Into Imaginary Numbers Once More
Have you all heard the story of Solomon?
After the decline of the Greater Source of the Divine Age, the phenomenal manipulation techniques used by Magecraft — Magecraft —basically all relied on the system established by King Solomon. In light of his status during his lifetime, the Magecraft world still refers to him as: the King of Magecraft.
One of the most talked-about stories about this king is the three mysteries surrounding his relationship with the Queen of Sheba.
In the Salem church, the Chaldea were performing Solomon and the Queen of Sheba, a play chosen by Shakespeare and others.
On stage, guided by the shepherd Queen of Sheba finally dealt with the annoying gatekeeper and arrived before King Solomon. Facing this renowned Wise King Gilgamesh, the Queen of Sheba did not ask any political questions, but instead posed three riddles.
The first two questions went smoothly, until the third question...
"--The ocean is calm, and a ship is sailing against the wind. Dark clouds can be seen in the direction the navigator points; the ship's preparations are not foolproof."
When Mata Hari, who was playing Queen of Sheba, asked the question according to the script, Robin Hood, who was in charge, was stumped. He carefully flipped through the script in his hand, but no matter how he looked at it, there were only two questions written on it.
Robin Hood quickly cast a pleading look at Mash and Ritsuka, who were both stunned for a moment. The stage instantly fell silent, with only Mata Hari's somewhat witty words keeping the atmosphere alive.
"What are those writers up to? Master, help me figure this out!"
Robin Hood asked for help in a low voice. Just as Ritsuka was pondering, Dr. Roman's voice came from the other end of the communication.
The answer is the nation.
Roman's voice was very calm, and before anyone could react, he gave a nonchalant reply.
"This question is an allegory for the positions of both sides. A skilled captain can perform better in headwinds, while a navigator will sound the alarm when faced with an unavoidable crisis."
Beneath the calm surface lie hidden currents, for they are not a single entity. Only by weathering the Storm together can the ships witness the dawn.
In Chaldea, Olga Marie praised without reservation, "As expected of a veteran employee of Chaldea, you are indeed very knowledgeable. I didn't expect the doctor to have such knowledge of the legend of King Solomon."
The scriptures mostly gloss over this question.
Roman forced a bitter smile that looked more like a grimace, then turned his gaze to Bai Mo on the other side. This idea of seeing the rainbow after the storm won the unanimous approval of the Puritans who had traveled across the ocean.
Ritsuka and the others breathed a sigh of relief. Suddenly, Ritsuka noticed that the judge's seat in the far corner was empty.
In the dark dungeon, there was only one prisoner, Tituba. Upon seeing her true appearance, she was quite different from what Bai Mo had imagined. She did not look like a slave who toiled all day long, but rather like a pampered noblewoman.
However, her condition was far from optimistic. Her body was covered in marks of torture, and her dark skin was crisscrossed with bleeding wounds. After checking her condition, it was confirmed that she was still breathing, but if no one took care of her, she might not make it through the night.
"This guy seems a bit out of place as Tituba. Or is it just that the Randolph family's food is too good?"
Bai Mo frowned and spoke. He sealed the room with his Magnetic Field Power and then began Cellular Regeneration therapy. As soon as the power surged in, the door behind him, which had clearly been sealed by the Magnetic Field Power, seemed to have a puzzle piece removed.
The Magnetic Field Power still exists, like the steel bars in a building, but the cement has been removed. Consequently, the inside and outside are now completely transparent.
"An accomplice of the witch has infiltrated! Guards! Guards!"
A man dressed entirely in black, wearing a black top hat, stood at the doorway and shouted loudly. This guy appeared quite abruptly. Bai Mo's mind stirred, and Magnetic Field Power silently surged from behind him, preparing to silence the man.
This mere few meters felt like the distance between the Earth and the Moon. A distorted sound echoed through the town of Salem, and in the empty dungeon, the bars and other objects were smoothly and completely sliced open.
Not far away, an eagle-like demon took in all of this.
"This place really is a stage. Not only can the actors be moved around at will, but even the set space can be manipulated at will? It's a good thing I told Circe to keep an eye on things beforehand. This must be its last resort."
Bai Mo's somewhat helpless voice echoed in this empty world, which resembled a deep sea yet emitted a distorted seven-colored light. Tituba beside him opened her eyes with difficulty, looking around with incomprehensible confusion.
"Is this the helplessness that only abducted children feel? Opening their eyes, all they see is an unfamiliar environment and unfamiliar people. But this is much better than prison, though it doesn't look like the kind of environment where they'd encounter caravans on the road."
"Excuse me, sir, is this place?"
Before Tituba could finish speaking, Bai Mo grabbed her shoulder and pulled her up rapidly, trying to fly away. Immediately afterward, a massive whale charged in at incredible speed, carrying immense power.
"Ugh! Where am I? I feel like I'd be safer in jail, right?"
"Is this your first time here? This is the Sea of Imaginary Numbers, and this giant whale is roughly one of the creatures here. As for why it attacked me... well, I did have some unpleasantness with a similar creature before."
"Your unhappiness sounds terrible, doesn't it?"
Tituba watched as the giant whale turned its head again and charged forward menacingly. At this moment, she truly understood what it meant to be like a mantis trying to stop a chariot. However, in the next instant, a powerful energy, as swift as the wind, enveloped Bai Mo's hand.
At the same time, the Magnetic Field Power surged, and facing the giant whale, Bai Mo, pulling the howling Tituba, slammed it hard into the whale's head like a harpoon.
With a deafening roar, a violent gust of wind echoed through the Sea of Imaginary Numbers. Then Tituba stared in disbelief as the giant whale vanished into a tiny dot, disappearing completely, like a bird breaking free from its cage.
"Can it be reshaped countless times here? Its growth potential seems to have reached its limit, but judging from Enlil's previous modifications, this thing still has quite a lot of room for improvement."
After Bai Mo blasted the thing away, he simply waved his hand and even casually commented. Tituba was stunned for a second, then looked at Bai Mo with shining eyes.
"Sir, no, great hero, I'd like to know if you have any responsibilities? If not, I sincerely invite you to become my partner. With my wisdom and your strength, we can definitely accomplish something great!"
"So you're not Tituba after all. If you are Servant summoned by the Counter Force, I would like you to explain the situation regarding Salem."
"Sigh, usually when someone says something like that, it means there's no chance."
Tituba put on a pitiful appearance, but on the other end of the walkie-talkie, Dr. Roman gave a somewhat troubled reminder:
"Mr. Bai Mo, this kind of woman is very good at deceiving people. She looks pitiful, but in reality, she's probably just like Koyanskaya, judging people based on their first glance."
"Ritsuka seems to have run into some trouble after you left. It's still manageable, but it'd be best to go back soon..."
"Ah, that's strange. Is someone talking bad about me?" Tituba sneezed, then secretly glanced at Bai Mo, who remained expressionless, and said with a hint of helplessness:
"Alright, I can see you're really anxious. Now's not the time to play tricks. You guessed right, I am indeed Servant summoned by the Counter Force, here to deal with this Singularity created by Demon God Raum, one of the Seventy-Two Demon Gods."
To some extent, we share common goals, but before we officially commit to cooperation, I have a few questions I'd like to ask you.
