Life's Unpredictable Turns
In a blood-stained room, a young girl trembled in fear, hiding in a closet. Just moments before, her parents had been murdered before her very eyes. She dared not make a sound, covering her mouth with her hand, the stench of blood in the air constantly assaulting her senses.
The door opened, and the girl's fear intensified. Footsteps approached, and the wardrobe was opened.
However, the person in front of him was not a ferocious vampire, but a man with an extraordinary temperament. He lightly touched his brow with a finger, and instantly most of the fear and unease in his heart disappeared.
"I didn't expect there to be survivors."
"That is indeed strange. Generally speaking, Roa wouldn't leave any survivors. If there were, they would have been taken away by the Church."
Bai Mo and Arcueid looked at the little girl in front of them, with long, wine-red hair and eyes filled with horror. Bai Mo squatted down, an important educational detail when communicating with children.
A simple action can build trust and a sense of security on a psychological level and eliminate feelings of oppression. In his original world, Bai Mo had volunteered at an orphanage, where the staff taught him how to interact with normal children.
It was these simple details that allowed him to quickly gain the trust of Illya and Caren.
"May I have your name?"
"Noel..."
The girl spoke timidly, Bai Mo's voice was gentle, like the warm winter sun, saying, "Noel, it's not easy to have persevered this long, you've done very well. Now, listen to me."
Your parents have recovered, but their memory may be a little hazy for the next few days. Tomorrow, a blue-haired nun will lead you away from here, and you will start a new life in another safe place.
The chocolates in the kitchen cabinet, I replaced the innermost layer with gold. Don't tell anyone, tell your parents after you've settled in... but keep some for yourself."
After leaving those words, Bai Mo disappeared. Noel slowly walked out of the closet. His parents, who had just been murdered, were lying on the sofa, breathing slowly.
On the hills outside the town, Bai Mo and Arcueid arrived. Looking down at the town, Bai Mo sighed inwardly. He lay down on the grass, feeling somewhat helpless.
He did everything he could, but it was too late for some people. Roa was probably currently frantically researching the Magnetic Field Power he had unexpectedly acquired. After wreaking havoc in the town, he quickly left.
While resting, he felt the rejection from the world. Since the medal given by the Alaya Consciousness was not useful, he had to understand it in advance, even if the effect was minimal.
The next day, Ciel will lead the survivors away from here, trying to live as little as possible while minimizing the impact.
"Are you very tired? Bai Mo, you seem even more exhausted than during the battle with Crimson Moon. Your face is so pale. Did I drink too much blood?" Arcueid sat down beside him and leaned on his shoulder.
"No, as I said before, I am not from this world, and this world contains things like Alaya Consciousness and Gaia. I suppose it was my actions against time that upset something."
"I'm just a little weak, but I think I'll be fine once I leave this place."
Upon hearing Bai Mo's words, Arcueid's eyes lit up, as if a riddle had been solved, and she said with some delight:
"So now, does that mean I'm stronger?"
Her thoughts instantly drifted away, transforming into a stream of light that pointed directly to a location within the Inner Sea of the Planet.
The basement of the Millennium Castle.
For some reason, Arcueid had given up on the idea after failing to bring Bai Mo inside. However, after experiencing the magical house of a certain cat and a series of events involving Ciel, Arcueid suddenly felt a sense of crisis.
And so, a previously abandoned plan was quietly restarted.
Looking at the large cat before him, seemingly plotting something but also appearing restless, Bai Mo struck her head with a finger-blade and said:
"Unfortunately, I have some means to influence the world, so in a real fight, I'm still a bit stronger than you. And this rejection might be directed at those who have influenced the past; although I'm not sure, it certainly doesn't feel good."
You'd better behave yourself. You run into someone with the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception going home; I don't want anything to happen to you again.
Bai Mo couldn't read Arcueid's thoughts, and he had never quite understood why. Perhaps it was because this girl was special, or perhaps it was because her mind, like those of the Neco-Arc, had disappeared.
Therefore, Bai Mo could only rely on his understanding of the opposite sex and her to guess her thoughts.
This girl is probably just itching to experiment. After all, she just obtained the Magnetic Field Power, and given her personality, she naturally wants to try it out.
But... is she really a cat? She doesn't keep me up during the day, but she keeps me up at night. Bai Mo thought to herself. Arcueid, hearing these caring words, temporarily suppressed her plans with joy.
She wrapped her arms around her beloved's neck and pressed herself against him without hesitation. At that moment, Bai Mo felt a sense of helplessness, like someone who had worked all day and just wanted to sleep but was being tormented by the cat.
Arcueid took a deep breath; the scent of grass mingled with the warmth of her beloved's body, and for some reason, she felt a sense of familiarity.
Bai Mo pushed her away, saying somewhat helplessly, "Alright, let's find a way to make those cats leave a backup plan, then we'll leave. If we run into you at this time of day, things will get really messed up."
Upon hearing Bai Mo's words, Arcueid paused, looked around, and then, like a scientist struck by a flash of inspiration, jumped up excitedly, exclaiming, "I've got it! So that's how it is!"
"What are you thinking about?" Bai Mo asked, looking puzzled.
"I won't tell you, hehe." Arcueid bent down, revealing a charming smile. She took out the key, and in an instant, the two were back in the coffee shop.
"Bai Mo, go and order those cats around. I want to go check out the bedroom upstairs. Okay, see you tonight." Arcueid, like a little girl who had received a gift, rushed upstairs, lay down on the bed, and her legs swayed with joy.
Bai Mo looked puzzled, then shook his head helplessly.
He used his strength to grab Neco-Arc hiding behind the counter.
A short while later, the cat left with a strange device and headed straight for the bakery outside.
Meanwhile, in the bakery, Ciel sat with her family. She had already explained the whole story. Luckily, she had the Magnetic Field Power; otherwise, explaining so many things would have been a huge hassle.
"So that's how it is..." The mother looked at her daughter, her face full of heartache. Although Ciel had concealed some things from the Church, anyone could guess the hardships she had endured over the years.
"Elesia, it's alright now. Let's leave here and go somewhere else to make up for all the years you've lost, okay?"
Looking at his mother's face, Ciel nodded with tears in his eyes.
"And that young Asian man? We should thank her properly. Elesia, really, why didn't you let him stay? There are plenty of guest rooms in the house."
"What are you saying... It's alright, we'll see each other again." Ciel looked out the window, a blush creeping across her face. She quickly changed the subject, looking at her somewhat dazed father, and said:
"Dad, what's wrong? Haven't you recovered yet?"
"Yes..."
Ciel felt a pang of heartache. Was death really that devastating? Perhaps her mother was just putting on a brave face.
Then, her father's next words wiped away all her heartache.
"How beautiful! That blonde woman who appeared in that instant was like moonlight. And that man was quite handsome and had a great presence too. Are all East Asians like that?"
What an incredible couple... Quack! Elesia, why did you step on my foot?
Ciel's heavy leather boot heels landed on her father's toes, her smile sending a chill down one's spine.
"What are you talking about? I don't remember you drinking today. What do you mean by 'like moonlight'? And where did Dad get the idea that they're lovers?"
The mother, watching this scene, gave a meaningful smile and said:
"It's alright, our darling Elesia is beautiful too. Oh, and he even put the spilled cake back in its original shape. I'll bring it over right now."
The cake with lit candles was returned to the table. Seeing this familiar scene, Ciel let go of his feet. His mother turned off the lights, and the birthday song rang out in the small cake shop.
In the darkness, a single, glistening tear fell from Ciel's eye; for her, that moment was happiness.
Happy birthday, Elesia. Blow out the candles and make a wish.
Ciel slowly blew out the candlelight before him and made a wish in his heart.
Lord, thank you for sending him to me, and... Arcueid, don't think you've won just like that.
"I'll take him away from him sooner or later," she murmured, her voice soft yet incredibly determined.
The next day, Ciel left the town with his men, leaving it deserted. Soon the Church would notice and send people to investigate, but before that, someone else arrived even faster.
A white figure arrived in the town, quickly traversing every corner like a cat, but these corners had already been cleared away by Ciel, so she naturally couldn't find any clues.
But there were still some areas that hadn't been dealt with. She came to the lawn where Bai Mo and Arcueid had rested earlier.
"Strange, not only did Roa run away, but there's also another person's scent? And this scent... is it me? How strange... I'll keep an eye on it."
Sometimes, the reasons that change life choices are very, very small, so small that they are just a vague impression.
