The Demon Slayer Corps' Current State
"Then I'll have to trouble you!"
Teiichi in response, then looked at Tengen Uzui, whose hands were full of things.
Do you need me to help you with some things?
Tengen Uzui shook his head and refused, saying, "You don't understand, this is a husband's duty!"
Hearing Teiichi smiled and didn't press the matter further. The two chatted as they returned to Tengen Uzui's residence.
Soon, night fell.
With the combined efforts of Tengen Uzui's three wives, the dishes were quickly served one by one.
The two chatted during the meal, with Teiichi sharing his journey over the past two years, Tengen Uzui occasionally mentioning his past experiences as a ninja.
Soon, the topic returned to the Demon Slayer Corps.
Tengen Uzui spoke up, "Kato, our Demon Slayer Corps has gained three more Pillars in the past two years, hasn't it?"
"Three? Which three?" Teiichi asked, puzzled.
Tengen Uzui began to explain:
"One of them is the Wind Hashira who will succeed you— Sanemi Shinazugawa!"
One of them is the Flame Hashira — Kyojuro Rengoku!
Another one is Kyojuro Rengoku's Tsuguko, the Love Hashira — Mitsuri Kanroji!
(The order is based on the seating arrangement in the first episode of the Hashira Training series.)
As the first of the Pillars, Gyomei Himejima sat alone at the very front.
The six Pillars at the back are divided into two rows. Considering that Giyu Tomioka became a Pillar earlier than Sanemi Shinazugawa, the order in which they become Pillars should be: Sanemi Shinazugawa → Kyojuro Rengoku → Mitsuri Kanroji → Muichiro Tokito → Obanai Iguro Tokito → Shinobu Kocho.
Teiichi asked, "So, does that mean the Demon Slayer Corps now has seven Pillars: the Stone Hashira, Sound Hashira, Water Hashira Flower Hashira Wind Hashira Flame Hashira Pillar, and Love Hashira?"
Tengen Uzui nodded. "Yes! The Demon Slayer Corps hasn't had this kind of spectacle in countless years. We're only two short of the required nine Pillars! And that's only because you left the Corps; otherwise, we'd only be one short!"
Teiichi replied, "It would be awkward for me too! Should we make two Wind Hashira or give them names?"
Tengen Uzui waved his hand, "These are nothing!"
Teiichi nodded, not dwelling on the matter. "Did Kyojuro Rengoku's father abdicate directly?"
Tengen Uzui replied, "Yes! After all, he's become less and less involved. At least he used to go and carry out missions, but now he doesn't even do them anymore. We can't expect him to just occupy that position if we don't let him retire!"
But it doesn't matter, he's following in his father's footsteps, the position of Flame Hashira still belongs to the Rengoku Family!
Having said that, Tengen Uzui raised the cup.
"Come on, let's do it!"
Bang!
Teiichi raised his glass, and the two clinked glasses before each drinking.
Teiichi, "There's not much difference, since it was always Kyojuro Rengoku came to the meetings before!"
Tengen Uzui nodded. "Yes! The Rengoku Family is quite magnificent!"
"Magnificent? You mean both father and son are Flame Hashira?" Teiichi asked.
Tengen Uzui nodded and said, "Yes! What do you think about me having my child join the Demon Slayer Corps in the future, inherit the Sound Breathing, become the Sound Hashira, and start Uzui Family?"
Upon hearing Tengen Uzui's words Teiichi couldn't help but laugh.
Unfortunately, your idea is doomed to fail; the Demon Slayer Corps will disband in a few years.
"What, do you look down on my Sound Breathing or on my Uzui Family?"
Teiichi quickly shook his head. "No, this kind of thing seems glamorous, but ghost hunting is ultimately fraught with life-threatening dangers. More importantly, you don't even have a child yet, do you?"
Tengen Uzui replied, "What's the big deal? I'll go back and work hard tonight, maybe I'll have it next year!"
Teiichi, "It will take at least ten or twenty years for him to become a pillar, that's too long!"
Tengen Uzui nodded. "That makes sense, it's been too long. Maybe I should do what Kyojuro did and find a Tsuguko?"
Teiichi nodded in agreement, "That's a good idea! Do you have a goal yet?"
"Hiss--!"
Upon hearing Teiichi's question, Tengen Uzui gasped, feeling as if his idea had been thwarted once again.
"No, most of the people I've seen in the team over the years are idiots!"
Teiichi spoke up, "Hey, hey, hey! We're teammates, it's not nice to talk about people like that!"
Tengen Uzui said, "That's just how it is!"
They lack talent, so they find training too tiring, which results in their poor performance.
Then, when it came time to carry out the mission, they realized their mistake and became timid and hesitant.
If the mission is so dangerous that you're on the verge of death, you might still train diligently, but very few people can actually maintain that level of dedication.
If the mission is completed smoothly, I'll be even less likely to work hard in my cultivation afterwards!
Teiichi, "That's just human nature! Almost no one truly enjoys facing danger, difficulties, or challenges; everyone prefers to do things that are easier."
Tengen Uzui shook his head, puzzled, and said, "What's the point of doing something so simple? Even if you finish something like this, you won't feel any sense of accomplishment, and it's not glamorous at all!"
Teiichi, "There's also the issue of talent. Many team members have clearly trained hard, but their skills haven't improved much."
Tengen Uzui nodded in agreement, "Yes, many team members are like that. They lack talent and are unwilling to train hard."
"Tell me, where am I supposed to find Tsuguko? I don't even know where Kyojuro found Tsuguko!"
Teiichi shook his head. "I don't know either! You'll have to figure it out yourself!"
Sigh!
Tengen Uzui sighed, looked at Teiichi, and suddenly his eyes lit up.
"Hey! You're not a member of the Demon Slayer Corps! Why don't you become my Tsuguko? Then my Tsuguko will become the strongest swordsman in the Demon Slayer Corps!"
Cough cough!
Upon hearing Tengen Uzui's words, Teiichi couldn't help but choke on the sake in his mouth.
"You really dare to dream! Get lost!"
Haha~
"What's wrong with thinking about it? Let me tell you, everyone in our Demon Slayer Corps has improved a lot in the past two years! Speaking of which, wasn't it you who suggested using Breathing Style to aid digestion?"
Teiichi nodded slightly upon hearing this.
I had already gotten used to using Breathing Style techniques to aid digestion, so I had forgotten about this technique.
Later, when I was at the Butterfly Mansion, I was thinking about how to help everyone Butterfly Mansion improve their strength, and that's when I remembered I had this trick up my sleeve.
So they passed on this technique to the Butterfly Mansion members.
And then Kanae was instructed to pass it on to Kagaya Ubuyashiki, who in turn passed it on to the Kagaya Ubuyashiki and the Breeders, who then passed it down through the Pillars and the Breeders.
"This method is good, but it has some age requirements; the younger the better. The effect is not as good as it is when you are older, and it also requires a certain level of talent!"
"Does it require a lot of talent? Can't the average player learn it?"
