Qingyuan True Lord Wendao visited Qi Yun to propose an alliance ahead of the Great Tide of Time and asked him to refine the Immortal-Slaying Dao Fruit. After several days of consideration, Qi Yun agreed to the proposal and sent Cai Shen to deliver his answer.
Qi Yun refined the Immortal-Slaying Dao Fruit at the Sword Pavilion, awakening a new Sword Intent and freeing the sword Dao lineage from its suppression. Following the remnant thought’s guidance west, he faced a probing attack from the World-Honored One but continued toward the ancient city, where something seemed to be awakening.
Qi Yun reached Chang'an and inherited the Great Tang Emperor’s united Sword Dao, along with the duty to protect Xuanhuang. As the ancient city faded, Qi Yun returned toward Xuanhuang, determined to choose his own path and face those threatening the realm.
Qi Yun returned to Xuanhuang after his journey to Chang'an and learned that news of the Great Tide of Time had spread, with factions preparing and overseas Buddhist cultivators assembling. He called a Dao Discussion Assembly for three months later, intending to force the hidden powers to reveal their plans.
As the Great Tide of Time approached, Qi Yun summoned the factions’ True Lords and declared that Xuanhuang faced danger but that he had a countermeasure. After the assembly, he privately explained that he had meant to establish his authority and position the True Lords as pieces on his board; Qingyuan later visited him and agreed that the Sword Pavilion would guard Xuanhuang.
Qi Yun invaded the Pure Land and crippled its bodhisattvas before destroying the Grand Reception Formation they were preparing for the World-Honored One. After returning to Green Mountain Daoist Temple, he learned the Great Tide of Time would arrive in a little over a month and began calculating his next move.
As the Great Tide of Time approached and the Xuanhuang Home Realm’s barrier weakened, Qi Yun tested the World-Honored One’s power and learned that Dao Kings might overwhelm even him. He organized the True Lords to prepare Hunyuan Great Luo Golden Heaven, a formation meant to suppress invading Dao Kings, and began building it as the realm’s strange changes worsened.
The Great Tide of Time tore open the Xuanhuang Home Realm’s barrier, and Qi Yun used the Hunyuan Great Luo Golden Heaven formation to repel the World-Honored One’s first attack. The tide continued to threaten the realm, and Qi Yun prepared to hold the formation against the Dao Kings’ return.
As the Great Tide of Time battered Xuanhuang and seven Dao Kings watched from fissures in the realm barrier, Qi Yun completed his [Primordial Unity] world and used it to repel the World-Honored One’s attack. He left the other Dao Kings reassessing him as he calmly challenged them to act.
Qi Yun endured probes from seven Dao Kings in the Great Void Hall and promised that Xuanhuang would survive the coming storm. As he began recovering, True Lord Contemplating the One watched the events from the Long River of Time and said it was not yet time to act.
Qi Yun entered seclusion to seek the Xuanhuang Home Realm’s aid against the seven Dao Kings, and All Wonders Heaven’s indistinct figure lent him the realm’s power after examining his Dao. He emerged with his strength restored and challenged the Dao Kings to face him in person as their seven gazes lit up.
Qi Yun used the Hunyuan Great Luo Heaven’s new Myriad Daos mechanism to level the Dao Kings’ status with ordinary True Lords, then led an assault on the seven rifts. The True Lords’ attacks failed to overcome the Dao Kings until True Lord Contemplating the One joined them, and Qi Yun launched a renewed charge with his allies.
Qi Yun and the True Lords broke the World-Honored One’s Buddha hand, but six Dao Kings attacked True Lord Contemplating the One while the World-Honored One restored his hand through time reversal. Qi Yun drew on the Xuanhuang Origin to close the World-Honored One’s rift, leaving six rifts open and True Lord Contemplating the One beside him.
Qi Yun refused True Lord Contemplating the One’s demand for the Xuanhuang Origin and fought off his attempt to sever its bond with him. True Lord Feng Xi arrived and agreed to help Canyi in exchange for Qi Yun’s Primordial Unity, just as Qi Yun moved to act.
Qi Yun used the Xuanhuang Origin to fight True Lord Contemplating the One, then broke True Lord Feng Xi’s confinement and drained much of her cultivation with the Xuanhuang Treasure Tree. The two former Dao Kings withdrew, but six hostile gazes still watched from the rifts as Qi Yun realized the time had come.
Qi Yun fused with the Xuanhuang Origin and became one with the Xuanhuang Home Realm as seven Dao Kings moved to stop him and seize the Origin. With the Mountains and Rivers Cauldron and dozens of True Lords buying him time, Qi Yun continued transforming while the World-Honored One raised his hand against the Great Void Hall.
Qi Yun completed his transformation by absorbing Xuanhuang’s myriad Dao Fruits and gaining control of All Wonders Heaven, then effortlessly halted the attacks of seven Dao Kings. He confronted the World-Honored One and declared that he would reclaim the power the Buddha had drawn from Xuanhuang.
Qi Yun began reclaiming the World-Honored One’s power as Xuanhuang Master, but the nine Dao Kings summoned the Long River of Time to overwhelm him. As its torrent descended, Qi Yun called upon Xuanhuang, leaving the outcome unresolved.
Qi Yun used the Long River of Time to reverse Xuanhuang’s existence and remake the world from its primordial origin. He emerged as the anchor of the newborn Xuanhuang World and declared himself supreme.
