Corpse tide
"Is he your grandfather?"
"Yes."
"Please accept my condolences."
Bai Mo looked at Lavinia, who seemed to have caught her breath, and sighed deeply. Lavinia did not wail and cry; her face was even somewhat calm. This was not because she was indifferent to the departure of her loved ones, but because the grief had exceeded the limits of her mind.
When faced with unbearable pain, the brain considerately supports it, preventing one from choking. Then, over the years, it gradually breaks it down, feeding that sorrow to the person.
"This is the mountain behind your house, right? It's been distorted and hidden here. Have you been in here all this time?"
"Hmm... that guy, he wanted my grandfather and me to die slowly in this cold cave, didn't he? We're not residents of Salem; we were dragged here by that guy."
"Because of Abigail?"
While maintaining her body temperature, Bai Mo tried to provide her with nutrients, but it was all in vain. After regaining basic consciousness, Old Whateley used dark True Magic to nourish Lavinia with his own soul, temporarily saving her life. Even so, it only extended her life by one more day.
Its very existence has been distorted to such an extent that it's a miracle it still exists for even one more day.
Lavinia nodded, then shook her head.
"The whole place in Salem, everything, was for her, but the one who caused this tragedy was the guy who brought us in. His goal was probably to break Abigail's spirit, which is why he did this..."
Lavinia clenched her fists, the frail girl filled with resentment. The Queen of Sheba, seeing this, frowned and sighed:
"Sigh, I guess according to Raum's script, after a series of blows, Abigail will come here, personally kill Old Whateley who guards Lavinia, and then see her dead friend."
In terms of their purpose, they are truly pure; I wonder who these Demon God learned it from.
But why would you do that? Why set up such a huge scheme just to torment that child?
"No... Abigail, she is the key."
Just as Lavinia was about to speak again, a sound echoed through the cave. Bai Mo followed the echo and retrieved a stone engraved with echo Magecraft.
"I didn't expect you to come after all. I originally thought I could accomplish this under your influence, but it seems I underestimated you."
"Raum? You little devil, when did you start liking to hide?"
The Queen of Sheba was somewhat annoyed. If Raum revealed his true form, she could whip him like a spinning top, but the guy was still hiding, and for now he only dared to use a sound-recording device.
"Queen of Sheba, one who once walked with my lord Solomon, look at yourself now, reduced to a lackey of the Counter Force, how repulsive you are! Shut your mouth and listen quietly to my grand ambition."
But the next moment, the device in his hand was crushed by Bai Mo.
"Enough with the nonsense. Ritsuka needs us. We haven't found Abigail yet, but we must settle this child first."
The Queen of Sheba nodded in agreement. She was clearly not too concerned about Raum's words. Rather, the fact that this guy had to collect 50,000 people as a source of magic power indicated that the other Demon God did not want to provide him with assistance.
What's the point of listening to a bunch of crazy people who don't even want to talk to you? Besides, we're in a hurry right now.
Bai Mo and the others moved quickly toward Salem, and just as he had expected, Ritsuka had already been besieged by zombies not long before.
The Servant gathered in the room, where, thanks to Circe's barrier and the food provided by Bai Mo, Servant could unleash their full power. Ritsuka, watching the approaching ghouls and the fleeing townspeople, slapped herself in exasperation.
"Master..."
"Forget it, even though they're all a bunch of damned bastards, I wouldn't be able to eat if I saw them splattered with blood all over the place."
Many of the Servant nodded in agreement. Nezha clenched his fist and said, "He seems to have more strength than before."
"It's probably because the barrier's output power has decreased. After all, in order to restrict Bai Mo, it probably doesn't have much magic power left to burn. That kind of great transfer Magecraft before was no joke."
But I can only contribute a little. I'll be here to support you. None of you are allowed to overreach!
Sanson was the first to rush out, and for a short time, the ghouls' offensive was somewhat contained, but they still managed to breach many points. Fortunately, in the face of danger, these guys were quite fast runners; of course, there were also some unlucky ones who couldn't escape.
"Wait, help me! Don't leave me here!"
Ritsuka looked in the direction of the sound and saw the guy who had proposed to Mata Hari on stage. Ritsuka had just broken the guy's shinbone with Nezha, and the guy couldn't run at all.
"I have already been punished, I have always been devout, I have atoned for my sins, you cannot just abandon me, abandon the believers of the Lord!"
"Shut up!" Ritsuka pointed at him fiercely, her temper flaring, and said through gritted teeth:
"I came to save people not because of any divine will, but because I was telling myself that maybe some of these guys would pick up their lost conscience... at least they shouldn't let those children watch their parents being eaten like bones."
But you! I've seen through you. You're someone who, for your own selfish gain, can frame the innocent without a shred of guilt. I won't save you; you can just die there!
Ritsuka turned around without hesitation, leaving only the man's sorrowful cries and the sound of flesh being devoured.
"There don't seem to be any ghouls to the north, Robin Hood. Stretch their lines and move north. Circe, I'll leave the large-scale clearing to you. Nezha, deal with those veteran ghouls. Sanson, check on the wounded. Mata, stay around Circe and don't let the ghouls bother her!"
Ritsuka made a very clear tactical plan, and finally, as Circe's magic surged, a huge magic cannonball fell from the sky. After a loud bang, most of the ghouls were dealt with.
"Phew, finally it's all taken care of. Luckily there's enough space to the north. Now we just need to deal with these few veteran ghouls, and the rest won't be a problem."
Ritsuka of relief, but not long after, she smelled a bloody odor. At the same time, there was a familiar scent of honey and milk. She turned her head and saw Abigail walking into the town square with her eyes closed, as if sleepwalking.
Hopkins, who had been lying on the ground, had somehow transformed into a ghoul, opening his blood-red maw to bite at Abigail!
"Oh no!"
Ritsuka was shocked. Robin Hood had moved away for tactical depth, Circe had just finished his outburst and needed to recover, Nezha was still dealing with those troublesome veteran ghouls.
She hurriedly reached out, conjuring Grand to try and stop it, but her long-standing combat instincts told her it was too late.
Suddenly, several loud explosions echoed through the area, and the elder ghouls instantly turned into a rain of blood. A figure descended from the sky like a meteor, landing directly on Hopkins ' head.
Hopkins, who had become a ghoul, was laid to rest, literally merging completely with the Daichi in the form of powder.
