Arc 4The Ginseng and the Journey
Fang Zelin saved a ginseng spirit, gained thirty years of cultivation, and began traveling toward Jiangnan while tending his spirit rice and helping people along the way. As rumors of unrest and supernatural threats spread, he joined Song Zheli’s group to explore Falling Stream Mountain.
- Fang Zelin learned from Li Tongming that cultivators existed, though finding them was difficult, while the white deer offered him a three-thousand-year-old ginseng in exchange for his guidance.
- Qingyun followed his divination to Wangqing Mountain and tried to seize the ripened ginseng spirit, but Fang Zelin refused to devour it and used the Treatise on the Supreme One's Response to suppress Qingyun’s inner demon.
- The ginseng spirit gave Fang Zelin ginseng juice, which added thirty years of cultivation when he drank it, and Qingyun later entered Seeking Dao Mountain after encountering Fang Zelin there.
- Fang Zelin began brewing spirit-rice wine, shared cooked spirit rice with Zhang Weichu, He Chenyi, the white deer, and the tiger demon, then set out toward Jiangnan and watered farmland along the way.
- In Qinlan City, Fang Zelin overheard scholars discussing his poems and warnings that strange spirits might signal trouble for Great Jin, and meanwhile, a weasel threatened Li Guangfeng’s family after he struck it.
- Fang Zelin’s peace spell pinned the weasel when it entered Li Guangfeng’s home, destroying its body and cultivation, and the village head recognized Fang Zelin’s protection and told the villagers to keep it secret.
- At Falling Stream Mountain, Fang Zelin heard Song Zheli’s legend of a sword splitting the mountain, accepted his invitation to explore, and began using Supreme Sensitivity after finding nothing unusual with Spiritual Power.
