Personality

Ye Mingyuan initially believed that exceptional strength carried a responsibility to protect the universe. He waited outside the Immortal Court for a hundred years to persuade Lu Qingyun to abandon life as a forbidden-zone ruler. His appeal failed when Lu Qingyun confronted him with the Feng Clan’s participation in his persecution 3.

Proud and competitive, Ye Mingyuan spent millennia trying to catch up with Lu Qingyun. His rivalry also became personal through Feng Zixue, whose feelings were not directed toward her nominal husband. After Lu Qingyun healed his Dao injuries, however, he finally stopped treating victory over him as his cultivation goal 10 11 27.

He was fiercely protective of Ku Mu and ruthless toward enemies who threatened him. When a Great Accomplishment Tyrant Body interfered in his disciple’s contest, Ye Mingyuan killed the attacker and used its blood to strengthen Ku Mu 21.

His protection of the universe coexisted with a strong desire to survive and become immortal. He admitted through his actions that his patrols also served his search for life-extending medicine. Nevertheless, he rejected severing himself into a Supreme and ultimately accepted public condemnation to prepare a final battle against Sheng Ying 36 39 42.

Abilities & Skills

Sacred Body and Physical Combat

His Sacred Body provides exceptional strength, durability, vitality, and close-combat power 6 13.

  • Tore Great Accomplishment Tyrant Bodies apart with his bare hands 9 21.
  • Broke the Tyrant Body Ancestral Star’s restraints with a body comparable to an ultimate Emperor Weapon 22.
  • Retained overwhelming physical strength after losing his cultivation 23 24.
  • After attaining the Dao, traded injuries with four ultimately sublimated Supremes and killed all four 36.
  • Remained vulnerable to superior power: Lu Qingyun’s sword intent and Chaos Emperor Fist inflicted catastrophic injuries 11 33.

Regeneration and Endurance

Ye Mingyuan repeatedly restores damaged flesh through divine power and available life essence 9 13.

  • Reformed his body dozens of times while exhausting two Supremes’ limited periods of ultimate sublimation 13.
  • Used Tyrant Body blood and refined flesh essence as recovery resources 9 12.
  • Regenerated a hand stripped to the bone while suppressing the Dao wounds left by attacking Supremes 35.
  • His endurance is finite: the heavenly saber left him half-crippled, while old age eventually brought an irreversible decline 23 42.

Blood Qi and Manifestations

His golden blood Qi serves as both a source of power and a means of controlling the battlefield 9 29.

  • Condensed blood Qi into a cage to imprison a Great Accomplishment Tyrant Body 9.
  • Manifested golden dragons around his body during his imperial battle with the Black Emperor 29.
  • Used a golden avenue to cross immense distances, including more than half the universe 10.
  • Displayed Chaos Growing a Green Lotus within his Sea of Bitterness 3 20.

Forbidden Techniques and Phoenix Intent

He refined a forbidden emperor technique through repeated battles and used it against his first Tyrant Body opponent 9.

  • Memorized the artistic conception revealed by the incomplete True Phoenix Precious Technique 27.
  • Used its fading phoenix-shaped intent to support his successful emperor-proving attempt 28.
  • The passages establish his use of that intent, not mastery of the complete True Phoenix Precious Technique 27 28.

Formations and Battle Preparation

Ye Mingyuan prepares reserves and traps rather than relying solely on direct combat 12 40.

  • Kept a refined Tyrant Body corpse ready to restore his strength when two Supremes ambushed him 12.
  • Spent thousands of years arranging more than a hundred ultimate Dao killing formations in a star domain 40.
  • Used those formations to trap nine attacking Supremes and obstruct their escape 40.
  • Summoned the Black Emperor’s surviving battle intent as a second trump card 40.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Great cauldron Emperor Weapon — Rarely used in battle. It appeared to protect him from Lu Qingyun’s Chaos Emperor Fist and was immediately shattered 33.
  • Feng Zixue’s great cauldron — A separate, Quasi-Emperor-level cauldron that carried her jade coffin into the Immortal Court 18 19.
  • Refined Great Accomplishment Tyrant Body corpse — Stored within his Sea of Bitterness. Its essence restored him after his sword injury and sustained his battle against two Supremes until exhausted 9 12 13.
  • Immortal Source Liquid — Offered to Feng Zixue so she could seal herself. After she refused and died, he destroyed it, deliberately removing his own retreat 18.
  • Supreme protective treasure — Bestowed upon Ku Mu; contained Ye Mingyuan’s Sacred Body power and withstood several attacks from a Great Accomplishment Tyrant Body 21.
  • Chaotic God Mountain peak — Carried away after an unsuccessful search for immortality medicine. It contained an incomplete stone tablet associated with the True Phoenix Precious Technique and became his bargaining material with Lu Qingyun 24 25 26 27.
  • Black Emperor’s lotus seed — A potent recovery medicine, close to but not itself a Divine Medicine of Immortality; restored his injuries and divine power after killing four Supremes 36.

Relationships

  • Lu Qingyun — Old acquaintance and rival from the Ancient Starry Sky Road, where Ye Mingyuan endured three attacks before losing. Their relationship progressed from confrontation to negotiated assistance: Lu Qingyun healed his Dao injuries and later sheltered him while he prepared to confront Sheng Ying 3 27 42.
  • Feng Zixue — Wife in name only. Despite their unconsummated marriage and her attachment elsewhere, Ye Mingyuan remained tender toward her after death and endured Lu Qingyun’s attacks to secure her burial in the Immortal Court 9 19.
  • Ku Mu — Disciple and fellow Sacred Body cultivator. Ye Mingyuan passed down his legacy, rescued him from a Tyrant Body, and searched for a remedy when Ku Mu could not reach Great Accomplishment 18 21 29.
  • Black Emperor — Initially a rival, later his principal ally against the forbidden zones. Defeated Ye Mingyuan after his imperial attainment, supplied him with recovery medicine, and entrusted him with protection during his final years 28 29 36 38.
  • Heavenly Venerable Taiyi — A Supreme whom Ye Mingyuan followed to prevent a possible calamity. Taiyi arranged his first confrontation with a Great Accomplishment Tyrant Body 6 7.
  • Tyrant Body lineage — Hereditary enemies of his physique. Their attack on Ku Mu escalated the feud; his later intimidation drove their ancestral star into hiding 21 22 29.
  • Sheng Ying — Final enemy, a Dao-attaining Holy Spirit whom Ye Mingyuan refused to leave unchecked after his death 42 44.

History

Early Rivalry and the Immortal Court

Ye Mingyuan encountered Lu Qingyun during the struggle along the Ancient Starry Sky Road and lost after enduring three attacks. After Lu Qingyun attained the Dao and established the Immortal Court as a forbidden zone, Ye Mingyuan waited outside for a hundred years to demand an explanation. Lu Qingyun rejected his appeal to protect the universe and expelled him 3.

After reaching Great Accomplishment, Ye Mingyuan confronted Heavenly Venerable Taiyi as he emerged from Chaotic God Mountain. Unable to stop him, Ye Mingyuan followed him across the universe. Taiyi eventually left him to fight a Great Accomplishment Tyrant Body, whom Ye Mingyuan killed 6 7 9.

Failed Challenge and the Supreme Ambush

Following more than two thousand years of seclusion, Ye Mingyuan challenged Lu Qingyun again. A nine-leaved blade of grass stopped him outside the Immortal Court; even after he abandoned the challenge, one leaf severed half his body 10 11.

Two Supremes then attempted to exploit his injuries through a sabotaged demi-divine medicine. Ye Mingyuan restored himself with the refined Tyrant Body corpse and moved the battle away from the Feng Clan. By repeatedly regenerating, he outlasted their ultimate sublimation and killed them 12 13.

Feng Zixue’s Death and His Second Life

Feng Zixue refused his offer of Immortal Source Liquid and died beside her cauldron. Ye Mingyuan destroyed the liquid and brought her coffin to the Immortal Court, agreeing to withstand three attacks from Lu Qingyun in exchange for fulfilling her wish 18 19.

During the ordeal, he regenerated from his severed head and began a second life. The third attack shattered his restored body, but his principal divine soul escaped. Lu Qingyun buried Feng Zixue beneath the forbidden land 19.

Breaking the Sacred Body’s Limit

After recovering, Ye Mingyuan rescued Ku Mu from a Great Accomplishment Tyrant Body and attacked the Tyrant Body Ancestral Star. He drew four Tyrant Bodies into battle, then triggered an emperor-proving tribulation that destroyed them 21 22.

His attempt failed at the heavenly saber, which severed his cultivation and sealed his future cultivation path. Searching for a cure, he entered Chaotic God Mountain and carried away a peak whose presence resembled the palace and saber from his tribulation 23 24 25.

The peak’s hidden tablet revealed the incomplete True Phoenix Precious Technique. In exchange for the discovery, Lu Qingyun healed his Dao injuries. Ye Mingyuan immediately attempted the tribulation again, used the phoenix intent to cross its final barrier, and attained the Emperor Realm while the Black Emperor still lived 27 28.

Campaigns Against the Forbidden Zones

The Black Emperor defeated Ye Mingyuan in their ensuing duel, but the two later became allies against the forbidden zones. Their campaigns killed Supremes in the Desolate Ash Sea and Chaotic God Mountain 29 32.

When Lu Qingyun intervened, both refused to retreat. He defeated them in three punches, destroying Ye Mingyuan’s Emperor Weapon and leaving him badly injured. They nevertheless resumed their campaigns; in a later Desolate Ash Sea battle, Ye Mingyuan personally killed four of seven opposing Supremes 33 35 36.

By the Black Emperor’s final years, Ye Mingyuan’s strength had surpassed his aging ally’s. He agreed to protect him and, after his passing, continued patrolling the universe while searching unsuccessfully for a Divine Medicine of Immortality 38 39.

Final Defense and Death

In year forty thousand of the Immortal Court calendar, Ye Mingyuan established an imperial palace beside the Black Realm. As he aged, he prepared a star domain filled with killing formations and used the Black Emperor’s battle intent to confront nine attacking Supremes 39 40.

With Sheng Ying threatening the universe, Ye Mingyuan secretly sealed himself in Immortal Source within the Immortal Court. He allowed the world to believe he had abandoned his duties, using its condemnation to convince Sheng Ying that he would no longer intervene 42.

When Sheng Ying emerged, Ye Mingyuan returned at full strength. He burned his remaining soul and Dao fruits to drag the Holy Spirit into the Immortal Court Forbidden Zone, dying in the process. The figure on Phoenix Blood Mountain then killed Sheng Ying with a glance 44.

His earlier patrols had selectively eliminated Supremes closest to exhausting their remaining lifespan. A Dark Turmoil did not erupt again until twenty thousand years after his fall 46.
