What he desired
Inside the royal palace in Uruk, steam rises from a magnificent, large hot spring. Fragrant flower petals float in the vast pool, while precious medicinal herbs lie at the bottom.
Using such a large quantity of treasures just for bathing is beyond luxurious; it's simply wasteful.
But the owner of this place has the right to waste it. Gilgamesh lay in the pool, stretching his muscles and bones. His body, which had not been used for a long time, was like an old engine being restarted, making the sound of bones loosening.
"How is it? It's been so long since I've used this. Taking a bath after drinking is absolutely delightful. Enjoy it; it's rare for me to be this generous."
This hot spring, which was reserved for royalty, now had another person present.
Bai Mo also lay in the water, but compared to Gilgamesh's enjoyment, he didn't feel much. He looked at the medicinal herbs at the bottom of the pool, which were mostly medicines to soothe nerves, calm the mind, and promote sleep, and gave him a somewhat helpless look.
"Then you should soak in the water more; you really need these things."
"If you're tired, you should rest. I'm not going to die suddenly." Gilgamesh a long sigh and shifted into a more comfortable position. "Heh, if only a few maids could give me a massage, that would be perfect."
Bai Mo was completely submerged in the water, his eyes gazing at the Tiandao:
"You don't even have any maids anymore? Heh, it seems you're much more reliable now that you've found the elixir. If you were in Fuyuki now, I'd probably approve of you even more."
He assumed Gilgamesh had sent all the palace maids out to serve on the front lines. But Gilgamesh replied:
"You're overthinking it. I've still kept the most basic maids. The reason I'm not letting them in is because you're here. I don't want to be torn to shreds by that madwoman outside!"
Gilgamesh waved his hand and said, "Bai Mo is taking a bath here. If I were to bring in a few maids to massage him, even if he just sleeps on the side, Arcueid would definitely tear him to pieces when he comes out."
Hearing this, Bai Mo was both amused and exasperated:
"Hehe, it seems I've disturbed you. I'll head out now. Gorgon is almost here; I'll go check on the way."
"Foolish. I'll enjoy massages while I sleep after my bath. Like I said, you should rest when you're tired. If you keep relying on your physical strength, your mind will eventually give out."
Just as he finished speaking, another voice replied from the side:
"Yes, you and Enlil are complete opposites. You really should give yourself a break after this is over."
The two looked in the direction of the sound and saw a handsome man lying in the water. His appearance was somewhat familiar. Gilgamesh said from the side:
"It seems the potency of my pool is truly extraordinary; even the Water God has come. So, it's finally willing to return to its original form?"
The person before them was none other than the water god Enki. Previously, he had always appeared as an old man, but now he had changed to a form that was more in line with his appearance in mythology.
"I have already turned into yellow sand, how can a brief rain turn me back into a riverbed? My essence is irreversible."
The reason I'm here is because of you, outsider. Now that you've driven Enlil to this point, I've come to fulfill my promise.
However, before the final battle, you must have some questions for me.
Enki's words were filled with a helpless sigh. Seeing this, Bai Mo didn't hold back and asked directly:
"What exactly did Bai Lubao say to Enlil, and what is his motive for destroying humanity so recklessly? Although we know he's not mentally stable, this is just too illogical."
Upon hearing Bai Mo's question, Enki looked up at the sky, as if lost in memories.
"What the soul from outside the boundary said to him is unknown, but what is known is that after that, he became convinced that this Magnetic Field Power was the only way to turn the tide of the battle."
But this power also brought hidden dangers, as it gave other gods the possibility of surpassing him. At first, a superficial peace could be maintained, but as Enlil's obsession with power deepened, one day he finally turned his sword against his own brothers and sisters.
Only Ereshkigal and Ishtar survived, because everyone initially drew their power from the stone tablet, which was the fragment of the soul of the Bai Lubao.
If Ishtar knew of such a thing, who knows what she would do. As for Ereshkigal, she had always been in the Underworld; the gods even completely ignored her during their discussions, until recently when the stone tablet actively sought them out.
Hearing Enki's words, Bai Mo shook his head helplessly. This could be considered a blessing in disguise.
Enki took Gilgamesh's wine cup, took a sip, and continued:
"As for his actions, I'm afraid he probably didn't care at all from beginning to end."
"Ha?"
Gilgamesh and Bai Mo both expressed their doubts, but the next moment Gilgamesh seemed to have thought of something, and his brows furrowed so deeply they almost touched.
"He has always sought greater power, but this world does not allow him to break through any further. Even after killing all his brothers and sisters, seizing their divine cores, and altering their connection to the Root to the greatest extent possible, he still could not break through 700,000 horses."
He released the souls from beyond the realm, studied the Demon God, and even extended his reach into the Sea of Imaginary Numbers to obtain his current power. But this is the limit; if he wants more, he can only dominate the entire Earth and completely change this planet.
In his pursuit of power, he gave up many things, including... love.
Humanity's Calamity were largely due to collateral damage. Gorgon was an experimental subject for creating Demon God, which led to the Mesopotamia; and in the end, she was completely abandoned as a pawn in order to test the World-Destroying Demon God.
The attack on Uruk was also to test the new Lahmu, since the best way to test an army's strength is to invade a country, isn't it?
Upon hearing Enki's words, Bai Mo's expression froze. Then, a chilling laugh echoed from the warm pool.
Bai Mo rubbed his head, gave a cold laugh, and stood up, saying, "The hot spring water's getting a bit cold, I'm leaving now. Hopefully, in the upcoming final battle, this guy won't hide in the back like last time."
