After the contract, they accompany Xu Jintang together; the dragon agrees to help during the tribal crisis if necessary 90 259.
- Jin Xiaobao — Associated with the scales’ power that subdued him. The Archaeopteryx recognizes that presence with fear and retreats quietly after Jin Xiaobao releases him from restraint 118 147.
- Song Tianqi — Frequently mistakes his behavior for that of an entertaining pet. The Archaeopteryx retaliates against his teasing by pecking him and leading him on a chase around the villa 99 117.
- Yan Yuting — Finds his talking parrot disguise cute despite his insults and introduces Xu Jintang to pet beast spaces 99.
- Green-Membrane Bird tribe — His flock and responsibility as chief. He returns to defend it from extermination and oversees care for the survivors 258 259 260.
