Taking Divine Power
In the West, within the Vatsa Kingdom, a grand sacrificial ceremony was being held on a small island in a lake. The king threw offerings into the water, and as dozens of Brahmin priests prayed, a stream of water gushed forth, from which a figure emerged.
"King of the Vatsa Kingdom, having accepted your sacrifice, now, state your wish."
"Great God, I believe you already know that on the edge of Hastinapura, those ignorant, lowly peasants have actually built a city. Those lowly people who should be serving us Kshatriyas and Brahmins are now plotting a rebellion."
Great water god, display your mighty power and flood the city of those lowly people.
The king spoke with righteous indignation. Upon hearing Varuna narrowed his eyes, but he still did not step out of the waterfall.
"My king, the ruler of that city has already been recognized. If you wish to wage war as a Kshatriya, then I will not fight for you. Choose another wish."
"Then grant me your great power, and let me accomplish all this!"
The water god remained silent for a moment, then the water surged and transformed into a clear spring before the king.
"Whoever enters this spring will receive five-tenths of my power; only one person, for only half a month."
After leaving these words, the water god disappeared. The king eagerly plunged into the spring. At this time, similar things were happening in various parts of India.
Faced with Duryodhana financial offensive, the instigation of Shakuni, and the fact that almost all Kshatriyas did not want to see a country free from caste oppression, countless countries joined this movement.
Countless gods received sacrifices to varying degrees, but none were willing to personally intervene; they mostly offered some form of power. Regarding this event, the gods shared a consensus:
Are you kidding me? Attacking Sweetness City? Do you think you have too little karma, or are you tired of living?
Just give us some power, do a shoddy job, enough to justify the sacrifice. It's just a one-time offering, why risk your life? We're not Kama, knowing full well that one of the Trimurti is protecting us, yet we recklessly charge headlong into Myoken Divine Wheel.
In the Sweetness City, Kama sneezed and lay on his bed, looking exhausted.
"Sigh, did you overexert yourself? Did the high workload start you off and cause you to catch a cold?"
"This cold is really bad; even gods can catch it."
Bai Mo, standing to the side, joked that during this time, Kama had worked very hard. She had made major renovations to her temple, disguised herself as a human, and listened to the stories of many residents in the city.
Some people suffered immense harm in their home countries, or even had family members who were enslaved and abused there. In order to carefully determine the punishment, Kama even traveled to the Hall of Enma, the Enma of Dharma, to seek a basis for his judgment.
Over the Tianxia, the person that Kama was impersonating has become a celebrity in Sweetness City.
There was a knock on the door, and Yudhishthira was standing outside. Bai Mo left the room, opened the door, and Yudhishthira first bowed, then asked:
"Mr. Bai Mo, is Karna there? I'm waiting for him to play a few rounds with me."
Yudhishthira flicked the dice in his hand, while Bai Mo, trying to maintain his composure, said with a hint of helplessness:
"Gambling has been banned in Sweetness City."
"What? When did this happen?"
"After you finished playing with Karna last time..."
Yudhishthira looked pained and said, "That's such a pity. As king, you must set an example."
Bai Mo shook his head helplessly, then looked at the altar not far away and said, "What preparations have you made? There will likely be a major battle in Sweetness City soon. What will you choose?"
From a strategic point of view, it's better to retreat now, after all, dozens of countries have declared war, and some are even resorting to sacrifices to invoke the power of the gods.
Yudhishthira shook his head and looked at the country.
"We've been on the run for so long, it would be terrible to keep running. However, I think we really should consider leaving this place, but this time it won't be running away, it will be moving forward."
Upon hearing Yudhishthira's words, Bai Mo nodded slightly, the meaning of which was clear. The enemy would arrive tomorrow, and Duryodhana and the others would certainly come as well. At that time, with the Hastinapura open, the Pandavas could bypass the main force and return directly to their kingdom.
He Yudhishthira the first legal heir, and if he returns, Bhishma's great hand will directly crush Dhritarashtra's side.
"However, I will allow Arjuna and Bhima to stay. We are deeply grateful for your care; how can we not repay you? Please do not refuse this."
Bai Mo didn't say much, just nodded.
In the distance, the priest lit a fire, and the entire Sweetness City was bathed in light. At that moment, those who had been stranded there began to offer prayers to the flames.
Bai Mo's figure flashed and disappeared from the spot, returning to his room. He stood by the window, looking at the raging flames, and turned to Kama, asking:
Are you ready?
However, Kama, lying on the bed, remained silent, as was her usual self. She raised her eyes to look at the distant flames and muttered, "No... maybe we should just forget about it."
"Hmm?" Bai Mo, somewhat puzzled, while Kama lay on the bed, drawing circles with his fingers.
"I've been looking into this a bit lately... This divine position might have a bigger impact than I thought. I'm a little worried about whether I can handle it; the responsibility involved makes me feel somewhat... anxious."
Kama sighed softly, while Bai Mo gave him a subtle look.
"Alright then, if you can't do it, then create a god instead."
"Shouldn't you be cheering me on at a time like this? Even though I brought it up, your reaction really hurts me!"
Kama looked like he was about to cry, while Bai Mo shook his head with a smile and said, "Many times, things are beyond our control. Challenges only come after we've made thorough preparations. It's never that smooth sailing."
But based on my experience, I can confidently tell you that when faced with this kind of situation, don't worry about whether you can do your best; just give it your all.
That way, at least we won't have any regrets, right?
Hearing Bai Mo's words, Kama got up, clutching her pillow, and looked at the raging flames in the distance. Over time, seeing the misery of those people and hearing their helplessness under various forms of oppression, she gradually stopped taking it all for granted.
"Besides, leave the problem of insufficient ability to me. After all, I am your Master."
Kama took a deep breath, then stood up, clenching his fists as if to encourage himself.
"Seriously, now that things have come to this, it's not like we can't refuse even if we want to."
