The Renowned Dragon
The Chaldea didn't seem to care much about such a threat. In fact, they were quite used to this kind of situation where "I was about to say something, but then the wyvern showed up."
"Were all the dragons you encountered this big before?"
"What?! How big can a wyvern be...?"
Before he could finish speaking, a pitch-black figure that Shrouding Heaven and Blotting Out the Sun appeared in front of Bai Mo. It was a giant dragon the size of a hill, its scales as black as deep rock, and a pair of ancient rock-like armor that grotesquely pointed upwards.
It has a distinct mark on its chest, where a powerful force surges.
In an instant, everyone in Chaldea fell silent; the guy in front of them was an old acquaintance.
"This is... Fafnir?"
The black dragon before them was none other than Fafnir, the infamous evil dragon from the Orléans Singularity, Siegfried's nemesis, and the very same evil dragon from the Song of the Nibelungen.
The Chaldea members suddenly had a strange sense of déjà vu, like when a tough boss in the starting village of a game suddenly appears as easily as a roadside monster later on.
There was no time for everyone to marvel. The evil dragon spread its wings and spewed out Shrouding Heaven and Blotting Out the Sun the sky. The area within dozens of miles turned into a sea of fire, but the area where Bai Mo was located remained untouched by the flames.
It was as if an invisible barrier surrounded Bai Mo and Ortlinde. The flames surged towards them as if they were alive, but could not advance an inch.
"What an incredible creation! Legend has it that the hero Siegfried bathed in its blood and swallowed its heart to gain power? I'm quite curious about the structure of this thing."
With a snap of his fingers, Bai Mo instantly reversed the direction of the flames, as if a giant hand had woven a silken thread into an incomparably sharp flaming spear, which hurtled towards Fafnir in the sky.
Seeing this, Fafnir spread his rock-like wings, and then, these wings, which were impossible to fly, actually carried Fafnir's mountain-like body to dodge and weave, as nimbly as a bat in the night.
"Alright, stop wasting time. Show us what other tricks you have up your sleeve. If you don't have any..."
Bai Mo spoke softly, and Fafnir in the air seemed to understand, a glint of wisdom flashing in its eyes as it weighed the pros and cons.
The spear woven from flames was like a nimble sea serpent, relentlessly biting Fafnir, and was clearly faster than him. Fafnir's figure was so fast that the Chaldea members could only see a large black shadow constantly thrashing about.
Even so, sections of broken rock scales continued to fall off, like raindrops. The sound of scales exploding echoed in the sky, accompanied by the evil dragon's furious roar.
"This doesn't seem like dragon hunting at all..."
"It's like toying with a rabbit."
Chaldea and Ortlinde found it hard to accept what they were seeing. Normally, Fafnir would require meticulous preparation and a powerful warrior to defeat him.
Instead of being trampled and run around like a stray dog.
Fafnir in the air seemed to have had enough of this situation. With a roar, the mark on its chest emitted a brilliant light, and it unleashed a deafening roar at the sharp spear in front of it.
"Roar--!"
A golden power could be clearly seen surging within the roar. After such a roar, the spear in front of them seemed like a fish facing a rapid current, its movements slowed down.
"Is the feeling of certain Magnetic Field Power something that has been altered by someone?"
Bai Mo looked at Fafnir in the air and murmured to himself. This was the first creature he had seen since he came here, so he naturally had to study it carefully.
"And is it that your wisdom is ultimately lacking? With such a backup plan, why didn't you try to attack me?"
With a thought, the spear resembled a blooming lotus flower, and from its center, a sharp blue needle shot towards Fafnir, piercing straight through its massive maw.
A hint of envy appeared in Ortlinde's eyes as she watched Bai Mo effortlessly dispatch the enemy.
Throughout, Bai Mo used the power exhaled by Fafnir, and the difference in power between different users was vividly demonstrated at this moment.
Just when everyone thought the problem was solved, Bai Mo frowned slightly. The giant dragon in the sky did not stop roaring, even though its throat was completely pierced and its head was burned.
Immediately afterwards, a powerful energy surged from Fafnir's mouth, bursting forth with light, and a golden breath left a deep wound on the Daichi. This was not fire, but a pure roar of energy.
The Chaldea were shocked. They had dealt with Fafnir quite a bit before, so when did this guy learn this move?
The breath raged, tearing the entire Daichi apart. Intense energy surged, appearing from a distance like a glowing dam.
Fafnir let out a low growl, looking down at the swirling smoke below, a hint of hatred and pleasure flashing in its eyes, but the next moment, its gaze froze, its pupils contracting.
"So you finally brought out your trump card? Your power is considerable for a dragon, what a pity."
Eight hundred thousand horsepower of power -- Magnetic Field Heavenly Blade.
An invisible blade cleaved Fafnir in two, like a roast chicken sliced in half. With a deafening roar, the two pieces of the evil dragon fell to the ground, splattering blood everywhere.
Bai Mo reached out and ripped out the heart from its left side. The bone-like heart was still beating. Although it was mostly useless, Bai Mo was still very interested in collecting such things.
Bai Mo casually placed the heart into the Gate of Babylon and turned to ask Ortlinde:
Are you alright?
"It's nothing, I'm used to flying."
That being said, her expression was far from pleasant. Indeed, back when she was still Valkyrie, Ortlinde naturally dealt frequently with the skies.
But this time, when Bai Mo carried her into the air, Ortlinde felt that her previous flights were as gentle as a baby stroller in a park.
"Wait, something seems off."
Bai Mo pulled Ortlinde aside, and saw that Fafnir, whose heart had been removed, now seemed to be burning, with wisps of black mist rising from his body. With a twisting sound, the evil dragon stood up again.
"Is it another resurrection Magecraft?"
Bai Mo frowned, but a solution quickly came to his mind.
"No, but this is definitely not right. In the words of those Magecraft, Fafnir is a phenomenon known as the Evil Dragon Phenomenon. When an individual's evil accumulates to a certain degree, it will transform into a dragon."
You did indeed defeat this Fafnir, but the entity within it capable of dragon transformation doesn't seem to exist in physical form. Furthermore... its 'evil' is more than enough to allow it to dragonize again."
Upon hearing Shi's explanation, Bai Mo's lips twitched.
"This is truly... amazing."
"It probably exists in the form of a soul. Bai Mo, don't try to absorb it using those messy Primordial Spirit techniques; it's unclean."
As Fafnir's body gradually pieced together and he stood up roaring again, a hint of mockery and ruthlessness flashed in its eyes. Seeing this, Ortlinde said with some distress, "If only the weapon were still here..."
"Your weapons are capable of handling this situation, right?"
As Bai Mo spoke, he took out a long spear from the Gate of Babylon, which glowed as if it were made of light, with strange patterns shimmering on its tip, all under Ortlinde's incredulous gaze.
