Background and History

Millennium Castle and the Hunt for Roa

Arcueid spent thousands of years pursuing Roa after he tricked her into drinking blood and stole part of her power. Her existence revolved around that pursuit; Altrouge describes her former life in Millennium Castle as waiting like a machine, while Arcueid later admits that she believed she had no right to happiness 157 171 183 199.

She was also a prospective vessel for Crimson Moon. When Altrouge obtained Magnetic Field Power, Crimson Moon initially abandoned Arcueid in favor of her elder sister 167 173.

Meeting Bai Mo in Misaki

Arcueid introduces herself to Bai Mo as a vampire after receiving his help. His earlier attack has left lasting damage, weakening her enough for the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception to destroy her body. He reconstructs her through Asura Way, but restoring her flesh does not replenish the power needed to suppress her Bloodsucking Impulse 151 152 153.

Ciel demands that Bai Mo leave Arcueid behind because of the danger she poses. He refuses, placing himself between them and accepting responsibility for stopping Arcueid if she loses control. His protection becomes an important source of warmth and attachment for her 153.

As Roa’s revival approaches, Arcueid restores her combat functions without fully repairing her body, intending to defeat him before falling into slumber. Bai Mo challenges her willingness to sacrifice herself and tells her that her life and happiness belong to her. She begins imagining experiences beyond hunting Roa and insists on fighting so that she can live long enough to pursue them 166.

Roa’s Defeat and the Misunderstood Agreement

Arcueid traps Roa with Marble Phantasm and destroys most of his body, but his combination of magecraft and Magnetic Field Power allows him to regenerate. Bai Mo intervenes before Roa can kill her and repairs her injured arm 170.

Crimson Moon’s revival worsens Arcueid’s condition. After Bai Mo defeats Crimson Moon, Arcueid recovers her lost power and believes she can finally fulfill her agreement to send him home. However, she has mistaken his parallel world for a location in the Inner Sea of the Planet; her promised solution cannot take him where he needs to go 175 182 183 184.

Bai Mo forgives the misunderstanding but initially refuses to take her into the dangers awaiting him. Believing that he will abandon her and leave with Ciel instead, Arcueid manifests Millennium Castle and draws much of Misaki into Event Storage. Her attempt to transport Bai Mo into the castle’s basement fails because he does not belong to her world 185 186 187.

Crimson Moon exploits Arcueid’s weakened mental defenses, granting her Magnetic Field Power while establishing a presence within her. Bai Mo stabilizes her body, breaks the magical connections sustaining Event Storage, and feeds her his blood when she approaches exhaustion. His later reflection confirms that the incident did not injure Misaki’s inhabitants 187 188 189 200 828.

Uruk and Martial Training

Arcueid travels with Bai Mo to ancient Babylon and enjoys Uruk’s lively society. Bai Mo begins teaching her martial arts, while she and Crimson Moon establish an arrangement in which Arcueid handles outside activities and Crimson Moon cultivates within their shared consciousness 203 208 239.

Entrusted with Uruk’s defense, she stops Lahmu from exploding above the city and later imprisons the Thirteenth Grand Protector. Kawakami Gensai’s sacrificial attack gives her the brief opening needed to complete the latter feat 268 279.

Her rivalry with Sajyou Manaka culminates in a battle at 900,000 horsepower. Bai Mo redirects their collision into the sky and warns that another exchange could destroy Mesopotamian and neighboring civilizations. The released power attracts Dark Leiao, who exchanges his martial insights for a chance to study her copy of Ryougi Lataib 295 302.

Chaldea and the Preserved Lostbelts

Arcueid later creates a full-scale replica of Chaldea on Mount Narodnaya with Marble Phantasm. She also provides a fallback during Bai Mo’s dangerous undertakings and repeatedly urges him to rest after major battles 400 406 488.

Behind the scenes, she fights alien beasts carrying system remnants. Recovering those remnants expands and stabilizes the space used to house transferred Lostbelts. Her schedule leaves almost no time for rest, and she compresses it further to visit Chaldea as a consultant and keep Bai Mo company 494 523 596.

Before the Britain Lostbelt expedition, she asks Morgan to store her Marble Phantasm as protection against spacetime attacks, recognizing a weakness in Bai Mo’s otherwise formidable combat capabilities 761.

Her sheltered upbringing leaves her poorly equipped to understand deception and social arrangements. She mistakes Bai Mo’s destination, takes Roa’s advertised power at face value, and is shocked by his explanation of how he secured investors. These misunderstandings have direct consequences for both her alliance with Bai Mo and Roa’s plans 169 184 185.

Her attachment can become intensely possessive. Fear of abandonment drives the Event Storage incident, and she repeatedly imagines imprisoning Bai Mo in Millennium Castle to keep him safe and close. Her jealousy is especially fierce toward Ciel, even when she claims she could accept Bai Mo loving other women 186 187 199 231 757.

Nevertheless, she can restrain herself when Bai Mo’s needs take priority. She temporarily tolerates Ciel’s involvement, avoids fighting Shiki while Bai Mo is exhausted, and devotes herself to the demanding work required to preserve the Lostbelts 192 488 596.
